Pointless? No, I don't think so. Technology on TC where it needs to be? Not yet.

I do enjoy the warmth of the vape and it often brings more flavor for me. That being said, I'm currently running kanthal in every thing I have and not using TC. I can hear the wheels spinning in a lot of brains right now though. I'm sure there will be folks along soon to either run you out of town with pitchforks and torches, and some that will agree with you.

I've always been of the opinion (I'm very opinionated! LOL!) that TC is for people that don't know how to keep their wicks wet or their build from dry hitting!

Then it took off from there and became the next new "thang"!

I've never needed it myself. Tried it once... too much trouble!

Never ever want to experience a dry hit or burnt hit again? TC got your back.

Wanna take a 20 second drag and completely fill your lungs with vapour? TC got your back again, no overheat.

Forget to drip again? No worries TC got your.....

It's pointless only if you do not use it.

I may get crucified for the title question, but I can't help but often think temp control is pointless!

I guess I fishing to see if anyone else thinks about this, and if I'm in a minority having this thought....

Pointless? For All People? Using All types of Atomizers? Under All Situations? Seriously?

Pointless for You? Maybe?

I Don't get a big benefit from TC. Because I Didn't get Dry Hits before TC came out. And I'm not trying to Push my Wick/Coil to the Performance Edge.

But Many People Did. And Many People Do. So for them, TC could be One of the Best Things to ever come down the Pipe.

If you have been around vaping for Any Length of Time, one of the 1st Things you learn in "One Size Doesn't Fit All". TC is No Exception.

Might be Pointless to Some. A Godsends to Others. And take it or leave it to the rest.

I am a big time TC vaper. I really prefer SS, but have and can build with Ni200, and Ti#1. I also know how to build and wet kanthal and nichrome coils, but for all of that I am sometimes an absent minded vaper... watching something on the computer, phone, or television, taking the occasional pull, and u do not like dry hits so TC makes sense.

This right here!
I've never had big issues with dry hits either. But I am limited by the temperature as to how long a hit I can take. When I first tried DL vaping, I was taking tentative hits because the vapor would just get hotter and hotter. I tried TC with a VTC Mini/Cubis that my wife had, and a Pico/Milo III. I wasn't all that impressed, mostly I think, because those tanks aren't that great. It wasn't until I got a DNA and a RTA that I got it. I can just keep drawing in vapor as long as I wish, without any uncomfortable heat build-up. I can still enjoy vaping with a VW set-up and I do about half the time, but being able to vape at a constant temperature does have its advantage.

I agree that TC isn't "necessary" to get an enjoyable vape. But at the same time I really wasn't comfortable doing DL hits as you don't have the safety of NOT breathing in a dry hit that you can find with MTL. With TC I find that if the vape starts getting dry quickly I can assess the build and tweak it (change wicking, lower the watts I'm using) without the worry of pulling a massive dry hit into my lungs before I even realize it. If my mod is registering 'temp control' then something is WRONG with my build or wattage I'm using. Simple as that, its just a tool to me.

A lot of people find it very useful, as they can "dial in" a max and not worry about dry hits, etc.
Me, well, first off, it solves a problem I don't have - and second, I just kind of don't like the whole approach of something "overriding" whatever my vape is set for. Cuz in effect that's what it does - take a reading to estimate the temp of your coil, and dial back the power - regardless of what your set at.

I don't like that. If I'm gonna scorch, somethings wrong and I want to FIX it, not have the power dialed back by the mod...

But I'm weird. Don't really like Anti-Lock brakes either. I mean, what if I WANT to skid? huh?

Oh, your post made sense...

Like I said though - for me, it's just not a problem I have - I almost exclusively squonk, and run setups where I squonk every couple puffs - I'd have to be sleep-vaping to get a dry hit.

Though I do practically sleep vape - I've been woken up by a mod dropping out of my hand onto my foot before, lol.

I thought that was the point of what I said. I'd rather read "SCORCH" off the mod than feel it in my lungs. My :2c:

So those of you who hate TC, do you object to having an oven that maintains a constant temperature or a thermostat on your heater, as well?

I can see your point. Squonk mods probably need TC least of all but I can still see the newbie not quite knowing when to squonk and using it as a tool to get the hang of things as well. As long as its an option and VW mod or bypass is still available I don't really see it making much of a difference though. Running a tank for me though it has made a huge difference in the quality of what I can use now. Less guess work and more hard science to what needs changing. I gotta say that being able to set the initial watts the mod fires at is important. My KBOX hit everything with 120 watts no matter what. Just couldn't use it for anything I vaped. Seemed like a flawed design to me.

I don't hate it. I just don't use it.
And I prefer, after using both for years, mech over regulated.
And I like to control the temp of my grill by stoking a wood fire, when I have time for that crap.
Not all new developments provide a benefit to all users - some are conveniences, and accompanied by some compromise.
Stay tuned for the next installment of "Personal Preference".

Ive been tc'ing for over a year now, i embraced it early on...would never go back to vv/vw for any money on earth

Who would hate getting the same vape every time they hit a mod button? Not this guy

I get similar or even more vapor at less watts and lower temps than i ever did with inconsistent vv/vw with its temp cascading (the longer you hold the button down on a non-tc device the hotter the build gets)

Forget about the "no dry hit" stuff, thats just an aside, its not the main aim, but its what people who dont like it or know how to properly set up a tc mod flog to death
