So I have been smoking for the last 2.5-3 years, sometimes I'd smoke 10cigs a day, and sometimes a pack or even a pack and a half, depends on the day really.

Anyway, I decided to quit for good(cold turkey), it has been 3 days now, yesterday was really harsh, but today i'm feeling much better.

What comes to mind is not how much i miss cigarettes, because at the moment I'm at the point that I hate cigarettes, never want to touch them again, but what I crave is the routine, not the cigarette itself.

So I was thinking to start vaping at 0mg nicotine, should I do it or just continue with my life?

If you feel at any point as if you may start smoking again use 0mg. I use 0mg because I enjoyed smoking but not the dying part. Nicotine was always a pointless venture for me.

Its a good alternative if you want to keep your hands and mouth busy to avoid smoking. Cause I know that was a thing for me.

At the end of the day using a vaporizer to avoid cigarettes is what its there for.

If I felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest with a pen and I was literally suffering, you can bet I wouldn't find posting on ecf anywhere near the top of my to do list. C'mon man!
^ Would be the last thing on my list. Hope everything gets sorted out with the pain, and if it were me, I would try to keep up the cold turkey and not start vaping because you might be tempted to go from 0mg an then 3mg then you are addicted back to nicotine, but that is just my opinion and what I might do.

Yeah I'm trying to be honest with myself, yes i smoked for 2-3 but this is not the same as smoking for 10 20 or even more years.I don't want to sound mean but maybe people who smoked for such a long time actually need a vape, but 2-3 isnt much compared to others, so i ask myself do i really need it? this is why im so uncertain about the whole topic. the sudden change before my exams has made unable to concentrate in anything, but no excuses.

JMO. But It's kinda a Double Edged Sword.

If a person hasn't smoked for Very Long, like yourself, it is Easier to Quit. Much Easier. But unfortunately, the Desire to Quit can be Much Less.

Whereas when someone has smoked for a Long Period of Time, it can be VERY Hard to Quit. Even though one's Desire to Quit can be Tremendous.

After 2 or 3 Years of Smoking, I kinda wanted to Quit. But I was Young and Bullet Proof. And just Never Did. And Later, when the Cost started to get High, I said I would cut back and then Quit. But I never seemed to worked.

Then, Towards the End, I had to Quit. Because Smoking was taking a Toll on my Health. But Cold Turkey Didn't work. Neither did Nicotine Gum. Or the Patch.

Long Story Short. The Longer you Smoke. The Harder it will become to Quit. Better to Turn Off that Road Now while you are Taking College Classes. Then to Quit when you are 2 Years away from Retiring from Teaching College Classes.

Like Me.

Doctor said my lungs and heart are absolutely fine, turns out my muscles were sore.
I'm still skeptical about vaping, I'm about to finish my 5th day, ill be honest I feel fine, yes i get the urge to smoke form time to time but I ignore it. I feel really exhausted and sleepy all the time though
Keep it up! Glad your health is fine. I have cold turkey smokes many times and I hate it, cold sweats, can't think, angry at everyone ect, it is a challenge many non-smokers truly do not understand. I commend your resilience, day 5 is great.

Vaping zero nic is probably best for people who suffer with the routine (lack of) rather than the nicotine addiction (or people who work down to zero from something else).
2-3 years is not long to smoke, so I'd recommend giving it another few days and then saying goodbye forever to BOTH.
If Vaping had been around when I was 2-3 years in, I'd have given it a try though, probably with some Nicotine, yes.
The act of Vaping is quite addictive in itself...

So, that's me undecided, I guess.
Probably avoid it altogether if you can.

If you are 3 Days in and making it, I would just say just Keep Doing what you are Doing.

Think if you could just get another week or so under your belt. And Didn't want to Smoke or Use an e-Cigarette. Wouldn't that be the Best Possible outcome?

Welcome and glad you joined.
Felt the same way only I hoped that vaping would fill the void. I was correct. Start simple and work your way up to the advanced vape equipment if you must (still vaping at 1.5-2.0 ohms). I'm at zero nic but only after my first year. I would not rule out some nic juice if you get nic cravings. Vaping with nic is infinitely safer than smokes.

That's great Ali. Just remember..... hold out as best you can, but if it comes to smoking/vaping 0 nic, I'd recommend the latter. When I switched to a vape I was a mess for about 2 weeks, but I kept reminding myself the brain function would return, eventually. It will. You can then more accurately assess what you need, as far as habit changing. Honestly, think survival mode for now. Be *nice* to yourself, be *gentle* with yourself, and take it easy for a bit. It will pass. If it doesn't, vaping will still be there, and probably 0 nic would be more pleasant if you're fully off the nicotine. As an example, I once quit and was *sure* that herbal tobacco (yes, it's an actual thing) would fully help me with my nic cravings, I just wanted to *relax*. Smoking random herbs that don't contain psychoactive compounds, like nicotine, is not all it's cracked up to be. I think I smoked three out of the pack, before returning to smoking. You're doing really good, so save any and all experimenting (UNLESS you think you're going to buy a pack of smokes, drive your car to the vape store instead) until you aren't dealing with braindamage (or at least, brain up/down regulation). That NEVER feels good. It's ALWAYS miserable.

You have been a great deal of help, thank you very much.

I'm almost at my fifth day now, I dont like to count as it will just keep reminding me about something that I really want to ignore.

I dont want to smoke a cigarette but I want to smoke something, I dont know how to explain it:lol:, like something to hold, inhale and pass time with it, but definitely not cigarettes

thank you anyway.:thumb:

Oh, you don't have to explain it. That's why many of us vape.

No, you are correct. The longer you do it, the harder it is to stop. Conversely the quicker you quit, the easier it is to stop. My hope is that you quit smoking without vaping. If you do vape though, then I'll give you all the advice I
can.
