We all know of the junk science studies where they misused devices and overheated them to get them to give off some bad stuff.
wouldnt dry burning coils also create these same conditions by overheating the coil and burning off the remaining gunk and juice.
i always dry burn outside and avoid the burn off.
thoughts?

Well, when I spill something on my electric stove top burners, I guess you could say I dry burn them. Then there's the grate on the grill that gets "gunked" up. Burn that mess off as well. :)

It's how the wifes "self-cleaning" oven works. You lock the door it runs for several hours at 700+ degrees. She brushes out the ashes, oven is clean as new. Even how I clean the grill on the BBQ, get Grill HOT and brush it off.
