Notice it starts out at 18.3w then switches to vv mode to 3.3v. If you put an atty on it, it will fire 10 seconds, cut off, 10 more, cut off, etc. and get very hot until you take the atty off.

This kind of behavior has been seen before in Chinese-made devices.

This is what's referred to as "Zombie-mode".

The last time that I saw this occur was in a sigelei device, but I can't remember what the model was as it's been awhile.

I would rip it apart and see if there is juice on the board causing the shorts.

Still hopin Joyetech or Eleaf gets back with some news. But I'll be takin it apart if I don't get it replaced. That ain't lookin too promising. I saw a guy put 2-3100mah batteries in one.

Yeah, I watched the video, the only thing I can possibly think of is VG on the board....kinda like water and electricity.

Maybe you can connect a GFCI to it.........:2cool:

 I'm pretty sure it's a juice leak problem but I've been hearing stories of others thinkin it's overheating because of no ventilation and sub ohm chain vapin. Mine hasn't been overheated until it went in to "Zombie Mode" with the atty on it :)

I haven't gone chain-vaping wild on a 50, but vaping fairly heavily, mine have never felt warm to the touch, not ever more than 25 watts though.

Been awhile since I've been in here....had to go back and check.
i posted a thread on an impulse freakshow purchase on the 12th and on 3/13 my 50 watt went crazy on me too.
Just started firing on its own, wouldn't shut off... Did it multiple times in a row... With a LEAKY Freakshow ( I hate that thing)

I kept my eye on it and locked the vv/vw....had never done that before....and stopped using that leaking POS of a rba and it has not acted weird since.

It has been performing flawlessly since the 13th.
Anyway just sticking my head in here, thats what happened to mine, but so far so good since.:toast:

I guess there's been more failures out of our batch :( And I see Bike's is acting crazy now.

Now that I'm not so angry/frustrated, I've been thinking about this. These mods are small compared to other 50W mods. And they don't have venting. It does stand to reason they may not be built for subohming :?: I guess there's a reason my other two battery mods are huge.

So yes, I'm going to use mine as non subohm devices (maybe 0.9 ohm). And hope for longevity. And continue to watch for issues that are reported to see what we can determine on the failures.

I know you're as anxious as I am to find out what's wrong. I don't have a star driver to fit and have been usin a small flat screwdriver. Just don't want to risk damage to a screw head yet. I really think the most likely problem is liquid leaking past the center pin. Just got back from Walmart and it's completely dead. Charger does nothing

Everyone needs the security bit set in the link below. It has all sorts of bits in hex, torx, etc, including the standard Torx and the Security Torx with the hole in the middle.
