Hey all, I think I've gone crazy. So I normally build a coil using 28g kanthal, 8 wraps around a 2mm post with the coil master. So I got my new cyclone today, busted open a new thing of wire and and built 4 coils before getting pretty frustrated. All 4 of them came to .8Ω and that build usually comes out to be about 1.15Ω. So do you think I'm crazy or is this 28g kanthal really 26g?

I second Thomas. I just built one with 26g and I put the numbers into an online calculator. I would say your 28g is labeled incorrectly.

Try 11 wraps around 2.0mm for the coilmaster to get to a 1.2 ohm single coil. That should put you close. Not sure what the cyclone looks like, but I assumed it would still fit.

Yep - I get about .8ohms with the coil you describe with 26g kanthal wire.

It might be 26g or it might be nichrome 80, not kanthal. If you run the calc, 8 wraps of 2mm 28g nichrome would get you about .8ohms.

Compare the wire to any old 28g you have around to check if it's a gauge hiccup (you'll notice the difference).
