Hmm, I have recently purchased minifit max, and bought some new pods as have been going back to using these simple devices.... but just lately noticed my pods are not quite right somehow.... cleaned, recottoned, etc but still not quite right.... Today we have a pod system from Vaporesso that has a very minimalistic simple design to it that is featherlight with no buttons making it very easy for the user to operate. Vaporesso has been releasing quite a few devices lately that run the gamut from full size to like todays review device small. As always we will get to know a little bit more in detail about the device then I'll give you my findings later on.

4 AIRFLOW OPTIONS




The Barr offers a different type of airflow settings, with the Pod itself being cube shaped you are able to get 4 different options by rotating the pod cartridge . At the very bottom of the Pod cartridge there are air symbols inside of a circle that range from 1-4 airflow symbols, simply pick the airflow you want and insert the cartridge into the pod with the airflow symbol facing the 5 air inlets on the device. Here is a couple of pictures of the symbols with 1 being the tightest and 4 being the most loose setting.







The Cartridge uses a 1.2Ω mesh coil that is easily filled by opening the rubber plug located on the side of the cartridge. The hole fits a gorilla bottle tip easily and is mess free. Also the rubber plug can be rotated away making the filling process easier for the user.






When you first open the box and pull the cartridge from the device you will notice a red sticker Vaporesso applies to prevent premature firing of the device before filling it first, simply fill the cartridge with juice and let it sit for 10 minutes then pull off the red sticker and it's ready to vape.




The Barr uses a very unique shaped mouth piece that is connected with the cartridge that has to be in the shape it is because of the way the airflow system is designed, because of this shape the user will find it much easier to use by holding the device on it's corners.



As I said earlier the Barr has no buttons and is draw activated only. Installing the cartridge you will hear it click into place very secure. Inside the device itself you can see the 2 contacts for the coil inside the cartridge and the auto draw switch along with the 5 air inlet holes on the device itself.



One thing I have to point out again is the device is much easier to use holding the corners and not the flat side of the device, it's no problem because the Barr is featherlight and you quickly get used to it. Because the Barr utilizes a 350 mAH battery you will not get a full day's use or even a half day's use, remember the Barr gives you 11 watts output and on a 350 mAH battery that does not last very long.

In my usage I get about 3 to 4 hrs of use or a cartridge and almost another half before the Barr needs recharging and there is no battery indicator to let you know it's getting low and time to charge so when you go through a cartridge full of juice I would recharge the Barr.

I would class the Barr as a MTL device and recommend Nic Salts for a even better experience using the Barr. The airflow settings don't really change in a very big way and the auto draw for me worked best on the #1 setting which is the lowest-tightest and my favorite of the 4 airflow settings. For what the Barr is intend for I feel it performs very well with very good flavor as well as a passible throat hit and enough vapor to make me happy.







FINAL THOUGHTS

The Barr will get you through a few hrs of errands without having to bring a larger device and give the user that is a MTL type of vaper a satisfying use. It's featherlight and very pocketable and I've enjoyed using it and will continue to use it.

Review:
As mentioned it looks a lot like the Aegis Legend, the SCAR-18 is however a bit smaller (4mm narrower and 2mm lower) and lighter(70g lighter). It feels very properly built and lays in the hand very well, both thumb and index finger firing are comfortable.

Metal frame looks very nice, but just like all metal parts on this mod it is very prone to fingerprints. The leather used feels nice and I like the design of this specific color. Not sure if you can customize the leather part by taking of the metal frame. Silicone is well attached to the mod, not sitting loosely on any corner.




Went ahead and checked if it really is waterproof, dropped in a glass of water and left it there for 5 minutes. No issues at all, mod worked fine and had a nice clean. Did not want to go as far as dropping it or by letting a truck drive over though



Large fire button and the navigation buttons sit flush with no rattling. They all click nicely.

Generally I am not a fan of this type of battery doors as for me they always feel fragile. It takes some practice to properly close it by pushing it down properly before clicking in place. Opening the door is no issue at all. Since the battery door is mainly made from metal it is also prone to fingerprints. Also, the top of device, which has a 510 spring-loaded pin, is made from metal.




No massive screen, but a large enough screen to see what needs to be seen. Like the fact it has dual battery indication, and they seem to drain evenly. As far as I know its brightness is not adjustable, which is kind of a pity.

Funny enough this mod does not only look from the outside like a Legend, but even the menu and way of navigation is pretty much identical to the Aegis line. Main difference is that the SCAR-18 instead of brightness adjustment has theme adjustment.



5 clicks on/off, 3 clicks to activate the menu and the + and - button to scroll through the menu. Easy in use and there is for me enough functionalities as I am a wattage vaper. Apart from wattage there is TC and that’s it, no bypass mode etc.

Device reacts very well to any click and it fires up pretty much instantly. Also it seems to have constant output, even at 1% battery capacity you are getting the full power as if it has 100%, at least that’s my feeling.

TFV9 tank is what you get in the kit, and I really like this tank.

It has a quite unique fill system by pulling the top cap up and sliding the top cap to the side and away from the tank. It feels a bit fragile while opening and closing, but after 2 weeks of use I didn’t have any issues with it. Its child proof system is always a good thing as I have a kid.




Because of the system the rubber plug gets a bit deformed overtime, that is why SMOK included another one in case it needs replacement. Large enough fill hole for easy filling.



Coils are screwed into the base, a system which I overall am not a fan off, I am more a fan of plug systems, but then again, those systems don’t use large high wattage coils. Screwing coils on and off is smooth.

Airflow has one large sleeve, but the base of the tank has two sleeves, probably to make the base more solid. It is quite loud this airflow, no matter if its fully open or almost closed, it also whistles when the airflow is about 80% closed, pity.



If its about flavor and performance there is nothing to complain. These new Nichrome mesh coils deliver outstanding flavor and have a proper lifespan. Been using the initial coil for 2 weeks now and it still performs well. It says the coils are recommended from 40-90 Watts, but I have a feeling that above 80W they are having trouble keeping up and providing a dryer hit. I liked vaping these coils most at 75W, at which it has no issues with chain vaping.



Not sure about the coil options, on the SMOK website I can only find this one V9 Meshed coil that is compatible.

Conclusion:

A lovely kit if you ask me. Even though it has a lot in common as the Aegis Legend from Geekvape it still has its unique twist to it. It is a comfortable mod with enough functionalities for me personally. It being IP67 is always a plus.

Overall would recommend this kit to anyone that is looking for a nice dual battery mod that includes a tank that delivers well. I am not going to say if I prefer the Legend or Scar-18, as they are so similar, and both have some uniqueness to them. Try it out for yourself, I can assure that both won’t disappoint.

If anything, I don’t like it is mainly to do with the tank being loud and the fill method feeling a bit fragile. If it’s about the mod, the metal is too prone to fingerprints.

I'm usually vaping at just 14 watt (mouth to lung, nothing heavy).

Now I'm soon getting a new mod that takes 21700 batteries, so I'm searching for the best batteries without spending too much or too little.
(aiming for Samsung, LG or Sony, to be safe)

I see some batteries hold 5000 mah, like the Samsung 50E (cyan).
But it only has about 10 amp discharge rate.
So less than half than "regular" 4000 mah batteries for example.

Is 10 amp more than enough for vaping at just 14 watts, or should I find a more "high-drain" battery?
I want to be safe and avoid risks or heat.

Vaporesso GTX Tank 18 is quite small, and surprisingly it's able to hold 2ml or 3ml of e-liquid. It'll hold that maximum amount with the pre-installed bubble glass tank section. If you don't like this look, you can always opt for the straight glass. For me, I'd stick with the bubble tank and the extra 1ml of vape juice. Inside the box, you'll get two coils in total. One, which is pre-installed, is the 0.8ohm mesh. The other is a 1.2ohm mesh. The filling is quite easy, as the top cap comes off completely.

There's plenty of room for any type of bottle you might be using. Adjusting the bottom airflow is simple as well. It stops when either fully opened or fully closed, making it even easier to take apart. The coil replacement is a breeze too as it uses a plug-and-play coil system. We've seen this in many sub ohm tanks, so we're glad Vaporesso went this route. The included delrin drip tip is comfortable, and best suited for mouth to lung vaping with its narrow bore. It doesn't get hot while vaping either - an added bonus.

@Vaporesso_Chelsea So I just bought a PM80 SE and it works pretty well so far. I bought this because on the Vaporesso website, the product description page displays Pulse mode directly underneath the PM80 SE picture. Because of this, I expected that one of the functions of this mode would be Pulse mode. My problem is that Pulse mode is not listed as one of the functions on the mod itself. Does the PM80 SE have the Pulse Mode?

If it does have the Pulse Mode, how do I get to it? If it doesn't, you need to remove the pulse mode picture and description from the product description page. (And I will be very disappointed.)
