I for one am relieved that the temp control works without any glitch. My biggest fear was that this (obviously rushed out) first batch would have some major bug and the lack of firmware update would mean we're stuck with it. Doesn't seem to be the case.

Ok, so this mod fires at 4.2V on a fresh battery? So I can run in power under 50W with certain resistances, right? I was going to put an Ubertoot,.dual coiled with kanthal at 0.6ohms on it first. I want to run around 30W. Or do I need to go straight to tc mode?
Additional clarification... Ability to go below the battery's nominal voltage allows you to regulate power at low resistances. If you're stuck at the battery's output 3.8-4.2V) and use a very low resistance coil, you loose the ability to lower your power output. So for instance, on a 0.4 ohm coil at 4.2V, the minimum you can achieve is around 44W. Hope that helps.
Yes, the higher the resistance, the better you can regulate power. So, for instance, at 1 ohm, you can go down to 17W. Your 0.6 should allow 30W.

At this point in the evolution of vape gear, VW mode is a legacy feature in the TC mods.
I rarely run anything below 4.2V so no step down has never been an issue for me. Thanks for your response
. I'm not sure I would do a good job on a dual ti build in that atty. Its really a single coil atty, but I think it shines best with dual stacked coils.

Well, I would respectfully disagree. Many people have no interest in TC right now. The cost of OEM coils is higher and of the people that roll their own, maybe some (me) are happy with the status quo.
So at this point, TC is half baked. Not ready for prime time due to cost/hassle etc.

I was looking at THIS one for the form factor and ability to do TC when the price comes down on Ni200 OCC. I doubt I could even source nickel supplies locally to me if I wanted to roll my own.... so TC is a down the road thing for me.
I think it gets comical, people blaming something for being what it is rather than getting their facts straight before purchasing or looking at something that meets their expectations.
Many of the Mods say they will do 5w or 7w on the low side when they have no Buck circuitry. They also list their Resistance points like .2ohm to 3ohm. Somewhere in there they will do as specified.
Well, its cost prohibitive, I build my own coils. Guess what, so do I and I know how to read a chart or calculate needed resistance to meet requirements.
Not sure why anyone building their own coils is concerned with 7w but oh well, it is what it is.

1.8ohm Kayfun would happily cruise along at 11w
2.8ohm Protank would run days @ 6.3w
.8ohm dual coil Magma will be excellent at or above 22w
Having a proper Vape is All inclusive, not just a mod or a tank or a coil preference.

All the above clarifies, thank you...I run .75 Nichrome builds at 23.6 watts and live at 4.2 volts, so step down isn't something I'll miss.
Yup, I gotta agree. I've hardly touched anything besides rebuildables in the last year, and I've played with TC off and on ever since the DNA40 came out.
I won't touch nickel anymore - I don't have an allergy or anything, it's just not possible to get the vape I'm used to on 28 or 30 gauge wire. 24 or 26 gauge nichrome or kanthal around 0.4-0.5 ohms are my go-to builds. Mucking about with flimsy thin gauge nickel coils is a pain, and doesn't perform as well as my other builds.
Sure, I'm kinda old school, but I spent way too much time with kanthal and nichrome before anyone had even thought of temp control.

I think it's fair to be disappointed about the lacking feature. My post was about that...
nickel occ coils listed on ebay.ca are 20$ each pack before shipping. I pay 13 for regular occ coils/pack. No thanks.
I have a few DNA's and other TC mods that'll buck if I ever need it. I got this for work at various job sites. I'll prolly never use this for anything other than TC. Still a great mod for $50. Now I'm on the hunt for a sleeve cause I don't these work too well with PVC primer, glue, and dry wall dust etc. inside.
I can buy the OCC Ni200 coils at a local B&M for $3 each.
