I don't know what you mean by 'topper'. I've been leaving fill plugs out all of the time, during this lengthy process of learning to build these things.
Discolored juice, and as I got better w building--overwicking. Plus, on a single coil i like 0.7-1.0Ω. So i left the plug out to avoid those nasty dry-hits that taste of death!!
On the DiD, with the 3.5mm wick hole, and using a 2.5mm bit, i was overwicking. I rebuilt it last night, and put a fill-screw in. So far, vaping really well.
The Agas have a small wick hole. I can slide a 2.5 mm bit in there with ease. But today i tried using a 2.0mm bit instead, leaving more space around the wick. So i used fill-screws in the
Agas as well, thinking that the increased space around the wick will prevent a vacuum.
And i used raw mesh and pulsed it this time.
Yeah, i'm gambling lolol

Those really tasty Mesh dry hits! fun aren't they!!
Good that the DID is working well for you...I do love my DID..and still use it most days.
Never used an Aga, so I don't know them at all.. but all gennies are quite similar for building aren't they. Small differences between them, but if you can get one working great you can usually get any of them doing the same. Hopefully the space round the wick will let air flow back in better now...Time will tell!
So you didn't burn the wick this time then? How did you get on with hot spots? any worse than usual? If it works for you I may try that on my next build. Or maybe just put some juice on it after I roll it, and burn that off a couple of times if my hot spots are too bad. Good luck with it, and if I hear coughing and spluttering coming from across your way, I know whats happened eh!!:D

Don't have much to contribute, as I haven't used a Genisis setup in years, but it irks me when I see people calling it a Genesis atty. It's not. It's a Genisis atty (different spelling). Most people don't know any better, and those that do often have to deal with autocorrect...

Per Raidy, the inventor of the concept:
"Genisis = Genial Simpler Siebdampfer = ingeniously simple mesh steamer

In Germany we say steamer instead of atomizer."

No i don't use a topper. I have tried in the past to make a wick using two pices of mesh but it didn't go well.
When i rebuilt the DiD last nite, I torched the top half of the wick.
I wound up redoing my Agas and torching the mesh. My own darned fault anyway. I gave the pulsing too much power and fried a hole in the mesh. Now they're vaping good with fill plugs, and i won't have to worry about hot spots later.
And maybe get some of my other choring done lol

Glad they are vaping well with the fill-plugs in anyway...

I will stick to torching then, if you found it better to do that. I was a bit worried about the wick maybe touching the tank somewhere if not torched, especially on the center post style of gennys, where the wick goes over the center post... very easy to touch a side that way.

Never used clapton wire. For a mesh setup i am not sure they would work well. The wire wrapped around the core wire is thin gauge usually, like 34. And those might break when sorting out hotspots.
I've set up gennys with twisted wire and with ribbon. They worked ok,but the coils aren't as long-lasting. And the twisted gunked up really fast.
Dug out a couple clones Chi-You stainless and a King stainless. Am trying to save my Tesla Sub Boxes for out and about. I can't find any more Tesla Sub Boxes for sale. Ordered a couple Eleaf I power mods that i am going to use in bypass mode, since i use kanthal mostly to build.
I am glad that i have enough of my fav attys and stocked up on parts to last me forever.

On my fav on the go atty, the hated AgaT--i worked around the tiny jam nuts by using spare DiD jam nuts. So that I can use 28 or 26g wire with ease, without the lead popping out. Prolly if there was a polycarbonate tank to be used with the DiD, i would use them out of the house. I like seeing the juice

Don't know if you are still looking for clear tanks for that In'Ax MK?, but Fasttech has clones of that and the Nextasis that you could get for spare parts.
I'm bummed about my BF99--could not get it to stop leaking, even with an o ring swap. But I am trying to be disciplined and not acquire any more attys. No more!! But i found an authentic on line....

No more!!!!lolol

Thanks for that GC.. the more i think about Clapton coils, the more i think its a bad idea... lots of mucking about and i seriously doubt if i would get a better vape than i do now with my simple builds.. so that another idea of mine on the scrapheap then eh!!

About your Tesla boxes... have you looked at the Tesla Invader 3 at all? Its not a built in battery but twin 18650's, but apart from that its about the same. Mech mod with safety protection built into it., and up to 240 watts. (or so it claims!) I have one and its excellent...really hard hitting, good battery life and is small and feels great in the hand..I know if it breaks or i lose it I would buy another one tomorrow.

I bought a few clones from Slowtech, but only have two left now, the Nextasis, and an Origen Version 2 Mk2.and will be getting rid soon as I could do with the cash they bring in to see if I can afford a new Nextasis, which will probably be some time yet!. Been working for a long time to get all authentic attys, and don't really want to buy any more if i can help it!. Temptation is a terrible thing though eh!! Will Power Lady.. Will Power!!

Thank You Mr Taff!!
That is an Aios that i tried once again to set up in tank mode.It is a hybrid atty that can be used with either Chi You or King.Mine are clones, of course.
When you said something about SS cable, I went online to a vape vendor here in the States. I got 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm cable in two days.I was going to wait awhile to play with it. Then I thot--let's mess around with the Aios some more.

So I don't know if you are familiar with Aios. It is a real, uh, UNIQUE atty, that can be set up in dripper mode, or you can set up a vertical wick like this setup that I did. Then try to put the tank OVER the wick, without messing up your build. Upside/Down genny. Mine usually floods and hot-spots, a GR8 combo, lol.The 2.0mm cable wouldn't fit the 2.0mm tank hole. When i just used 1.5 mm cable in the hole, the juice just leaked all down.

So I wrapped one turn of mesh around the cable, then made a little nubbin at the end to fit a 2.5 mm coil. The coil is the same as on the Silver Dog. 6/5 28g nichrome80. I attempted this twice, this time, before I got a nice vape off of it.

You should google Aios. This thing's a trip and a half!! I never was successful with just mesh alone on this thing. Thanks again for suggesting cables!! I may even try them out in the Aga TD--another atty i mess around with when i'm bored, lol!!

I have taken a look on YouTube for that atty GC and it is certainly different! Makes a strange kinda sense though to have the wicking assisted by gravity. It looks like it should wick well.. Not sure if i would have the patience for building that though but would not mind trying!!..

Any problems with flooding, leaking etc. with it after the rope and mesh wick? Also i see that its a hybrid that only works on the Chi? can you tell me what threading it has as i am wondering if it will also fit on my MCR mod which is hybrid only...but i do have a hybrid adapter so it may work on other mech mods.
Is it M20X1 ?

Sitting here at the moment vaping on this:-

okyNS2X.jpg

Tesla Invader 3 and my In'Ax MKIII.. Excellent combo..It just all works as it should, so a great vape and one that I use for most of the day. Got the invader set for about 4.2 volts, as far as i can tell...it may be a little over that but its working great.

I seem to find myself using this or the Rocket 3 with my home brewed tobacco flavor or my Peach Yogurt flavor juice.

Sunday morning here now, so a day of watching sport on the TV for me! have a good day folks..

Mr Taff, m21x1. Chi You, King, and Astro have this threading.
So far, this Aios setup is still working, lol. Atty screws direct to battery.
When i just used the 1.5mm cable and the mesh 'bottom', it leaked all down. When i sleeved the entire cable with a turn of mesh, it worked perfectly

Is that Tesla 2 batteries or 3? Parallel or series? Never mind, just saw your description of it in your prev post

I store this tank upside down with the air contol ring closed. When i right it to screw onto the mod, i draw on it with the air holes closed, a primer pull. Then roll it back and forth in my hands to get the juice flowing back down to the coil. Never had a kayfun or Taifun. My Next gens i would give a primer pull sometimes with the air holes closed if it sat awhile.
