VOOPOO ARGUS GT II KIT review by hittman

I’m glad to be back today again with a review for you in which I will do my best to cover the new Voopoo Argus GT II kit. I was a big fan of the original Argus GT and have 4-5 of them. The original was 160 watt maximum output. They were such a small and lightweight dual 18650 mod. The new GT II is also a dual 18650 mod with some significant changes. It is in fact a 200 watt maximum output mod that uses the Gene.TT 2.0 chipset and offers 3 amp USB-C type charging capability. This new model is IP68 certified and offers a new output mode called Turbo. The tank included in the kit is a Volcano crater design called the MAAT and has a liquid capacity of 6.5ml. The tank uses the TPP series of coils that we have seen from Voopoo before so there is a little cross compatibility if you’ve been using those coils on one of their other devices. Before I start showing images and giving my opinions, let’s go ahead and talk about the elephant in the room. This mod is very similar in appearance to another mod that I have previously reviewed for a different company. I liked that mod very much which leads me to believe that I will like this one very much also. Now that’s out in the open, let’s take a look at the Voopoo Argus GT II kit.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The first thing I noticed when I opened the shipping box was that the kit came in a really nice metal case with a cardboard sleeve over the outside. On the front of the sleeve is a sketch of the mod and tank with a few specifications. The back of the sleeve has the usual contents list and company information along with a scratch off authenticity code. The front of the metal container has the following message “Solid and compact Argus Outdoor to create a better life experience”. I remember the original Argus GT coming in a nice case and am glad that Voopoo decided to keep with that tradition.

Let’s start out by taking a look at the MAAT tank. This new tank is said to have had 1,257 airflow adjustments and was designed in volcanic crater structure in order to drain condensate down and isolates it at the bottom to prevent seepage. It is said to provide a leak proof experience. I can say that I have not experienced any leaking during my time testing it at the time of writing this review. The base of the tank has two very large airflow openings that are easily adjusted by a lever that is incorporated into the airflow adjustment. The adjustment slide has vertical lines etched into it to easily tell where you have the airflow set.

upload_2022-4-5_8-4-54.png

It seemed odd to me that the top cap of the tank that is removed in order to fill seemed very lightweight. Almost to the point of feeling cheap. The tank is easily disassembled for cleaning. Once the top cap is removed there is a white gasket covering the fill ports and there is a single small hole over each port which I assume is to allow air to vent while filling. This is something I have not seen before as usually when a tank has a gasket like that then there are just slots that the bottle tip is pressed through.

I very much like the 810 drip tip with the stainless base which gives a nice appearance. It was comfortable to use so didn’t find it necessary to change like I usually do with most tanks. You can see in the picture that the inside of the base has gold plated contacts to match up with the coil to provide a good connection. The MAAT tank uses the same TPP series of coils that I’ve tested previously from Voopoo with other kits and they do provide good flavor but had experienced some minor seeping in the past with them. The two coils included in the kit are the TPP DM2 which is .2 ohm and rated at 40-60 watts. I found that I liked it at 51 watts. The other coil is the TPP DM3 which is .15 ohm and rated at 80-100 watts. That one is a little out of my comfort zone but did run it at about 70 watts for a while. I obviously preferred the DM2 which I used the most for testing.

Now on to the Argus 2 mod. On the top of the mod is of course the spring loaded gold contact center pin. It should allow up to about a 28mm base tank. Also found on top is one of my favorite features of this mod which is the metal sliding door for the 3A USB-C charging port. I like this design much better than the rubberized port cover that I have seen on other IP68 rated mods.

upload_2022-4-5_8-6-20.png

On the bottom of the mod is the sliding lever with an arrow on it indicating which way to slide the lever to open the spring loaded door to install the batteries. The battery polarity is clearly marked on the underside of the battery door on the contacts. I would assume that there is no battery venting on this unit since it is IP68 rated and venting would allow liquid and dirt intake.

upload_2022-4-5_8-6-50.png

The frame of the mod is made of zinc alloy and on the left side is “Designed by Voopoo” and “Made in China” etched into the frame. Then on the right side of the frame is “Gene Chip inside” etched in the frame. The version I received is the silver grey model with the brown leather backing. The backing has the Argus II name stamped into the leather. The leather is very soft to the touch. Almost to the point where it feels like suede. The Argus II is IP68 rated and said to be “indestructible”. I personally don’t consider anything to be indestructible. If there’s a will then there’s a way to break something. That being said, this mod should hold up to most environments that it finds itself it in.

qNtMSFj.jpg

Now onto the part you’ve been waiting for, the display and operation of the mod. Going from top to bottom is the nice sized fire button, the large display, the plus button, the minus button, and on the bottom is the lock button. The lock button completely locks out the mod and is another feature that I really like and have found myself using quite often. In the left position like in the picture below, it is in the unlocked position. Before putting it in a pocket or a bag just slide the lever to the right to lock the mod.

The Argus II uses the Gene.TT 2.0 which uses automatic power matching and provides Smart, RBA, Turbo, and TC modes. As you are probably familiar with, the Smart mode automatically chooses the optimal wattage depending on the coil resistance. In RBA mode you can choose any setting you like between 5-200 watts. The TC memory mode can record the set values of up to three temperature control parameters. I don’t feel like the Turbo mode was clearly explained to me but here is what I was told. “The new turbo mode is the output mode most in line with the smoking habits of users, and it can instantly maximize the release of the maximum smoke of TPP with a full sense of explosion.” I could tell the difference between the Turbo mode and RBA mode but don’t really know what is causing the difference. It almost seems like the difference between normal and hard modes seen on some mods.

The .96” TFT display of the Argus II shows the following information from top to bottom.

- Set wattage

- Output mode

- A battery indictor with percentage for each battery

- Puff counter

- Coil resistance, Output voltage while firing, and length of time of current puff

I very much like that it shows the battery percentage along with the indicator. I also like that if you do charge the batteries inside the mod then it shows the percentages of each battery during charging.

The review sample that I received has a screen time of 15 seconds but am told that the production model will have an adjustment available of 10-20 seconds. Also on the sample the screen brightness cannot be changed but the production model will be able to adjust the brightness from 1-100. I will however be able to download a software update the end of April that will add these features.

The button operation for this sample mod is as follows:

- Press the fire button 5X to turn on/off

- Press the + and – buttons to enter the menu which gives the options of Mode, Setting, About Device, and Exit

- Once you press the fire button to select Mode, then the options available are Smart, RBA, Turbo, and TC

- On the sample I received the only option inside the Setting selection is to clear the puff counter. This is probably where the other two features I mentioned will be found on production models

- About Device shows the chip information and firmware

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I very much enjoyed testing the Voopoo Argus II kit. The metal case that the mod comes in really sets the mood when you see it before opening the case. I assume that if someone is willing to provide a case like this then what’s inside must be good and in my opinion it is. The mod although similar in appearance to another I’ve seen before, has some really nice features like the sliding cover on top for the 3A charging/update port, the sliding device lock on the front and of course the new Turbo mode.

I was a little surprised at the flavor production I experienced using the MAAT Tank with the TPP coils. I am very familiar with these coils and have used them in prior reviews. I remembered them producing very good flavor but this time they didn’t seem quite as good as I remembered. I ran the .2 ohm coil at 55 watts with the airflow maybe ¼ open since this tank offers huge airflow. The flavor was good but not as good as I expected. I thought perhaps that I got a subpar coil so moved on to the other coil included in the kit.

Next up I installed the .15 ohm coil and started out at 65 watts and worked my way up to 72 while using a LMN# DIY mix that I use a lot for reviews. I still wasn’t getting that great flavor that I was looking for. After a suggestion from a friend, I went ahead and moved up to 78 and then 80 watts. The flavor was a tiny bit better but still not quite there. I had been running in RBA mode so decided to switch to Turbo mode. When I did, it defaulted to 65 watts and seemed almost as strong as the 78 watt setting. I’ve seen with different tanks and devices that a superior tank and coil combination will bring out notes in the liquid that other tanks don’t. For me, this wasn’t one of those combinations but the tank is good in its own right but the TPP coils with this tank didn’t quite hit that superior mark for me. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor production is pretty good and there’s nothing wrong with that but having tested some of the best coils and tanks on the market, I probably have set a higher bar than most.

The mod itself is fantastic in my opinion. With a 200 watt maximum output and all of the different modes it should be a good fit for most users. Although my sample didn’t have them, the production models will also allow the user to adjust the screen time and display brightness. Also with the IP68 rating it should be very durable and last a long time. I am curious as to how the soft leather backing will wear with time. I love the softness of the leather wrap.

I’d like to thank Voopoo and Aimer for sending the Voopoo Argus GT II kit for this review. Also thanks to the readers. I know this one got a little long so thanks for making it to the end. Below is a link to the Voopoo website. The full information on the GT II is not up on the website yet but should be soon.

► VooPoo Argus GT 2 Kit; First impressions:
To get to know this new Kit better, the first thing that came to my mind was to compare it directly with the version of the original 2020 Argus Kit, this to try to illustrate what the evolution of the product has been in these two years.

The first evidence is the presence of a new vaporizer, an evolution of the previous Maat Tank. The new Maat Tank is entirely made of metal and houses the latest type of TPP Coil intended for DL / RDL use. The 2020 Argus Mod was joined by a cheaper PCTG Pod / Tank paired with the popular PnP coil platform. The New Maat Tank therefore introduces substantial improvements in relation to its more professional structure thanks also to the coils (TPP) which are even more performing and durable. So as far as tanks with pre-assembled heads are concerned, these changes place New Maat Tank undoubtedly among the best and most sought-after creations available on the market today.

After two years, the Mod Argus 2 also changes its appearance in a radical way. Basically we find inside a new gene.Chip TT 2.0 which is able to manage a higher maximum power, in fact the power increase is 40W, from 160 to 200W. New chip offers the possibility of adjusting the Time Out from 10s to 20s and the possibility of intervening By adjusting the brightness level of the Display, there are also three memories for use in TC and the new TURBO mode with even more aggressive power delivery.

Compared to the original Argus Mod this new realization of Argus 2022 earns the IP68 Tri-Proof classification (Shock-Proof, Dust-Proof, Waterproof) with the implications that follow from this choice, the weight and final dimensions of the Mod grow slightly and naturally . However, the rationalized design of Argus GT 2 with soft curves and well connected to each other, does not make us regret too much the excellent qualities of portability and manageability of the previous Argus 2020. Furthermore, compared to the past, the new IP68 classification, the valuable decorations, and the best materials used, are all characteristics that further enhance Argus GT 2 Mod.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-8.jpg

► VooPoo Argus GT 2 Mod; Side panels:
I received the Silver Gray version of the kit from VooPoo for this test. In the side view of this Mod you can see two French screws on each side, the screws have the task of fixing the sturdy and protective metal mask to the frame. This solid structure is hermetically connected to the front of the Mod and to the decorative leather insert that also covers the rear handle. The laser-marked writings "Designed By VooPoo Made In China" and "Gene Chip Inside" are shown vertically one on each side in a discretionary way and with minimal visual impact. The chromed parts are present along the entire profile of the Mod, the chromium plating is very beautiful and shiny but it turns out to be a real magnet for fingerprints, in particular on the side panels where there are small writings.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-9.jpg

► VooPoo Argus GT 2 Mod; Front and back view:
At the top the fire button is protruding enough and is easily accessible by the fingers, it is not very silent and wobbles a little, but this does not bother me. The color display below has a size of 0.96 "and clearly shows all the information useful for vaping; selected power, running mode, level and percentage of charge of the two 18650 cells, Puff counter, Coil impedance, Volt, and duration of the last Puff. Below the screen appear the two adjustment buttons "+" and "-" these are more fixed and less dancing than the Fire button, the adjustment buttons are equally protruding and easily reachable by the fingers. There is a switch to quickly lock / unlock the Mod without having to resort to the usual combination with simultaneous pressing of the adjustment keys "+" and "-". Undoubtedly this total locking solution is appreciable when you quickly put the Mod in your pocket and without having to turn it off with the five clicks. However, I think it is preferable to also have the classic system for locking the adjustment keys (not present), because it prevents the user during the vape from inadvertently raising or lowering the selected power.

I have a weakness for the decoration that extends from the side panels to the grip side of Argus GT-2, the leather gives a "warm" tactile perception, soft and velvety, and the visual appearance of the Fonts used for branding is pleasant and highlights the name of this Mod.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-10.jpg

► VooPoo Argus GT 2 Mod; Top and bottom view:
The upper base of Argus GT 2 seems to "float" on a soft cushion which is nothing more than an insulating rubber gasket that aesthetically blends well with the body of the Mod and the base. The maximum usable diameter to accommodate atomizers without external protrusions from the Mod is 29mm. The 510 thread contains a floating type / gold plated pin. But the real novelty is represented by the sliding cap that protects the USB-C 5V-3A fast charging socket from infiltrations.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-11.jpg

The lower base as well as the upper one is wrapped with the same type of rubber insulating gasket. The base shows on the bottom; the "C E" mark and the disposal logo. On the side there is a slider button for accessing the compartment / batteries, I assume that this sliding button also functions as a safety vent for the two 18650 cells. The door appears easy to access, rather solid and free of abnormal movements, it contains the indications for inserting the cells. The indications for inserting the accumulators are directly obtained and clearly visible above the contact polarity.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-12.jpg

► VooPoo Maat Tank 2022:
The introduction of TPP coils for this vaporizer is not the only novelty, in fact the evolution of this Tank has seen several interventions aimed at improving its performance and ease of use compared to the progenitor. The New Maat Tank design is particularly pleasant and innovative; the lower part has a diameter of 25mm to connect perfectly and without protrusions with respect to the upper metal base of the Argus GT 2 Mod which, compared to the battery body, falls slightly. The part of Maat Tank that incorporates the AFC control is of a new design and has a much larger diameter (about 28mm), in order to adequately connect to the large convex glass. The convex glass allows an e-liquid capacity in keeping with the high performance of a tank designed for RDL / DL use like this one. The Top-Cap maintains the same design and the same diameter as the AFC ring. To refill the New Maat Tank with e-liquid, a 1/4 turn of the Top-Cap is sufficient and through two slots protected by as many silicone gaskets it is possible to insert up to 6.5ml of e-liquid.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-13.jpg

► VooPoo Maat Tank 2022; Exploded view:
Maat Tank is basically composed of 5 separable elements that allow easy cleaning operations. The Top cap can accommodate any 810 type drip-tip, however I never thought about replacing the original Drip-Tip as it looks really well done to me. The original 810 drip-tip is equipped with two sealing o'ring and a heat sink at its base, overall I like the shape and size, moreover it is very functional. The coils are inserted under pressure from below and absorb e-liquid through the large slits made on the one-piece central structure of Maat Tank. The thread connecting the Tank with the Mod contains an isolated pin, gold-plated and not very protruding, the pin transfers energy to three gold-plated contacts inside the AFC Base. These three contacts in turn transfer the electrical impulses coming from the Mod to the TPP Coil.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-14.jpg

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-15.jpg

► VooPoo Maat Tank; AFC:
The air flow is managed by a new Bottom AFC adjustment system and is adjusted by means of two sturdy metal fins present on two fake slots inside the large knurls of Maat Tank. By means of these fins it is possible to adjust two enormous opposing slots for the flow of air towards the TPP Coil without having to turn any ring, as is usually the case on tanks of this type. At the maximum opening of the AFC a very high air flow is obtained, however this AFC system can manage very well even a rather narrow type of Puff and more charged than Hit (for those who want it). The suction noise of the new Maat Tank is always civilized and contained with both the coils supplied and with all the different selectable degrees of opening of the AFC.

Voo-Poo-Argus-GT-2-Kit-200-W-16.jpg

► VooPoo; TPP Coil:
Both TPP Coils present in the Argus GT 2 Kit exploit the "Mesh" technology and are equipped with large windows for optimal liquid absorption, in the photo below you can see the range of TPP coils available in the VooPoo catalog.

• Coil TPP-DM3, 0.15Ω 80-100W:
With Smart mode this coil is activated at 65W, activation is very fast and as soon as you start to vape you immediately begin to perceive a remarkable and impressive load of aroma and steam. My red fruit liquid with the Maat Tank and with this coil has become excellent, at the highest levels of what I have tested so far on a pulmonary DL tank with pre-made heads coil. My ideal setting is with AFC maximum aperture and 80W of power selected.

• Coil TPP-DM2, 0.2Ω 40-60W:
With Smart mode this coil is activated at 50w, compared to the previous one the aromatic yield is just as excellent, it allows to use less battery energy, with a consequent life of the cells much higher than the use of the 0.15Ω TPP-DM3. With AFC aperture at about 50% and with a selected power of 55W I found my weak point with this Coil.

To make the most of both these Super-coils, I would advise you to stick to the wattages indicated by VooPoo or to use SMART mode to avoid mistakes. The TPP Coils offer a very greasy and moist type of Puff, remember that vaping at too low wattages you run the risk that the coils do not vaporize the liquid in the correct way, creating a supercharging effect.

In principle, I find the TPP Coils better than the previous excellent PnPs. The TPP Coils on this massive NEW Maat Tank offer greater performance but also greater durability, the large breathability holes ensure a very constant supply to the cotton. The Tank dissipates and disposes of heat well. You just have to enjoy your liquids to the full.

► VooPoo Argus GT 2 Kit; Final conclusions:
Indeed as in the promotional slogan, the new ARGUS GT-II Kit breaks mediocrity without compromise, embracing the real needs of pure cloud hunters. Real credit must be given to the New Maat Tank and TPP Coils, I read somewhere that 1,257 design attempts would be made to obtain an AFC system with precise adjustments and capable of increasing the maximum airflow by 60%, with the best possible channeling towards the Coil. The design study also concerned the drainage of any e-liquid leaks not through the AFC slots but for a planned containment inside the cup. This is to avoid the user from getting dirty during use, even with various vape angles. Furthermore, the conformation and position of the POGO PINs would be calculated to minimize the electrical dispersion between Mod and Tank.

The captivating style of ARGUS GT II Mod made of leather and metal with luxurious decoration, also implements the IP68 rating. The ARGUS GT II designers focused on structural development by selecting a high strength double layer metal shell. After thousands of tests they would have achieved their intended purpose which was to create a robust device with multiple safety protections; waterproof, dustproof, antifreeze and anti-collision, to better face all environments and the most extreme conditions of use.

Argus GT II's upgraded GENE TT 2.0 chipset promises stable output up to max power of 200W and supports smart, RBA, TURBO and TC modes. The Smart mode we all know how useful it can be in case of distractions, the RBA mode supports the user in customizing the preferred power between 5 and 200w, the triple memory mode for TC can record the previously set values and the new TURBO function, is the mode that can maximize the release of vapor by the TPP-Coils with the greatest possible aroma load, certainly the latter is the choice most in line with the vaping habits of DL users.

ARGUS GT II is also equipped with a 3A type C fast charging interface hidden and protected from various infiltrations. The Chip can dynamically balance the charge of both 18650 battery, keeping a safe and stable current in the device. The charging speed is 30% higher, significantly reducing waiting times and extending the time dedicated to vaping.

Many of the features of VooPoo Argus GT 2 Kit are probably not interesting for those looking for maximum handling or using the Mod with MTL tank in a comfortable work environment away from dangers or bad weather. However, thanks to the careful study of arched and soft shapes and a fairly low overall weight, Argus GT 2 Kit does not scare even the most slender and puny of vaper's. Those who have never tried the DL vape and want to try to immerse themselves in a way made of dense clouds and heavenly flavors, could really be favorably impressed by the performance achieved by this type of Tank RDL / DL with pre-packaged heads, therefore simple and suitable for everyone .

New here, have a question...

Hello all,

Thank you for being here and having this community to learn more about vaping.

I recently visited a vape shop here in Taos, NM, US to learn about the options so that I could try calling to quit cigarettes. The gentleman sold me a Hype curve. It tastes okay, smells kinda weird, but that's okay.
It says it contains 5% nicotine. Is this too much nicotine. I am a half a pack to a pack a day cigarette smoker for the last 15yrs.

Thank you for any and all replies. I appreciate you reading my question.

Old Classics : (2) Titanide Themis 18650 with Extras

For sale are two Titanide Themis Mech Mods from back in the day. The Themis is arguably one of the most elegant mech mods ever made, reminding me personally of the Art Deco period. They are also one of the most substantial mods ever made. The body, cap button and lock ring were milled from solid billet titanium. The Titanide logo is laser cut out and acts as the venting. The mods originally came with 18K Gold buttons from Titanide but I switched out them for the titanium versions from Titanide. The gold buttons are included as well. Each button is accented with a piece of abalone so no two are the same.
The atmoizers are not included though I may be convinced to sell the Art of Exhale Prometey, also made of titanium, since it goes so well with the 20mm cap. Shipping will be $12 Priority mail CONUS. Outside CONUS to quote.

Titanide Themis with both the 22mm cap and 20mm cap is $120.00 Firm

Titanide Themis with the 20 mm cap is $100.00 Firm

Bench Test Results: DMEGC 29E - 5.8A 2900mAh 18650

These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They are not supposed to be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Test Results
This is a low cost cell that performs about the same as the Samsung 35E (not the 35E3) and EVE 29V. If you do not need the higher performance of the more expensive cells like the Molicel M35A and Samsung 35E3 then this cell could be a good choice for cost-sensitive applications.

It has a 5.8A rating down to 2.75V (not 2.5V) and a max temperature spec of 60°C.

I have not tested it but this cell has a very high cycle life spec in the data sheet, 1000 cycles before losing 20% of its capacity.

The two cells I tested delivered 2923mAh and 2926mAh. This is fantastic consistency and is more like cells from the big manufacturers.

Two cells were purchased for testing by me from Liion Wholesale (Liion Wholesale Batteries | Li-ion battery/cell distributor).

Single coil RDA suggestions?

Has anyone got any suggestions for medium to higher end RDL single coil RDAs *that are available* without having to jump through hoops like raffles or short lists every 3 months?

My favorites are the Venna and the Citadel, and I just ordered an Armor Engine, thinking of picking up a Reload S and/or a Daywon.

Any thoughts on the last two or other suggestions I should look at? I think I have most of the commonly recommended 'budget' ones.

Kumiho Model V Mini-Pod Kit | Review by Z-Lee

Kumiho Model V Mini-Pod Kit

f71GxcI.jpg

Welcome back with another Z-Lee review. Today we have the Kumiho Model V Mini-Pod Kit we're going to be taking a deeper look at. It's really a "Pod Kit", but these smaller devices have kind of pushed out the larger "Pod Kits" into a realm of the unknown. Pod devices like the Innokin Sceptre Tube, VooPoo Doric, and Uwell Havok V1 are still pod kits to me because they use proprietary pods, but apparently other people think differently. Therefore, I'm deeming smaller devices such as this Model V as a Mini-Pod device - they are quite mini. It's the same general size as the Innokin MVP Pod Kit, Surge Pod Kit, Freemax Onnix 2 Pod Kit, and a plethora of other similar mini-pod devices like the Vaporesso Xros, Caliburn A2/G2, etc. The drip tip or mouth piece is quite a bit thinner than most however, and I really like that. I'll show some comparison pictures later in the review.

I want to thank Sue over at HealthCabin for setting me up with the samples needed for this review. Before she'd asked me to do a review on this product, I was rather hesitant. I'd never heard of Kumiho before and I'm not a big fan of the direction vaping is headed with pod systems as a whole, but I'm happy that I said yes. I was rather surprised by the Model V. As always, I'll remain fair and unbiased in this review.

Welp, shall we? :w00t:

  • Model V Battery/Mod
  • 0.6 Ohm 2 mL Refillable Pod (14-18 Watts)
  • 1.0 Ohm 2 mL Refillable Pod (11-13 Watts)

-Specs-
(as written in the User Manual which I'd highly recommend you read)

  • Power Output: 11-18 Watts
  • Coil Resistance: 0.4-3.0 Ohms
  • Battery Capacity: 600 mAh
  • Charging Specification: USB Type-C Charging Port (5V/0.75A)
  • Low Voltage Warning: 3.2V +/- 0.1V

There are a couple of safety prompts that are shown using specific light patterns that refer back to a few of these tolerances which I'll go over later.

-Color Options-

yjPD5Ql.jpg

In case there are issues with photos, the available colors are:
  • Gold Pink
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Gunmetal
  • Black
I received the Blue colorway for this review. The aesthetic is a polished aluminum alloy and it's much more of a brilliant and vibrant blue than what's seen in the photo above. You'll get a better look further down.

-Breakdown-

aP3DqgB.jpg

This device is solidly built, yet extremely simple in construction. I'll get into more details about all of this down below.

-Features-

0s8Kg4X.jpg
  • Vibration Interaction
  • Patented Cotton Design
  • Adjustable Airflow
  • Refillable Transparent Pods
  • Pre-fill Pods (sold separately)
  • 2 mL Pods (TPD compliant)
  • USB Type-C Charge Port
  • Auto-Draw
  • 600 mAh Internal Battery

hT5knXw.jpg

The battery vibrates when the pod is seated correctly followed by the LED indicator lighting up with the status of your battery.

cRYlJIl.jpg

From MTL to loose MTL is about right for the Model V. I'd almost consider it a loose MTL to a more loose MTL, but that really depends on which coil/pod you're using. The 0.6 Ohm coil is a loose MTL to more loose MTL, the 1.0 Ohm coil ranges closer to an MTL and loose MTL.

B0AP4cC.jpg

LED Indicators/Prompts can be a bit confusing, but I think after you've used this device for a bit, you'll get used to what you're seeing. The LED patterns shown below will hopefully clear this up some.

When inserting a pod or taking a puff, the LED indicator will show the status of your battery for around 5 seconds and then fade out.
  • Red: 0-30% battery remaining
  • White: 31-100% battery remaining
When plugged in and charging, the LED will pulse at a very slow rate.
  • Pulsing Red: 0-29% charged
  • Pulsing White: 30-99% charged
  • Solid White: 100% charged
LED Warnings/Prompts:
  • Low Battery: Slow pulsing red light when inserting a pod and the battery is below 30%, the red light will flash 10 times when the battery is out of power
  • No Atomizer (Pod): Red light will flash 3 times
  • Atomizer Short: White light will flash 3 times
  • Output Timeout: When a puff timer exceeds 8 seconds, the LED will flash white 7 times
  • Overheat: White light will flash 5 times when the device exceeds 60° C or 140° F

okakjUL.jpg

I'm not entirely sure what's exactly patented with the 0.6 Ohm coil other than what's indicated above, but I will say that it vapes better than the 1.0 Ohm coil. The 1.0 Ohm coil does offer a slightly stiffer and closer to a true MTL draw, but I experienced a bit of gurgling with it. It wasn't all the time, but the gurgling would pop in and out. It never really effected the overall vape, other than it felt like I was sucking through a straw trying to get the last drop of pop/soda/coke out of a cup. I started with the 0.6 Ohm coil because the lower resistance coils generally have a higher chance of leaking with larger juice ports. So far I've experience no leaking from either pod.

ee9ugO3.jpg

This device offers refillable pods if you have your own e-juice, or pre-filled pods for purchase. The flavors are listed below and can be purchased separately. Unfortunately I did not acquire any of the pre-filled pods for this review, so I cannot make any remarks on their flavor or quality.

HAD3nmE.jpg

This is quite an interesting array of flavors:
  • Ice Mango
  • Ice Watermelon
  • Mung Bean
  • Assam Milk Tea
  • Ice Blueberry Lemonade
  • Ice Banana Apple
  • Passion Fruit
  • Banana Ice Lolly
  • Ice Coke
  • Fanta

nQ5opCi.jpg

500-700 mAh capacity is about the average for devices of this size. The Kumiho Model V sits right in the middle at 600 mAh. I wouldn't say it's guaranteed to deliver a whole day of vaping if you're a regular vaper, but if you're the type to take a puff here and there every half hour or an hour, then sure - this'll get you through the day. More likely with the 1.0 Ohm coil/pod simply because the battery's using only 11-13 Watts instead of 14-18 Watts with the 0.6 Ohm coil/pod. I'd say that you can expect to vape roughly 2 or so full pods, or 4 mL in total, per battery recharge. This device was clocked at a 0.7A charge and it's advertised at 0.75A - very accurate and I applaud the honesty here. Nothing irks me more than false advertisement. You can expect around an hour to fully charge from a dead battery, but the Model V does have pass-through vaping, so you're able to safely vape while it's charging.

01lh0il.jpg

More on this below!

-Personal Observations and Experiences-
So, I've had the Kumiho Model V for almost two weeks now. I have an hour and a half commute to and from work currently, and this device has been my daily driver. The 2 mL tank will get me to work, and a 2 mL tank will get me home.

xlgZBrr.jpg

(Note: The package does NOT come with a USB Type-C cable)
The drip tip is very slim and comfortable between the lips. The pod is made of PCTG which will make it resistant to breaks when dropped. I've dropped this pod quite a few times, and unless I've been really lucky with how it's landed, you can't even tell it's been dropped - the device is very light. For the Model V, the coil is built into each pod meaning when your coil burns out, you must purchase a new pod. Replacement packages of coils/pods come in 3's.

LYQU9TC.jpg

I've been very surprised with the flavor output in these pods. I'm not one to be all gung-ho about disposable pods simply because I think there are better options for the environment, but I'd be lying if I said these pods don't deliver in flavor.

I've been using Vice Cream (Vanilla Ice Cream & Buttery Sugar Cookie) from Freeman's line of e-juice which I've had a difficult time getting much of any flavor from in rebuildable decks and MTL premade coil head ("sub ohm") tanks, but Kumiho's Model V is popping out some extremely tasty vape. I've just been enjoying the crap out of this juice, and so I haven't really tried other fruit or custardy flavors. I also only received two pods, and I wanted to give a fair comparison in flavor between the 0.6 and 1.0 Ohm coils. The 0.6 Ohm coil definitely puts out better flavor, but the 1.0 Ohm coil isn't far behind. As mentioned above, the 1.0 Ohm coil will also give you a tad more battery life if you're in dire need to stretch it out.

IJnLFOA.jpg

I mentioned in the color options portion of this review, that the pictures don't really do the actual colors any justice. As you can see, the blue is far more vibrant.

On the front side of the battery mod toward the top, you can see the fox head logo which shows the LED indicator through the cutout of the eyes. Toward the bottom is the Kumiho logo.

Transitioning to the left side of the battery, is the airflow control that slides up and down. The picture below will give you a better look at that.

On the back side, is simply Model V along the bottom.

Flipping the mod upside down gives us a view of the USB Type-C charging port. This device will charge from a 3.0 QC charging cable, but it will still only charge at 0.7A. Again, you're looking at a 45 min. to an hour charge time from fully dead, but you can safely vape while it's charging.

Every time I've recharged this device, the pod has remained in the battery while on its side. Zero indications of any leaking.

On the top of the battery where the pod seats, you can see an oval-shaped opening - that's the airflow hole that feeds up from the airflow control on the side of the battery. The two spring-loaded brass positive and negative connector pins are interchangeable meaning you can put this pod in either way, and it will function the same. The small circular hole near the top is your auto-draw detector which I must say, is very sensitive. Even if the MTL draw is too loose for what you're used to, you can still draw slower than the suction, and the auto-draw will still fire the battery. If you have problems with the auto-draw activating in the future, remove the pod, hold the battery near the bottom, and whip it (whip it real good) like you're trying to get the last drops to come out of a hose. Do this for as long as you need. This will hopefully release any residue caught down in the auto-draw sensor.

O3p9IvB.jpg

(Finally, the airflow!)

So, I wasn't all that impressed with the airflow control. Can I tell a difference when I'm inhaling and plugging the airflow and when I'm not? Yes, but ever so slightly. Maybe this was intended, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more of a wider airflow range. I noticed more of an airflow restriction from switching between the 0.6 Ohm pod to the 1.0 Ohm pod. The restriction might be bottlenecked at the air intake at the base of the pod which may mean this was intended.

When the knob is up, it's fully closed. When the knob is down, you can see 3 air inlets reveal themselves.

q8WBPzf.jpg

The pods are quite simple to use. Don't be a doofus like me, and pull the wrong side of the plug out. Pull from the end that the arrow on the plug is pointing to (also indicated by the magenta arrows). It took me a good 5 or 10 minutes with Swiss tweezers to jam the little rubber piece that holds the rubber plug back into its ultra tiny hole, lol.

Also noted here by the dark blue arrows, is the minimum juice line indicated on the pod with "MIN". This is the point where you're dropping down below the juice ports on the coil inside the pod, which can disrupt the air displacement process of your coil. If you continue to vape while the e-juice is below this line, you are apt to receive some dry hits when you fill your pod back up. This may fix itself, and it may not. It's best just to keep the juice level in this pod above the MIN line.

5wVfUKP.jpg

Refilling is very easy with this pod. Once you open the rubber plug (correctly ), the refill hole is large enough to fit a 120 mL Gorilla nozzle way down inside of it without the worry of juice bubbles swelling up out of the hole.

I will say of all the mini-pods I've tested, this is one of the easiest simply because of how far into the refill hole you're able to get the nozzle. Once it's filled up, seal the rubber plug, and look for those tiny cute little bubbles floating to the top. This indicates that the juice the wick is absorbing, is pushing the air out of the wick, and into the tank which is how it's supposed to be. Allow the wick to absorb the juice for about 5 minutes to be on the safe side before vaping.

If you don't see bubbles when first filling, or after taking a few puffs, that's a bad sign. Expect some dry hits in the near future.

-Pros/Cons-
==Pros==
  • No leaking (not a hint so far)
  • Super lightweight
  • Built sturdy for a pod device
  • Very simple to use
  • Slender/pocket-friendly and sleek look
  • Fairly simple LED indicators
  • Love the thin mouth piece
  • Flavor in refillable pods is outstanding
  • USB Type-C compatible
  • Vibration lets you know the pod is seated correctly
  • Decently long coil life (so far - no decline in flavor)
  • Pod seats very snug
  • Refillable and Pre-filled Pod options
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Vibrant colors

==Cons==
  • Battery status indicator is a bit lacking; I'd be severely disappointed if I thought my device was near-fully charged, when in fact it was actually sitting at 30% - both statuses would be indicated by the same white light
  • Adjustable airflow is hardly noticeable

==Preference Considerations==
  • 600 mAh battery
  • No USB Type-C charging cable

-Overall Rating-

Compared to other mini-pod devices: 9 - 9.5

I'm a huge sucker for flavor, and this mini-pod really delivers.

It's also part of the Weekly Sale page right now which means you can use the code "WSHC" at checkout for another 17% off which will further drop the price to $20.74. Refillable pods in packs of 3 for both 0.6 and 1.0 Ohm coils are currently $9.99, and pre-filled pods in packs of 2 with various flavors come in 30 mg/mL (3%) salt nic for $7.99.

Small thin tip bottle

Hello forum,

Im in search of portable small size thin tip plastic bottles for my juice to carry around. Preferably as small as 10ml or less. I have looked up Amazon but dont know which is good without leaking and i only need a few and they sell in bulk most of the times.

Any suggestions where i can find some good ones where i dont have to get like 30 of them?

Thank you!!

It's working, only had 1 cigarette today.

I initially didn't intend to quit entirely, just slow down smoking. It's been about two weeks, and it's like every day I've wanted cigarettes less and less. I only had 1 today, and I didn't even really enjoy it too much. I've been using 3mg juice, cause I like to just smoke it a lot and I didn't want to go over on nicotine. Now it's like I'm not even craving cigarettes. I can't believe it really worked. I was really skeptical. It just happened tho. I hope this trend continues. Have to say, I like fruity sweet flavors way better than my rolled tobacco. Proof, it ain't "for kids" bull..... That's like saying adults don't eat candy. The people trying to get vape juice pulled can shove it!!!!

I wanna add too, and I'll try to keep track of this with time, when I pick up my vape, it doesn't feel the same as when I'd wanna go smoke a cigarette. Sometimes I can only take like 4 puffs and I gotta put it back down cause I'm working. It's more often, but I believe I'm I taking a lot less nicotine. Cause when I first started, I still had to smoke cigarettes. As my cravings for nicotine got less cause the smoking slowed down... It seems to have gradually went away.

Biggest one was also after meals... That seems to be gone now. And with my vape, it's not nagging at me to go pick it up after I eat. I feel like I can just vape at my leisure.
