Come on, go ahead, you can admit it...

Hey all y'all old-timers, remember them cigalikes you started with?

Yeah, the batteries lasted 30 minutes.
Yeah, the cartridges held about 20 drops.
Yeah, they were fiddly, nearly-useless, and full of dry hits.

But come on, every now and then you kinda miss them right?
Remember the little LED on the end?
That was cool, right?

Yeah, I'm feeling a little nostalgic.
Wait, is it just me?

Hmm? There's much better stuff in the same range... Cigalikes sucked compared to lets say the Tidus..

There's times I miss them as well! Being able to have an auto hanging off your lip and be able to have your hands free to work on something.
Then I remember the 30min runtime, one night a week cleaning cartos, another night a week refilling cartos, having to carry six batteries and ten cartos to make it through the day. Then don't drop...... well, that battery is toast now!

Nope, it isn't just you :D I still have some of my original 180mAh auto batteries. I thought I was in hog heaven back then when I scored some 280's :lol::lol:
Is these the type the fda wants us to go back to ?

We got those too. Then I went back to 2PAD and the wife got egos then cartos then she eventually went back to smoking too.

We quit the auto fire ones when we saw the wind through the window turn one on that was laying on a desk.

The second day I used one I was driving my car and looked down at my cup holder and realized that the AC had turned mine on. I don't know how long it had been running, but it was long enough to almost kill the battery and totally destroy the cartridge in it.

Not only that, but I then had to pull over, break out a spare battery and cart, and then ration myself for the remainder of the day. At that moment I realized what a waste of money cigalikes were.

My next ecig purchase was a pair of Innokin SVDs and iClear 30 tanks.

I don't think even these were on the market in 2007

I actually quit smoking with these. One must really be motivated to quit while using them though. I used them for several months before going to manual ego type batteries. I was put off by the button but of course once I got one I saw that it wasn't a big deal. :D

I still have, and use, my first old JoyeTech Double 510 kit (2 380mAh batts, 2 shorty attys, and 5 refillable cartridges). It helped me 100% get off smokes after 42 years of 1+ PAD! It's still great for taking some place where stealth vaping is required short term. Surprisingly, those original batts even still take and hold a charge!

I've also got 2 more identical kits, still brand new in their boxes & cellophane wrap. Have also gotten a bunch more new XL 510 batts, the little 510 short attys, and boxes of the cartridges...since many women I help to start vaping and getting off smokes, still like that form factor the best. Have many eGo 650mAh and 1100mAh batts, too, as well as a huge variety of clearos that they like for their next step. They've all had better success so far, moving up that way and gradually getting to mods and a variety of tanks.

The guys I've helped so far have all started with the eGo 1100mAh batts and clearos, and then pretty quickly go up to mods and tanks, and RBAs.

Without exception though...every one of them, female or male, said they'd tried the cigalike convenience store kits before. At that time, they'd thought..."If that's all there is to vaping, it's not going to get me off smokes!" That's part of what makes me so sad about the FDA garbage. For millions of people who haven't tried vaping yet, those highly overpriced, convenience store, cigalike kits will possibly be the only thing available to them in the not too distant future!

True dat

I still have my 808 auto cigalikes in storage (I never used blue foam). A few times recently when I've gone to an event or venue where personal vaporizers were prohibited, I'll take a few because the cigalikes are small and discreet and they still satisfy me (for the short duration that they hold a charge).

My first ecig was a disposable NJoy cigalike. This prompted me to purchase a Volt ciga-like starter kit. They got me off of the smokes, but within a month I had purchased two mechanical mods (and cartotanks) and shortly thereafter my first Provari regulated mod.

I don't miss those ciga-likes one bit. Looking back, they were extremely frustrating and unsatisfactory. I feel sorry for future smokers who might be interested in quitting by taking up vaping, but the only thing that might be available is a Blu or Vuse ciga-like.
