I started with the most recommended kit of the day- joyetech 510. I got the No Box version from Cignot. What a deal that was.
I totally remember the Cignot No Box deal.
They are good folk, and deserve any and all success they've had.

Within 10 days, I was off the smokes, for good. I made it work. I had to.
Yup, exactly. If you wanted it to work you had to MAKE it work.

Along came the straw mod, and I was pretty thrilled with that. At some point, I just started straight dripping on the atty, and that is my vape of choice to this day (upgraded batteries along the way).
Yeah, but the straw mod...
That was one that never did work for me...

Like you, I finally solved all my problems by ditching the carts and filler altogether.
I too went to straight dripping and that is where I still live today.

It just works.
:)

The eGo for me also. I stayed with them for a long time. I am a tootle puffer so powerful mods didn't work for me. I used sqounkers too.
I bought a couple eGo-T batteries at my local shop recently. Is that what you guys are talking about? I suspect you're talking about something a bit more powerful and sophisticated.

Anyway, I like these little devices. I put an eLeaf GS Air 2 tank on and stick it in my pocket while doing yard work etc. Mainly, though, I use VTC Minis, Provari 2.5s and Picos. I started vaping less than six months ago, and my first system was an iStick basic. I have several of those, also.

lol, no, those eGo batteries are what I used forever ( I still have some and use them). I do have several mods but, like I said, I am a tootle puffer and the heavy hitters make me choke. I am a light-weight when it comes to big inhales. Go ahead and call me a wuss because it is true. lol

We've been talking about the early ciga-likes (like today's Blu, Vuse offerings from Big Tobacco) which were the only things available before 2010. These can still be seen for sale in gas stations and convenience stores.

Yes, the Ego-T batteries are what people are talking about when they just say their next step was an Ego. I've still got a bunch of them in 400mAh (my very favorite battery for stealth vaping), 650mAh, 900mAh, and the 1100mAh. I can't seem to "kill" any of them, except for stripping the 510 threads needed for charging them. Got that solved though, with the adapter I found and use on the stripped ones. It's an eGo to Ego/510, and Kidney Punch and Ecigarette Impressions used to be the only places that had them. They're about $2.95-$4.00 a piece.

The eGos were my next step after my JoyeTech 510 kit. Used the same little Vision Nano Clearos on them...that I'd gone to for the JoyeTech 510 kit. Then discovered the Innokin iClear 16D clearos, too. I still use them daily, along with PT, Aerotank, and other tanks. Have also gone to iStick, Eleaf, Sigelei, Provari, and Kanger mods. But...sometimes I just need to vape with some old school stuff, too.

By the way, Mike...if you like those eGo batteries...you can get them cheap at LaserLiquids. Good company, great prices, and customer service. I buy them there to have on hand for "newbies" I'm helping to switch to vaping.

Other than dying when dropped, I really liked my V4L 808 kits. The run time and dropping is what made me want to upgrade.
On vacation here in Temple TX I hit a couple of local vape shops to find some juice to get me by.
First shop had a couple, like four, tiny box mods (isticks) and cases of Ego's and CE4's! That was a blast from the past, also the reason I had to go to another shop. I needed some wire and I don't think this poor gal even knew you could build your own coils!

I too get a little nostalgic sometimes DC2. I still remember very well the first e-cig kit I bought. And yep the light on the end was neat. It was blue.

That first little cigalike was 510 threaded but the cartridges weren't sold as refillable. Thanks to this forum I soon learned I could rip the end out of the cart and put some drops of liquid in. My first mod. :)

What I most remember though, and probably always will, is taking the very first drag off of it and thinking EUREKA here is something that will hopefully keep me away from cigarettes. And it did.

This has been quite a journey and I have loved every minute of it.

Well said... We had growing pains that the new vapers will never experience. It is also what let's me know that the older vapers will have stronger survival instincts with all of what is currently happening...

But, I have to add - ease of use is what has helped this industry grow so much...

For me, the Epic Milestones was the release of the eGo and when Variable Voltage devices hit the market.

I've said it Many Times before. And I'll say it again. The Blu was the Coolest, Sexiest, e-Cigarettes I ever owned. And the DSE-109 (forerunner of the RN4081) is what allowed me to Quit Smoking. So it has a Special Place in my memory.

But when the eGo came out, it Very Quickly supplanted everything I owned.

And Variable Voltage was, to use an Overused phrase, a Real Game Changer.

I started when the eGo Twist was the game changer. The Vivi Nova and Twist was the combo that got me finally to give up the cigarettes.

I still have a couple in storage. :)

So, if you had been fighting with blue foam you would not have made it then...

I've asked myself that a few times. I may have tried to get it to work. I do take the time to figure out the little quirks of all the things I get.

I did have those cartridges that came with the eGo 650 kit. I also purchased a couple of twists when I bought the kit. I did use the cartridges for about a month before finally going for the Genuine Vivi Nova. It was the Nova that pushed me over the edge to a non smoker. Before that, I had cut down to 2-3 cigs a day.

Nothing ever really works 100% right off the bat. The only thing that ever did was smoking. Unless you lit the wrong end

;)
