I just received my first DNA250 today. It's the lost vape Triade 250. I just walked in a few minutes ago and haven't even had a chance to put batteries in yet (they are still charging).

My first impression was this is really nice. For a triple 18650 mod it's pretty light and feel really good in hand. I went with the Purple Ostrich Leather option. I'm glad I did, it both looks great and feels great (my personal opinion). I also have the Red Ostrich Battery Cover on the way, should be here by the end of the week..

This is just an introduction since I haven't even used it yet. I wanted to make the thread to basically have a place to talk about the new chip. These are just some really quick pictures I took. I'll get better ones up in due time.

The box before I took off the plastic wrap - it comes factory sealed.

For this picture I used a flash. I think the Ostrich is darker to my eye. I'll get more/better pictures up.

Congrats! Looks nice. Like that leather. The presentation is the same as the 200. My one suggestion, don't worry about conditioning the leather off the bat. It's really not necessary. And if/when you do, get a proper leather conditioner. At one point a reviewer was recommending olive oil, which ended up just messing up the leather on some folks who tried it.

Where did you order the extra backs from? I'd like to pick up one or two for my 200.

Thank you my friend, I think it looks nice as well. The Ostrich doesn't feel like it needs conditioning. I'm hoping it's more durable than a soft leather (time will tell).

I bought the extra back from Ebay yesterday, The seller had 8 different choices going for the very reasonable (imo) price of $15.99 each shipped. They sold out quick unfortunately. I can PM you the link if you would like so you can bookmark the seller in case he restocks. I think he will, but that's just a guess. I only bought one and was disappointed I didn't get 1 or 2 more. They just sold out too quick while I was thinking about it. The link was posted in my other thread in a different forum (once stuff is posted in that thread, it never lasts long )

Cheers,
Steve

That would be great if you could PM in the hope they restock. Great price with shipping. I'd probably get more than one as well. It's a great way to freshen things up.

That Elephant really looks nice. I shouldn't have been so indecisive yesterday and grabbed a few more covers while they were in stock (get while the getting is good ). :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks!I can't wait for the new covers to come in! Just a reminder to anybody getting the new Dna250, you should apply the New Service pack 1_2_SP4.sw-service . I know you already have it Steve:toast:

Good advice on the SP4 update. I forgot to mention that. :toast:

While I'm at it I might as well mention that the Triade DNA250 doesn't have the mechanical reverse polarity protection rings. The DNA250 has on-board reverse polarity protection as well as built-in 2 amp charging . Both of those are definite pluses!

Man I am trying to pull back my spending but I have a couple more 24/25mm atty's that need a home in my rotation and getting the ostrich backing looks great. I probably will resist picking up another Triade for now, but I see one in my future (and probably a 133 Therium, but that one is less important, or maybe not since I don't use bigger builds, aaaaah decisions).

Just a heads up, I've seen the Therion 167 (DNA250 chip) listed a couple places as coming soon. Might as well muddy up the waters a little bit more.

PS Thanks for the compliment on the Triade. It's my first Triade and first DNA250. I like it quite a bit. The Ostrich looks great (to me), and feels very good in hand. I think they did a great job on it. :toast:

While I am not a 100% sure it will see the light of day assuming it was on the horizon when I decided to get any of the mods, it would muddy the water in deciding between a 250 and 166. Obviously it tosses the 133 out the window.

Yeah, I'm holding off until the 166 is available for the Therion. I already have 2 DNA 200s, Triade and Duo, so getting a 250 Triade doesn't really fit for me. The 166 Therion does. Granted, I would probably have gone with the 133 if it weren't for the news about the 166.

Yeah a 133 vs a 250 would give me little pause and I would probably go 250 even if my vaping style doesn't really call for 200 or 250. But a 166w Therion even at just 33w more would close the gap enough on my Triades and Lipo DNA200's that I would have to debate back and forth on it. Honestly I would probably go Therion at that point.

Wings......regarding the 2 amp charging rate on the 250, has it been steady charging at close to 2 amps or are you having trouble with it periodically resetting the charge current while charging. as in, climbing up to the 1.95 (or round abouts) then falling back to zero, over and over again? i want to make sure the new update fixed that problem on the dna 250's.

Does anyone know when they will be releasing the 160 version with 2 batteries?

Also with the RX200, there were some charging and discharging issues with not all batteries being charged/discharged at the same rate etc. Any such problem here?

1. Well if you are talking about a RX2/3 like Triade. Never. If you are talking about LV releasing a new 2 cell DNA250 device, they just released a 133w device called the Therion 133. Which is a variation of their original Therion (a parallel Dual battery DNA75 device). There are rumors of the and some evidence that they are going to update that (which they only just started shipping at the end of last month). My guess would be December at the earliest but early 2017 would be the better guess.
2. A DNA200/250 device won't and can't have the problems the RX has. It made originally to use with multi cell Lipos that absolutely have to discharged and charged evenly. The most you will see any cell deviate is .01v and probably only during charging.

Since it's my at home mod I haven't had to charge it yet. I will when I get home from work today and keep an eye on it to see whether it charges at a steady 1.9x amps. I'll post my results, hopefully later tonight.

Cheers,
Steve
