In other (real) news, the FDA actually did issue a release today regarding that
NRT testimony we all gave back in December and it's pretty good news:
Nicotine Replacement Therapy Labels May Change
This means the FDA is no longer requiring companies to tell people not to smoke or use other
tobacco products while using NRT and are telling people that they can disregard the time limits on using the products if they need to keep using them to quit. (With their doctor's OK, of course.) It would have been better if they had fully endorsed long-term nicotine use as a SUBSTITUTE for smoking rather than saying people should quit, but it's a big step in the right direction. Plus, if chewing nicotine for months and months (rather than 4 - 12 weeks) to quit is OK with the FDA, it's kind of hard for them to still argue using that same nicotine in e-cigarettes long-term is as bad as smoking!
