I'd really like to make mine look like gun metal gray. Anyone have suggestions on how to do that?

I wonder if you could use some of the same stuff they use to dye the barrels of guns? Not blue, but there may be other colors available.


Master of Bassets...and not much else.

I would love to have chemical etching done on it, but I don't think I could have it be out of commission for that long. The aluminum black might be a good place to start. I'll probably pick up a chunk of aluminum to test it on first. I loved the blue at first, but I've been rough with my Grand and it needs a new look.

I was doing some poking around about changing the color of aluminum a little while ago. It seems that solutions that are heavily alkaline will darken/tarnish it. Dish detergent, and like that.

Yep. Run your aluminum through the dishwasher a few times, and it will get a nice black coating on it. That coating is a b*tch to scrub off my wife's cookie sheets.
