Can i vape 0.1ohm (coil) at 177w with 2x 18650 30a batteries? using Voopoo Drag 3

Hello, I have very recently bought Voopoo Drag 3, it requires 2x 18650 batteries, I read some articles which said I should buy "high-current discharge" batteries, which are usually 10a, 15a, 20a, 30a (amperes) and so on.. So, I bought 2x 18650 30a batteries. And soon I'm planning to get an RDA tank, with a 0.1ohm coil, not that I'll be vaping it immediately (because I know that stuff isn't for beginners), but I just wanna know, could I, even, actually vape a 0.1ohm coil without getting my hands and face injured? (I know lower ohms draw more amperes, which could lead to a battery explosion, if the battery doesn't have enough amperes). I wanna vape 0.1ohm coil, 0mg or 3mg e-liquid, at 177w, and I found out online, to vape 0.1ohm coil, you need 42amperes.
I have 2x 18650 30a batteries in my Drag 3, so does that mean I can draw up to 60a? Does that mean I could with no potential injury, relatively safely, vape a 0.1ohm coil? (With e-liquid ofcourse). How does it count? Given that I have 2x 30a batteries, can I draw 30a max or 60a max without any worries?
If that can't be done safely, what coil would you use, if you wanted to try out the 177w which Drag 3 can produce?

Innokin CoolFire Z80 w/ Zenith II Kit Full Review - Z-Lee

uN_FzOWMSJyea3UqG9L2Tg.png

Some images used in this review were cropped directly from Innokin.com to save on picture limitations within the forum

Today I want to share with you a kit I recently won as part of a giveaway. The Innokin CoolFire Z80 mod with the Zenith II tank. In the giveaway, I also received an Innokin Zlide MTL tank, but I will not be including in this review. I'll be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this kit for two reasons; I'm not an MTL (mouth-to-lung) or much of an RDL (restricted-direct-lung) vaper, and these were the first Innokin products I've ever used. In the past, I brushed over many Innokin branded items simply because I consistently saw "MTL", and quickly associated them with MTL vaping - something I was not very interested in. This might however be a game changer for some of you.

I want to throw a quick shout out to @Innokin_timmy, @low_tar_neil, @Dimitris, Mr. Busardo and the Innokin Team for putting on and hosting this giveaway. It pleases me greatly to see a company like this reaching out to their customers and allowing for a one on one interaction.

This review will be conducted in fairness using my current but limited experience with the kit, and prior experience with several other kits as a comparison, although I should again remind you that the vast majority of the my vape gear is for DL, and in a few cases, RDL vaping. With that being said, flavor and overall tank and mod performance will be held to the same standard across the board.

Further into this review, I will be getting into a tad bit of the working mechanics behind AC vs. DC current, as I think that this factor is almost exclusively why this mod is set apart from other mods. I've not seen much information regarding that in any of the reviews I've read so far. Even googling it can be quite daunting, as many of the sources are quite technical and lengthy in their explanations. I will do my best to keep it something close to what you'd see in an ELI5 subreddit. I graduated with a degree in unmanned aircraft systems, and have a limited but working knowledge of brushless AC motors, and I also work as a DJ with some music production work on the side. I'm not an electric engineer by any means, but I'm fairly familiar with hertz and that is where the majority of my information will be drawn from - hopefully I've retained enough to be simple and accurate.

My brain is exhausted; I can go into this if people are really interested in it. I apologize for coming up short here. If you are interested, leave a comment below or PM/DM/IM/OHM me.

Now, let's get into the dirty.

Pretty Pictures:

-Innokin CoolFire Z80 Mod-

axNqClMGRUO5jQlUCpvMgQ.png

4 Different Color Combos:
  • Ash Grey (which is what I received)
  • Cloudy Grey
  • Leather Black
  • Leather White

CHeCTCllQdye5erbA8xsOA.png

Fourier Tech's 4th Gen AC "Frequency Mode" - F(O):

  • Allows for the adjustment of frequency from 20-100 hertz (more on this later).
  • Lower hertz have a longer wave pattern meaning less cycles per given time period.
  • Higher hertz have a more compressed wave pattern meaning more cycles per given time period.
  • My assumption to why higher frequencies are slated for MTL users, and lower frequencies for RDL is the draw length of time. My general draw time for a DL (without the airflow being completely open) is 3-4 seconds. For an RDL, probably slightly shorter than that. And for a tight MTL, probably 2-3 seconds if vaped like I'm smoking a cig (ew). So, being that you're firing the trigger for a shorter amount of time using MTL, you'd want more frequency cycles in a shorter amount of time - higher frequency. For more of an RDL with a longer draw, you'd need less frequency peaks over a longer period of time. Lower hertz have longer waves which means less frequency cycles for a given time period. I was taught to vape MTL kind of like you'd puff on a cigar. Is there a method that's considered "the norm"? Let me know in the comments how you vape MTL. For science!
  • From my experience, the 20 hertz setting has been giving me better flavor in both MTL and RDL settings at 20w. This is what makes me question if I'm vaping MTL correctly, lol.

hTfYBtASQkCu2qddib0Qmg.png

Refresh Mode:
  • Fires the coil at 40% of set wattage for wicking, flavor, and coil preservation purposes.
  • You know when a mod has been sitting idle for a bit, and when you fire it, there seems to be a sloppy first vape. I believe this feature will come in handy for addressing that.
  • I do wish however, that the refresh feature was more readily available. As it currently is, to access Refresh, you need to hold down both up and down buttons simultaneously for 2ish seconds. This brings you into the menu where you have to scroll down twice, and then from there, select if you'd like to do an auto refresh (fires for about 4 seconds), or you can do it manually for however long you wish. It would be nice if the on/off feature took 5 fire button clicks (instead of 3), and then to access the refresh feature, clicking 3 times. As it stands, I've not used the feature outside of testing it, but it does seem to work in revitalizing flavor.

3YXMs8fTTi2zwNenmWAGqw.png

Quick Firing Time to the Coil:
  • I'm a fan of VooPoo mods (considering mods in the same price range) simply because they fire extremely quick and consistent. This mod does just that, but better being that it has buck boost.
  • I just threw on a Doom X RTA (0.16 ohm single coil), jumped it up to 80w and it fires just as I would expect any good mod to. Mind you, the battery is sitting at about 10-15% right now, and it isn't skipping a beat - again, thanks to buck boost. With a Thunderhead Creations Tauren Max RDTA (0.2 ohm dual coil) - 65w, no problem.
  • I will note however, running a setup that's going to strain the battery is likely to heat your battery and mod up quite a bit. If you're looking to chain vape a dual coil RTA/RDTA, I wouldn't recommend that for this mod. Remember to be mindful of how warm your mod is getting, as this is what is going to be the most detrimental to your battery and chip/mod in terms of life span and longevity. If you treat listed specs as the red line, you should be fine.

MoGcu_O0Rui1TxDzXyNguw.png

External 18650 Battery:
  • A pain for those just getting into vaping, a Godsend for those that already have them.
  • The battery cap is one of the better ones I've run into so far. The Forz 80, Aegis Max, & OBS Engine all have stiff positive connector springs in combination with an extremely fine threading on the cap which makes getting it back on when replacing the battery quite a PITA. For the Forz and Aegis, I understand because they're IP68 rated and need that extra security, but alas. The battery cap on the CoolFire Z80 has two entry points for threading meaning you only have to twist it at most, 1/2 way to catch the threads, and the threading is just aggressive enough get it snug in about 3 turns. The spring is also gentle, but solid enough so that you can quite literally press your thumb down onto the cap while spinning, and it will more or less secure itself. Touche Innokin, touche.
  • The puff counter resets when disconnecting or taking the battery out. I was slightly disappointed about that, as I'm not sure how many puffs I got to before I had to replace the battery. Something to keep track of before I disconnect the battery again.
  • And as always, please know your batteries. If you plan on using all 80w from the mod, please use an OEM verified 30A Continuous Discharge Rated (CDR) battery. If you're using 75w or below, a 25A CDR battery would work. Mooch is the man to find that information out - use the ECF search function to find out what's reliable and what isn't. Also check to make sure the information you find is up to date. Battery companies love to fluff their stats, and pulse ratings are fake.
  • The 1.7A USB-C plug works just fine, but as most vendors would suggest, an external battery charger is highly recommended. It's also generally easier on the mod both internally and externally, as I've had several kits fall to the floor after accidentally hitting the charging cable. I'm also quite clumsy, so take from that what you will.
  • Also, at 20 or so watts, it allows room for a higher capacity battery with a lower Continuous Discharge Rating. A 10A, 3500 mAh would be fine up to 30w. Regardless, this 25A, 2800 mAh Molicel still lasted forever.

PrUMxbfXRlicKAKd-ucqiw.png

Mod Specs:
  • Notice the 1-7.5V listed for "Voltage range". A fully charged battery puts out 4.2V and slowly decreases as it drains. As a single battery mod, this is how we know it's buck boosted.

-Zenith II Tank-

v-k1DDKCS7uGNrrqCJQZBg.png

It's Back? Where Did It Go?:

  • The next step up from the Zenith Pro, although I'm sure some veteran Zenith Pro lovers might argue this.
  • For a DL vaper like myself, their adjustments for RDL vaping are quite suitable.
  • The Glazed Donut juice I'm using in all of my tanks, has a very specific flavor from the Zenith II that I thoroughly enjoy. I'm getting a little bit better of a sugary aftertaste. As others have pointed out before however, some coils/tanks vape custard/pastry/milk differently than say menthol, or fruit flavors. This is what I love about testing kits!

fKEoh7gBS_i3XF9fzu-BTA.png

What has changed from previous Zenith models?

  • I'm new to the Innokin experience, so to me running into a tank that doesn't have replaceable glass is uhhh.... However, I'm glad they addressed that in the Zenith II, lol.
  • Also, they took out the ability to seal off the juice ports when replacing the coil which I think is quite a cool concept, but as it was explained to me by Dimitris, the cost just wasn't there to include it into the new tank. Flipping the tank upside down to simulate like I would take the coil out, the juice tank can be about 3/4 full, maybe more, before you're going to run into spill over issues into the chimney. I think this is a fair trade off versus having to empty the entire tank if a coil goes bad after a refill.
  • I don't suspect the glass being broken very often if at all since it's guarded quite a bit by metal as opposed to your basic tank. I suppose if it falls just right onto metal or from a really high height. Regardless, it's nice to be able to replace the glass.

9NYkMDNGS12Y1IPuQNW18A.png

Newly Designed Top Cap:

  • The juice filling port is plugged with a split membrane. The rubber itself recedes below the spinning cap so that nothing catches.
  • You will likely find it difficult to get a gorilla nozzle fully inside the membrane without taking the drip tip out. At the perfect angle, you can get it just inside enough to fill, but you're likely going to get bubbling at the membrane. This hasn't caused me an issue yet, but I can see where it could.
  • I have tanks that catch my facial hair and it isn't pleasant, lol. Thankfully they addressed this in the new design.

Z5Rc3MQeQpOZAX8wzF4NEA.png

Airflow Control: MTL? RDL? It Does 'em Both, and well.
  • MTL: Fully closed off (all the way clockwise) has quite a rich flavor. I would say it's more concentrated, but not quite as dense or full as the RDL. On the left in the picture above, it's hard to tell, but there are 3 small holes to the left of the vent. They decrease in size as you get closer to the vent on the right. The left hole is just big enough where you can partially close that off even, if you are very particular about the airflow.
  • RDL: Fully open (all the way counter-clockwise) exposes the vent you see on the right in the picture above. For anyone that likes a slightly tighter DL vape, this is quite a treat.

rStGk52_RieoQMfk-Yt9yw.png

Z-Coils:

  • It's not often you run into kit/tank that houses coils all the way from 0.3 ohms to 1.6 ohms.
  • The Zenith II
  • Based on my experience so far, and from the reviews and people I've talked to about these coils, they're highly regarded in quality for both flavor and longevity. I have heard of people having issues with the 1.2 ohm coil, but I do not have experience with that so I cannot confirm or deny. Just something to keep in mind.

Ic7CmNobTTire1La_-rreA.png

Exploded View:

  • Exploded views are great, except when it's your battery. Don't do that.

s0Twsuh8SlWduGeSblhcVQ.png

Tank Specs:
  • 3 different tank colors as opposed to the 4 different CoolFire Z80 mod colors. Stainless Steel, Gunmetal, and Black.
  • 26 mm (some vendors claim 25.5 mm) diameter
  • The 0.3 and 0.8 ohm coils listed here are what come in the kit. All Innokin Z Coils (not to be confused with GeekVape Z-series coils) are compatible with this tank.

First Impressions/Observations:

First things first, I want to thank Innokin for using recycled material. I realize this doesn't produce the most glamorous looking packaging, but the effort to reuse recyclables is noticed by some of us.

  1. Coolfire Z80 Mod
  2. Zenith II Tank
  3. 0.8ohm Z Coil (MTL)
  4. 0.3ohm Z Coil (RDL)
  5. 5.5ml Glass Tube
  6. Zenith II RDL Drip Tip
  7. Spare O-Rings Set
  8. Type-C Charging Cable
  9. Quick Start Guide

-CoolFire Z80 Mod Overview-
There are mostly good things to say about the mod. The cons would simply be suggestions, but no actual gripes. The look and finish of the CoolFire Z80 mod is both classy and sleek. The quality machine finish is a polished and quite stunning. The material that covers most of the body is a faux suede (Ash Grey kit) that's quite soft and cushiony to the touch. The leather (Leather White kit) also has cushion to it and is soft; softer than leather car seats. You also don't have to worry about fingerprints. The "Innokin" and "CoolFire Z80" etchings into the metal are not gaudy. I would say the aesthetic reminds me of Greek writing into the side of the Parthenon - it just blends well.

The mod itself is extremely easy to operate. 3 fire clicks to turn it on and off. The menu can be reach by holding both the bottom up and down buttons together for about 2 seconds.

The middle picture is the "F(O)" features that allows you to adjust the hertz, or amount of times electricity is being sent back and forth through the coil for a given amount of time. Recommendations for MTL and RDL (DTL) settings are listed. To the right, you see the max voltage set in Voltage Mode under "POWER" in the menu.

The other setting under "POWER" is Wattage Mode, which is your basic variable wattage mode used in most mods. It should be noted however, that if you select Wattage Mode in the "POWER" menu, it will deactivate the "F(0)" Mode. On the left, Wattage Mode was selected and you can see that a Volt reading will become visible. When selecting a hertz frequency setting in the "F(0)" menu, you will see that frequency value in place of the Volts. Indications on the top left also help to distinguish which mode you're using.

The simple to screw in vented battery cap and underside of the mod.

Final Rating on the CoolFire Z80 Mod:

The only suggestions I have for the mod would be a 217 battery compatibility option (simply because I'm hooked on 217s), for the puff counter not to reset when taking the battery out, and for it to make me breakfast. Love the buck boost. Love it. Love. It.
Love it.
I'd give the mod a 9.5. Not a 10 simply because I'm a 217 battery fanatic now. But for those that don't mind a smaller battery, this is sure to not disappoint.

-Zenith II Tank Overview-

The machining of the tank is top notch. The design flows well with the mod and gives off a tough, but yet again, a classy look. As mentioned before, the flavor I get with the Zenith II in RDL is something else. It's different, and it's great. If you are cloud chaser however, this is not the kit for you. I've been able to more or less chain vape at 20w with zero hitches what-so-ever, and I believe the battery I just replaced lasted me about 1 and 1/2 tanks - so 8ish mL. A very happy medium as a DL/RDL vaper. I've been using the 0.8 ohm coil which the highest ohm drop in coil I've ever used. Very pleased with the result. I can only assume the 0.3 will produce something closer to what I'm familiar with, so likely as good or possibly better for a RDL vape. There are some things to note, which I will mention below.

The Gunmetal is a fingerprint magnet. Easy to wipe off, but quite noticeable under a light. Maybe if you fingerprint the whole thing, it won't be noticeable? I'm unsure how effected the black is though.

As I mentioned above, you really gotta cram the gorilla bottle into the membrane at just the right angle or juice will plug up the membrane, and then you are no longer filling the tank - you'll be filling your table top or lap. As you can see in the right picture, I actually punctured the membrane from cramming it in there, but as Dimitris mentioned in response to someone else's question about the membrane, it shouldn't effect the performance of the tank even if it were to come completely out since the refill slot will be covered when you spin the top back closed. I haven't noticed any adverse effects either.

This is to show why they opted to take out the auto juice port cutoff mechanism found in the Zenith Pro. In the left picture I canted the tank just a bit so you can see how full it is. The juice was so full that it went above the visible glass portion of the tank. On the right, I flipped it over as if to replace the coil, and lo and behold - the juice comes just below the juice ports which is where your juice would leak out normally during a coil replacement. I wouldn't however suggest replacing a coil with this much juice in it, but it can be done if you're very careful about balancing the tank completely vertical on the drip tip and not tipping it over.

Final Rating on the Zenith II Tank: (I know you guys are thinking 'OMG, when does this end!')

There really isn't much to be said in terms of negativity. It looks great. There have been no leaks so far, the tank cleans up nicely, and the performance is great. If I had to rate the tank by itself, against every other tank I've vaped from - I'd give it a 8.5 or 9. I don't blow through my juice to get the same amount of joy as I would in some of the other tanks that also produce good flavor. Sure, they might produce more clouds, but I'm not a cloud chaser, so that isn't a huge negative for me.

Innokin Coolfire Z80 w/ Zenith II Tank Kit Full Review - Z-Lee

uN_FzOWMSJyea3UqG9L2Tg.png

4 Different Color Combos:
  • Ash Grey (which is what I received)
  • Cloudy Grey
  • Leather Black
  • Leather White

Fourier Tech's 4th Gen AC "Frequency Mode" - F(O):

Real Selfie

First Impressions/Observations:

First things first, I want to thank Innokin for using recycled material. I realize this doesn't produce the most glamorous looking packaging, but the effort to reuse recyclables is noticed by some of us.

The menu can be reach by holding both the bottom up and down buttons together for about 2 seconds.

menu, hertz, vv.jpg

The middle picture is the "F(O)" features that allows you to adjust the hertz, or amount of times electricity is being sent back and forth through the coil for a given amount of time. Recommendations for MTL and RDL (DTL) settings are listed. To the right, you see the max voltage set in Voltage Mode under "POWER" in the menu.

F0 Disabled.jpg

The other setting under "POWER" is Wattage Mode, which is your basic variable wattage mode used in most mods. It should be noted however, that if you select Wattage Mode in the "POWER" menu, it will deactivate the "F(0)" Mode. On the left, Wattage Mode was selected and you can see that a Volt reading will become visible. When selecting a hertz frequency setting in the "F(0)" menu, you will see that frequency value in place of the Volts. Indications on the top left also help to distinguish which mode you're using.

20210802_221749.jpg

There are some things to note, which I will mention below.

tankfingerprints.jpg

The Gunmetal is a fingerprint magnet. Easy to wipe off, but quite noticeable under a light. Maybe if you fingerprint the whole thing, it won't be noticeable? I'm unsure how effected the black is though.

refillingissues.jpg

As I mentioned above, you really gotta cram the gorilla bottle into the membrane at just the right angle or juice will plug up the membrane, and then you are no longer filling the tank - you'll be filling your table top or lap. As you can see in the right picture, I actually punctured the membrane from cramming it in there, but as Dimitris mentioned in response to someone else's question about the membrane, it shouldn't effect the performance of the tank even if it were to come completely out since the refill slot will be covered when you spin the top back closed. I haven't noticed any adverse effects either.

refilling.jpg

Has anyone ever purchased or used Delosi 100 mg salt nicotine? I can but Carolina Extract or Perfect Vape and living in NY those are about my 2(expensive) choices.Since mail ban I was quite happy with LNW salt for 89$/liter I was just wondering if Delosi also had decent quality salt nic? Oddly I heard they don't used Benzoic acid which is main ingredient thet takes harshness from freebase..i mean I only vape 12-15 mg but certainly don't want any harshness like the Ave salt nic is normally smooth up to 50 mg..thank you guys any direction would help..Mike

Geekvape L200 (Legend 2) 200W TC Kit with Z Subohm Tank - Review

Hi ECF members, In this review i take a look at the L200 200W TC Kit with Z Subohm Tank from Geekvape. The L200 200W TC Kit with Z Subohm Tank was supplied for the purpose of this review by Allison from Geekvape.

Geekvape L200

iTQA6iv.png

Introduction

Geekvape have become known over the last 4 and half years for their IP67 Aegis devices and leak resistance Zeus range of atomizers and I must admit if I was reviewing this Kit a few months ago one con would of been "not yet another Aegis" but as Geekvape have now started releasing the Obselik range and this see's many updates then I will let that one go!

The L200 AKA The Legend 2 is the updated version of the mega selling Aegis Legend which was released 4 years ago and still selling well. The Legend 2 is both smaller and lighter using more plastic on the device yet claims to have even better shock proofing, the Legend 2 also has an IP68 rating which means it can be submerged in water for even longer than the previous IP67 Aegis devices while still having the maximum dust ingress protection. We also see a Type C USB Port and improved flip open seal as well as a larger, sharper display!

In this kit we see the L200 (Legend 2) teamed up with the Z Subohm tank which apart from a new logo and branding is basically the Zeus Subohm Tank with updated larger airflow slots but apart from that and as mentioned the rebranding as in new logo on the chamber etc it looks and performed pretty much the same apart from allowing for more airflow.

This is a cracking high performing kit with just a few annoying cons so to find out more let's crack on!

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

The Legend 2 Kit came in usual cardboard box packaging with outer cardboard sleeve which had a picture in the chosen colour on the front and contents etc on the reverse. On opening i found the legend 2 proudly on display in the top layer with the Z subohm tank and other accessories below. I received the Rainbow version which was paired with a Rainbow tank, the options are Stainless Steel, Gunmetal, Black, Blue, Gold, Rainbow or Red.

The Legend 2 has a mainly plastic body which I must admit on my Rainbow version they did a good job given it an anaesthetic look to match the metal brackets almost giving it an all metal look! So the sides consists of the plastic main frame, the metal bracket which sweeps both sides and also both sides has "GEEKVAPE" embossed into the metal. The spine has a heavily padded leather section then moving to the tinted front plastic panel we have a light switch style fire button top and horizontally position double switch rocker bottom, between is the screen. The front also has rubber cut corner sections top and bottom with the top one being the seal for the Type C USB port.

W4HWRk6.jpg

Moving to the top and like on the Obelisk instead of having a 510 plate we have the whole top surface brushed Stainless Steel with the threading directly drilled into the Stainless Steel top, the 510 is Gold plated and spring loaded, it has a stiff but above average throw, very nice!

YwWpvCi.jpg

Moving to the bottom we have the rubberised hatch door with etched safety stamps and a metal release catch! With the device having a mainly plastic body and the lack of a rubberised shell the Legend 2 is less busy and looks slicker as well as being both smaller and lighter making it really good ergonomically to carry about and use in comfort!

Z Subohm Tank Various Parts

Starting at the top we have a wide bore goon fit delrin 810 drip tip which can be swapped for one of your own if you prefer. The top-cap is the usual bayonet design so just a slight turn needed and it's off, the base section also screws off. The glass can be wiggled free as it's secured top and bottom with O-rings you receive a spare bubble glass with the standard version and straight 2ml glass with the TPD version. The airflow control ring can also be easily removed (in fact too easily) which leaves the juice port and airflow intake section with attached double walled chamber. The coils get press fitted into the chamber and the base section has a positive plate for the bottom of the coil to make contact with. We get all the usual spare O-rings and also a coil removal tool which is a nice touch but personally I didn't find any need for it.

Jxl44w3.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Airflow

The Z Sub-ohm Tank has a top to bottom airflow system with large dual airflow slots that are fully adjustable, this is the only performance upgrade I can see from the Zeus Subohm tank which has slightly smaller airflow slots. You also have a double walled chamber so the air comes in through the slots, down the cavity between the two chamber walls and into the base section. Now we have the air in the base section just as you would if the tank had bottom airflow slots and this air enters the coil head from underneath in the usual manner giving bottom airflow, it's just taking the top to bottom airflow concept of the Zeus RTA's and implementing it in the least complicated way. I don't like to say leakproof but the system gives the Z Sub-ohm tank the same leak resistance that we have seen with past Zeus tanks.

90Y2Vnk.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Coils and Fitting Them

The Z Subohm tank has 2 included coils which are both kanthal mesh. Pre-installed we have the 0.2ohm Mesh single coil head which is rated between 70-80W. The other included coil is the 0.25 dual coil head which has a rating between 45-57W, the specs are etched onto the coil head shells.

The mesh is more of a Netting style giving plenty of surface area with large gaps between so wicking will be no issue, the coils also have 4 very large wicking ports.

The coil head simply gets press fitted into the chamber and pulled out to remove, if you have any problems pulling the coil head out you do receive a tool to help but I have had no issues. Looking on the chamber we can see 2 large wicking ports to allow e-liquid to surround the coil head as the chambers main purpose was to deliver airflow from the top to the bottom and having plug in coils is cleverly taking advantage of having the chamber present. We also have 2 protruding tabs on the coil heads and little indents on the side of the chamber, these tabs need to be lined up for the coil to be properly fitted!

TCRURtH.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Filling The Tank

Just like with the Zeus Subohm tank which really this is with just larger airflow slots the airflow control ring is too loose which seems a petty con but it is annoying because i both like some resistance (there is none) and it also sometimes pops off when removing the top-cap for filling, although it's loose at least we do have stoppers!

The top-cap is less than half a turn and it's off, it's the same bayonet design Geekvape have used on previously Zeus atomisers. Once off the 2 kidney shaped fill ports are revealed which are quite narrow so large nozzles and glass droppers won't fit but most standard nozzles will be fine. Luckily there is quite a deep channel between the edge of the tank and air pipe section so it won't be messy if using larger nozzles as any juice will gather in the channel and find it's way into the ports. Once filled just position the bayonet tabs in place push down and give it a slight turn.

Fitting The Batteries

We have a spring loaded battery door on the base with release mechanism that has vertical grooves which needs sliding to retract the catch to allow the door to spring open, it is quite stiff but that's a good thing as the catch and release mechanism is sturdy and looks to be very durable, it's also because it's a very tight fit and rubber silicone to create a good seal.

The Legend 2 accommodates dual 18650 batteries and orientation is marked vibrantly inside the compartment but is just embossed on the contact plate so not easily seen, I would much prefer this to be Bright White. To close just push shut until you feel the latch secure, as mentioned it seems durable but with all these bottom door devices only time will tell!

Display

The display is bright despite having a tinted cover and also very sharp, it is also very familiar if you have some of the previous Aegis devices that tend to use the same display and menu system. Everything is lined up vertically so up top we have the mode, then underneath the battery status bars followed by either wattage, temp or voltage depending which mode you are in.

In the lower section we first have resistance followed by amps, then voltage and finally the puff count which is labelled "C" for count rather than "P" for puffs, this shows vape duration while firing!

Operating The Device

The Legend 2 is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off, but once on holding both + and - sides of the rocker at the same time does not lock the navigational rocker like on the Obelisk instead we have what's called the A-Lock which is a catch on the side of the device which you slide one way to lock the device and the other to unlock. I do really like the A-lock but it locks the whole device including firing so I still want a way to lock just the navigational rocker! The brightness percentage of the display can also be adjusted by either pressing fire and left together to decrease or fire and right to increase!

v83bGYc.png

3 clicks of the fire button highlights the mode which can then be changed by using the navigational rocker, the modes are Power, TC-Ni, TC-Ti, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC (power curve) and Bypass.

When the mode can be changed via the navigational rocker a press of the fire button will take you to any item on the screen which can be altered in turn so for example when the screen is on power but still highlighted then a press of the fire button will highlight Puffs and pressing - will reset them, when TC-SS is highlighted for example it works the same way and you have options to resample and lock resistance. Also when a mode is highlighted pressing both sides of the navigational rocker changes the colour of the accents on the display, each press changes them to a new colour, the options are Orange, Yellow, Blue, Light Green or Purple!

jC4niAE.jpg

When VPC (power curve) is highlighted each press of the fire button allows the next section of the curve to be altered using the navigational buttons and when finished holding fire for 2 seconds sets the curve!

On the normal working screens the wattage can be adjusted from 5w to 200w in 0.5w increments with single presses or 1w increments with an adjustment button held down, it scrolls quickly and round robins. Again in TC the temp round robins between Celsius and Fahrenheit with Celsius adjusting in 1 degree increments while Fahrenheit adjusts in 5 degree increments. Finally holding both sides of the navigational rocker at the same time as pressing fire is stealth mode so the device will operate with no display, repeating the process brings the device out of stealth mode, stealth mode is also a way of nothing being able to be adjusted while still allowing the device to fire!

IP68 Rating

Like the other Aegis devices the Legend 2 is Waterproof, Dustproof and Shockproof although the Shockproof is actually separate to the IP rating which covers Dust ingress protection and Waterproofing, although according to their website this has improved shock proof credentials compared to past Aegis devices. The device is 30% lighter and 15% smaller than the Legend which is mainly because of the use of a lot of plastic which doesn't logically tell me this will stand up to the same punishment despite the claims regarding shock proofing!

The change in IP rating means rather than being able to be submerged within liquid for up to 1 minute it can be submerged for longer than 1 minute but just how long is not specified in the IP scale but can be set by the manufacturer although it doesn't state how long the Legend 2 can withstand water submersion so no idea if this is a vast improvement or just from previous testing they have realised they can claim the higher rating!

Charging

As ever ! always advise to charge externally but if you do need to charge in the device we have a Type C connection and 2A charge rate. The device also supports updates and pass-through vaping!

The Type C USB port is found underneath the top Silicone cut corner section on the front of the device, being an IP68 device the port is sealed and hidden from view so you need to lift up the silicone section which reveals the port, when putting the Silicone flap back in place make sure you press down firmly to properly seal the port so the waterproof seal isn't compromised!

My Thoughts!

First i start with the Z subohm tank which is an updated version of the Zeus subohm tank with the only permeance change being the larger airflow slots. Both supplied coils i have used before and the 0.2ohm single mesh which gives a very open draw is good for flavour but liking more restriction I much preferred the dual 0.25ohm coil at 50w with airflow just a third open for a quite loose RDL draw, almost a semi restrictive draw, the flavour with this coil I also found to be above average and superior to the single coil which I found best with half airflow and at 70w but just not the way I like to vape, just too open and shutting the airflow down further doesn't suit the coil head!

It's a very decent subohm tank with decent capacity and that leak resistant top to bottom airflow which many love the Zeus range for, the only real con is the very loose AFC. The AFC moved even when in use and found it not to be in the set position after being in my pocket etc, it's just too loose with no resistance to movement. It also popped off several times when removing the top-cap to fill!

The star of the show for me is the Legend 2, i just love the lighter device and trimmed down less busy look yet not only does it have the same piece of mind IP rating but has an increased level of IP68!

ad84CmV.png

The buttons are nice and clicky, it's very comfortable to hold and we have a much sharper display, yes it has a tinted screen but I found the brightness fine and didn't need it turned to max! Another feature i really like is the A-lock which is much quicker and more convenient than shutting down and then booting up but I still want to be able to lock just the navigational buttons but still be able to fire, this however can be achieved by going into Stealth mode.

Although i do like the buttons when tapping the fire button it does give a cheap hollow sound but then apart from me who goes around randomly tapping a fire button with their nail! The device fires insanely quickly and hits set wattage instantly, you also have the curves feature to get the exact vape you are after in regard hard up front, a more even vape or even increasing the power during your vape! I didn't test the TC so if you are a TC user i would do your own research but i have heard from a reliable source the TC works really well, during my testing in power modes the device performed like a trooper with no issues!

The battery door seems solid and has a good seal but just a niggly con, orientation needs to be more visible on the underside of the door. I like how they have the Silicone flap on the top front cut corner section which makes lifting free and resealing much easier than with other designs, also have a Type C USB with 2A charge rate is another improvement although i personally would still encourage to charge externally, the device also supports upgrades and pass-through vaping! Finally it has the very familiar display and user friendly menu system as seen on many previous Aegis devices!

So there is much to like with just a couple of petty cons mentioned but for me it has one massive con and that is the top flat metal section is only 24mm wide before the sides taper away! A dual battery device that gives overhang with atomisers over 24mm in diameter in 2021 is a blind spot on Geekvape's behalf and will for many be a deal breaker despite the device being excellent!

Have an older Topside Dual with a busted battery door?

The older versions of the Dovpo Topside Dual had a problem with the battery door/body shell breaking and rendering the mod useless. Dovpo now offers replacement body shells and battery doors with an updated design. I ordered a body/door from Dovpo to get my mod back in the action.

The new body shell and battery door are $12 + either $10 slow boat shipping or $20 DHL shipping. I'd suggest the cheaper shipping option. I opted for the $20 DHL shipping and it still took three weeks. If you want to change up the look, you can order any color body shell.

My Topside Dual is now back in action.

The Uwell Whirl T1 Pod Mod Review by Delores

Sourcemore sent me the Uwell Whirl T1 Pod Mod Kit for the purpose of this review.

wh 1.jpg

The Whirl T1 is a draw activated pod mod that is so small and simple, it’s almost perfect for anyone who is trying to quit smoking via vaping. Charge it, fill it, vape it. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

All you get in the box is the pod mod with the UN2 meshed-H .75 ohm refillable pod already installed, a warning card, and a user manual. There is no charging cable in the box, so I checked Sourcemore’s description, and it says one will be provided separately. I didn’t receive one – not a problem for me, as I have a couple of them – but it could be a problem for a new vaper. I can imagine how easily these could be mailed out or sold at shops without the cords, and someone would be opening the box at home with no way to charge their new gear. I have a lot of nice things to say about this pod, but this needs to be addressed before I’ll recommend it.

The pod holds 3 mls of liquid, and is filled through a tiny port in the bottom – see the red silicon. I’m not a fan of the bottom fill, especially when there is plenty of room on top of the pod for a port. But so far it hasn’t leaked. On the back, there’s an air flow adjuster, and it closes down to a nice MTL, opens to a decent restricted DL. It’s better than I expected, really. It clips into the mod securely with a tiny ridge around the inside of the mod and minuscule tabs on the pod. Tabs is perhaps not the right word, more like little nubs. Put it this way, they don’t stick out enough to break off, and I’m sure they’ll hold up just fine over the life of the pod. I’ve been pulling the pod repeatedly and so far they’re not even phased.
wh 3.jpg

The air flow adjuster - slide to the right for open, left for closed.

Why am I pulling the pod so much, you ask? Of course to fill it, to see how those nubs hold up, and to adjust the air. But also because that’s how you adjust the power setting. Both the mod and pod are triangular in shape, and the power output is changed by spinning the pod. On the screen, one arrow lights up for 14 watts, two arrows for 15 watts, and three arrows for 16 watts. I love this. There’s no way to accidentally change your power output.

wh4.jpg

Before use, pull that blue safety tape off. The fill port is visible in this picture, but sorry, I could not get a good shot of the numbers. If the fill port aligns with the screen, the device is on its lowest setting. If II, it's on medium, III is for high.

The mod has a plastic bottom and screen, with an aluminum wrap around the body for durability. The battery is 1300 mAh, and charges on the bottom with a C type charger. That’s another thing I’m not a fan of. The shape of this mod means it stands up nicely, why would you want to lay it down to charge it?
wh5.jpg

The .70 ohm pod gives good flavor and reasonable vapor. The kit is small, light, and comfortable to hold, perfect for pocket or purse. Nice looking, too. It comes in red, light blue, grey, camo, dark blue and black.

wh 2.jpg

Shown here in light blue.

With a few tweaks, this could be a really great kit. It works well, the flavor is quite good, it charges fast, it's durable and conveniently sized. Not a fan of the bottom fill, bottom charge, and no cable in the box, and for those reasons I likely won't be investing in any replacement pods.

You can buy this kit at Sourcemore for $17.10 with code WHIRK.

Thanks, Sourcemore for the opportunity to review the Whirl T1!
