Hi all,
I had been using the Innokin iTaste vv4 for about 6 years and loved it. Unfortunately, they're no longer available. My last one finally died so I purchased the T22 Pro starter kit about 3 weeks ago and have been having problems with it ever since. I prime the T18/20 1.5 coil. Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes before putting it in the tank and filling it with VG/PG 50/50 juice that I get from Black Note. It is constantly crackling and at times it kinda sparks and spits juice up in my face through the drip tip. It also sometimes burns the left side of my lips. I can actually taste the liquid juice. I double checked the coil and it's seated properly and all the O-rings are in place. What the hell is going on?

Hello and welcome back for yet another review. This time I’ll be taking a look at the Freemax Maxpod 3 kit that was sent to me by Freemax in order to provide a fair and honest review. The Maxpod 3 has a 480mah capacity internal battery and is draw activated only. The available pods are 2ml capacity and come in either .8 ohm or 1.2 ohm. The coils built into the pods use Coiltech 4.0 technology and use tea fiber cotton along with the SS904 mesh coils. This one is a pretty simplistic device so I would think that this review will turn out to be fairly short. Let’s take a look at the contents and some promotional images and I’ll give my opinion on the Maxpod 3.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Maxpod 3 is nice that it has a clear viewing window on the front so you can see the actual device inside the box. On the front is the Freemax and Maxpod names, the FM Coiltech 4.0 name, and “Ultra Mouth to Lung Solution” printed near the bottom. I’ll give my thoughts about that statement later in the review.

The back side of the box has the specifications, contents list, warning, authenticity code, and a label stating the color of the version received. The sides of the box have some product features listed with icons.






Like I mentioned earlier this is a very simple kit. I actually received two kits and a couple packages of 1.2 ohm pods. In the kit you get the Maxpod, one .8 ohm pod, and user manual. I know I’ve mentioned this before but really don’t like it when only one pod is included in a kit. If it’s bad then you’re dead in the water. I know manufacturers try to keep the cost down on these starter kits but I would rather see a kit with one of each of the two available pods.



The MD pods come in only two options and only the .8 ohm pod is included in the kit. They are said to be child resistant due to having to pop off the top cap and the rubber stopper in the fill port. You can see in the first picture below that there is a red rubber silicon insert in the fill port opening. I do like that the pods are top fill instead of side fill.

On one side of the pod the name and resistance are printed on it. On the opposite side is a suggested minimum liquid level line so you are supposed to refill the pod once the liquid level gets to that mark. The pod is clear and you can easily see that minimum line with the pod inserted into the battery. That was good thinking on the part of Freemax.

The bottom of the pod has two magnets and two electrical contacts that align with the contacts in the battery pod opening. The magnets are plenty strong and hold the pod in place very well.









The Maxpod is made using double color injection molding process that combines two high end plastics together and never fades. There are six different colors available. I received the light blue and the gray versions. The Maxpod 3 has branding on both sides of the unit. The Freemax name is on one side while Maxpod is on the other side along with the indicator light. There is no fire button on the Maxpod. It is auto draw activated only. On the side with the Maxpod name printed on it there is a single white LED light that illuminates when taking a puff or charging.

The pod opening contains two magnets, two contacts that align with the pod, and two airflow openings. The USB-C charging port for the 480mah battery is located on the bottom of the unit. To me that’s as good of a place as any on a pod. I never stand them up to charge since most are lightweight. The Maxpod is especially lightweight being made out of molded plastics. I was very surprised to see that it only has a 480mah battery built in. It’s quite a bit larger than many other pods I’ve tested that contain batteries with near twice that capacity. The battery can be charged in one hour according to the promotional material.





FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Maxpod 3 does have a nice appearance and is comfortable to hold. However, I promised you an honest review in the beginning so here it goes.

First of all, I don’t like it when any pod kit only comes with one pod. I don’t know if it’s because mine was a review sample but there was not a charging cord included. If this is for a smoker to quit then they may not have a USB-C charging cord.

I figured as large as the Maxpod is that a larger battery could have been installed. The 480mah isn’t much larger than what used to come in some of the cigalike devices years ago. Also the literature says it has a 15 watt capacity yet the output range is 9-10.8 watts depending if you use the included .8 ohm pod or purchase the 1.2 ohm pods. I would have very much liked to have seen the output for the .8 ohm pod much closer to the 15 watt mark. Here is why. The airflow on both pods is a very loose draw. The .8 ohm pod is a tiny bit warmer than the 1.2 ohm pod but both have a very loose draw. The draw for me hits that awkward point where it’s too loose for MTL and too tight for RDL. The output is low enough to where the vapor produced is very cool and I normally like a vapor that’s not too warm but it is too cool for me.

Most of the time I have to draw fairly hard to activate the output and get enough vapor. I have had intermittent operation where if I don’t draw hard enough then it doesn’t activate the output. It didn’t seem to matter which pod I used and both pods had too loose of a draw for my tastes. Others may feel differently about this. Also, for a device using CoilTech 4.0 the flavor production was less than great. This is the first Freemax device I have tried that I didn’t really care for the flavor production on. Normally they have the best flavor.

So, would I recommend it? If your tastes are like mine then I really wouldn’t. Everyone is different but for me the Maxpod 3 isn’t a good fit. I’m just trying to give you my honest opinion. Howdy fellow vapers

When I started vapping over two years ago, I was using Caliburn Pod device with Naked 100 (35mg) and Charlie Noble (25mg). Despite me chain vapping, I was re-filling my 2ml pod once a day, max twice.

A year into vapping I decided to cut down on my nicotine and started using freebase, still with Caliburn G 2ml pod device. I still used Naked 100 (tobacco) and Charlie Noble (RY4) freebase in 6mg.

The coil in Caliburn G is UN2-Meshed H 0.8ohm: 13 - 18W.

Since I started freebase, I'm going crazy re-filling the pod at least 8-10 times a day. A 2ml pod with freebase doesnt last me even an hour.

Am I using the wrong device/coil for freebase or the freebase just burns fast in general?
Caliburn G also has UN2-Meshed H 1.0ohm: 10 - 15W and 1.2ohm.

Please help, I really don't want to go back to nic salts with high nic level in flavours that I like.

► Aspire Flexus Stik; First Impressions:
Flexus Stik has an integrated battery of 1200mAh rechargeable via USB-C 5V / 1A and the power is adjustable on 3 different levels. The shot can be both automatic and by means of the fire button which is placed in the lower part. The cartridge has a capacity of 3ml and adopts the AF Mesh Coil heads, inside the package we find the 0.6Ω (15-18W) and the 1.0Ω (12-15W). The 510 drip tip can also be replaced with the one you prefer. It is also possible to adjust the air flow through the slot located on the top of the device near the Pod-Tank. The new entry in the Aspire Flexus series with its aluminum construction is light and robust and the tubular shape is comfortable and easy to carry. The very elegant and clean design is reminiscent of Aspire's AVP Cube.





For this test I received the very beautiful "Silver Diamond Knurling" version with the pleasant chromatic contrast created between the silver body and the dark parts of the cartridge and the bottom of the mod. The central part of the Flexus Stik body has a beautiful decoration made of many diamond-shaped figures that reflect light and are also noticeable to the touch. The USB port appears laterally at the bottom and is integrated with the fire button.

On the upper part of the tube there is the compartment for inserting the cartridge, inside we find a steel ring that serves as an attraction base for the cartridge magnets. On the bottom there are the gold-plated pins and the sensor for the automatic puff.



At the bottom of Flexus Stik there is an "Old School" activation key very similar to those of mechanical devices.
The key design allows you to safely store the mod in your pocket and rest assured as the key only activates when fully pressed.



► Aspire Flexus Stik; Power Levels & Lights:
The activation key allows you to turn the mod on / off with 5 clicks and the LED flashes white 3 times during these operations. It is also possible to change the power level during the vape with 3 clicks. The LED emits green light when maximum power is selected, blue light = medium power, red light = low power.

Flexus Stik has all the most important safety functions for the user and for children. In particular, the device is blocked after 7s of continuous activation, therefore the cartridge must be extracted and reinserted, the LED flashes green and the device can be reused. The "Time-Out" safety function is based on the requirement of TPD law to prevent children from vaping, but it is also a safety function when you put the device in your pocket or bag.

The led at the base of the device also indicates the current charge level as follows;
• Red Led: The charge level is between 0 and 30% <3.5V
• Blue Led: The charge level is between 30 and 60% = 3.5-3.8V
• Green Led: The charge level is between 60 and 100% = 3.8-4.2V

The Flexus Stik circular design magnetic cartridge is made of clear PCTG and houses a nice replaceable 510 type drip-tip. The AF coils can be inserted from below by pressure.



► Aspire Flexus Stik; Refil & AFC:
The filling port is positioned in the lower part of the cartridge and is protected by a liftable silicone rubber, so up to 3ml of e-liquid can be inserted.

Once inserted the cartridge into Flexus Stik, can be rotated at will to obtain an MTL or RDL vape through the 5 small side holes.



► Aspire Flexus Stik; Final conclusions:
The kit is compatible with the full range of Aspire AF Coils and comes with two different Mesh options, both with great flavor:

Definitely excellent for my way of vaping, this coil with the selected medium power level and with wide open AFC satisfies me completely because it has a strong delivery, rich in flavor and is able to produce dense clouds of vapor. Every so often to fill my need for hot steam and Hit I close the AFC finding my weak point very easily. With this coil and with a battery life cycle we are able to consume about 6ml of e-liquid.

• AF Mesh Coil 1.0Ω (12W-15W) Kanthal AF - MTL vaping:
This resistance is suitable for those looking for a fairly narrow type of Puff MTL and with tobacco or creamy liquids it expresses itself quite well in terms of aroma. The adjustment of the AFC for MTL is perfect up to guaranteeing maximum closure without any passage of air. With this coil and with a battery life cycle we are able to consume about 8ml of e-liquid.

There are no spitting phenomena and the formation of condensation of both coils between the pod and the contacts of the mod is well manageable, just dry any e-liquid residues at the end of the day. The automatic Puff also works well with large AFC openings. I like the "Mech Style" activation key to be able to select the power levels or to turn off the Mod, but to vape I rarely use it as the automatic puff is very sensitive and activates without any effort. The built-in 1,200mAh battery takes about 60 minutes to fully charge.
