U.S. National Park Service is banning e-cigarettes in areas where regular cigarettes are banned.

But the decision isn't for fire safety.

National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis said the point is to “protect employees and park visitors from the health hazards and annoyances associated" with the vapors those devices produce.

Well I see this as okay for a couple of reasons

1. That guy, you know the one who can't do anything but cloud chase

2. Cigarettes were banned for health and fire safety. I think mishandled ecigs can be a fire hazard. Last thing we need is 500 acres of Forest burned due to a vaping accident.

3. I don't vape where I wouldn't smoke. Plus this one kind of leads back to number 1.

Vaping is different than smoking but I understand people may not want to smell what someone is vaping. I kinda feel if people don't like to not be able to smoke or vape at a certain place, don't go.

If enough smokers and vapers don't go to places then accommodations can be made.

Sadly the majority of smokers seem to have allowed themselves to be beaten down and brainwashed to the point of just accepting and agreeing with whatever 'the powers that be' throw out there. I truly am glad that I am close to the end of my days. I can remember when we had at least some semblance of freedom to enjoy our lives in whatever pursuit of pleasure we chose. Seems to me that we have to many do-gooders and fearmongers among us and we just say ok, we will hide in our basement as to not offend. :( This is not the USA I was born in and that is just sad.

With the huge trend in vaping towards cloud chasing we could not expect anything better. Actually I agree with Park Service.

1. The Cloud Chaser is a reason to punish a whole group of people
You want to really start banning things for all people because of the actions of few people?

2. A mishandled ecigs can be a fire hazard
So can a Mishandled Cellphone, Smartphone, propane stove, propane lamp, Radio, handheld CB radio, Flashlight, Camera, Camcorder, GPS, Electronic Toys, and even a piece of broken glass can magnify sunlight and start a fire so all Glass including Eye Glasses should be banned too right?

3. You don't vape where you don't Smoke
Forget about what the rest of the country wants or does, as long as you do it, then I guess then that should be the Law

I think some people are not thinking this out. Not all National Parks is a area where hundreds of people are going to be a stones throw from each other.

Picture this, you want to go camping alone or with others. You are in a National Park, in the middle of the woods or on a Mountain, and 50 to a 100 miles away from the nearest person.
And you can't Vape, Not even in your Tent. And You people think this makes sense? Really?

Cloud Chasing and the smell are issues for some people, but there got to be a better way then an all out Ban.

Here's a few suggestions, This isn't a fix all but it's a better start then a Country wide Ban.

A person or person's can vape in their own tent or at their own camp site.
Outside of one's camp site, a person or person's Must be 30 feet away from other people not in their group.
Vaping can be done in ones own Automobile.

How come it's always somebody else's vaping style that is ruining it for everyone?

It's the one size fits all mentality being pushed on everyone:

"You aren't special... Just a drone.
Obey and comply.
Do not think. You are unqualified to make a choice, or risk life on your own.
We know what's best.
And you shall foot the bill for your own good."

Easy to explain.
How about drinking? Is it OK to get drunk in public? Throw up, chase girls, kick somebody's ....?
Acknowledgement: I do like to get drunk occasionally. I choose place carefully, so the only girl I can chase while drunk is my wife. I do not have adverse reactions to alcohol (never throw up, no hangover). No .... kicking. Should I be irate that heavy drinking is not advised on public?

This is really nothing new, there are a lot of can't do's in national parks. I'm not saying punish every one because of that guy but it seems here lately that anytime people that vape get together, they're all that guy.

I'm saying people need to have respect for others be it smoking, vaping, drinking, car stereo, home stereo, etc.

No too many people think they can do whatever they want whenever they want. People seem to have forgotten a thing called respect.

I believe people have the right to do what they want until it gets to the point of affecting other people or their property.

This is just like people fussing their jobs won't let them vape inside, yet they never smoked inside. Like I said if you don't like the rules of places, don't go, its not required anyone go to a park.

My kids school doesn't allow tobacco or vaping, guess they're evil and wrong or........ maybe they don't want kids to see adults using tobacco or vaping, in a vein attempt of stopping the habit before it starts.

Also nonsmokers are the reason we have smoking bans and vaping bans. So I guess the park service did listen to what a lot of the country wanted.

Also I have nothing against cloud chasing, do it myself at times. The things is there are still a lot of people on the fence about vaping and groups (usually younger adults) do this in public, then the media reports someone hurt. The spin begins even if the two aren't related. The fact is the more people that aren't respectful to others in public, are going to be the ones who help usher in regulations.

People gotta quit the do what I want attitude, the world doesn't revolve around you. (If this part offends you, its your own guilt, if you're not this person bet you know someone who is, lol)

Throwing up and chasing girls are perfectly fine and legal.
Even in a national park...which I help pay for.
Id like to think the people that I pay to take care of my park actually use some common sense in ALL things they do.
It worries me considerably when I see blatant ignorance displayed by people we entity with our greatest national treasure: our parks and forestland.

Remember: these are the same people who do not even bother to keep a record of how many people go missing on their watch, in their assigned work areas.

The KEY WORD in what you are saying is "Certain" ;)
Certain Parks and Certain places in parks is fine for any rule or law, but an All Out Ban is ridiculous :(

Read this and decide if you ever again will visit a sand beach:

From MSDS for sand:

Inhalation:
a. Silicosis: Respirable crystalline silica (quartz) can cause chronic silicosis, a fibrosis (scarring) of the lungs...
b. Cancer: Crystalline silica (quartz) inhaled from occupational sources in sufficient concentrations is classified as carcinogenic to humans...
c. Autoimmune Diseases: There is evidence that exposure to respirable crystalline silica (without silicosis) or that the disease silicosis may be associated with the increased incidence of several autoimmune disorders, -- scleroderma, systematic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and diseases affecting the kidneys.
d. Tuberculosis: Silicosis increases the risk of tuberculosis.
e. Nephrotoxicity: There is evidence that exposure to respirable crystalline silica (without silicosis) or that the disease silicosis is associated with the increased incidence of kidney diseases, including end stage renal disease.

Eye Contact: Crystalline silica (quartz) may cause abrasion of the cornea.
Skin Contact: May cause abrasion to skin.
