Yes, the app can be configured to meassure by weight, but that's not really what sets it apart imho(alltough it's a dealbreaker for me!)... e-liquid-recipes online calc does it, Scubabatdan's xml calc does it and ejuicemeup as well, and maybe others I don't know about... What imho makes it different, is it's pre-defined ingridients list/inventory, and one ejuice-file, so you don't have to enter all the flavors used each time, but just use the dropdown-boxes which lists every single flavor in your arsenal, and e.g. your different strength nicbases...
I concur... This one is all I use. It's very much the cutting edge. Including price per flavor and per mix total

What imho makes it different, is it's pre-defined ingridients list/inventory, and one ejuice-file, so you don't have to enter all the flavors used each time, but just use the dropdown-boxes which lists every single flavor in your arsenal, and e.g. your different strength nicbases etc, and you can pre-define the individual ingredients specific gravitys and pg/vg ratio's, so as the author puts it: "You can spend all your time on the recipe instead of the individual ingredients", or something of the sort :)...

I only use unflavored myself, so don't really need it, but I mix to others in the family which does preffer flavored mixes...

I know installing wine isn't a problem, but I just preffer to use native linux apps, and when looking a little more deeply, then there always seems to be a linux alternative, or atleast several apps which together provide the same functionality...

I don't really know about this one though :) However, I was more interessted in this "theoretically" and impressed about it, more so than it's something that I actually need, or "can't live without". As a windows user, using this app as calc of choise would imho be a "no-brainer"! :)

Well said mate. Is there some way to import an ingredients list into the program? I know there are a few web pages connected that list specific gravity (i.e. Flavor Art and Capella) , but it would be nice not to have to enter them all by hand.

Like you I prefer to run native linux apps , but in this case I doubt it has been ported over to Linux :) Unfortunately I can't seem to even get it to run in Wine.

I also tend to make small batches, 15ml at a time, and using syringes is just not very accurate if you are using several ingredients. Do you know with Scubabatdan's xls (v14) if you can change a specific gravity? The E-liquid recipes online calculator seems to set every flavor at 1ml/1gram. Not that it probably matters.

Regards :)

No, sorry, you have to do it manually... However, many(including myself) just assign a specific value to all flavors, since the error rate is so slight that it will not make any difference. I take the approach of assigning simply '1' g/ml for all flavors, after reading from a fellow diy maker which had read hundreds of msds's of flavors and found everyone within 0.93 and 1.07, and therefore also just used '1' for them all. Also, another approach is to simply use the specific gravity of pg(1.04 g/ml), since most flavors are pg based and so will be close to that.

This calc(HotRod19579) also has a checkbox for just using the gravity of pg/vg for the flavor defined in the new ingredient editor.

The xml calc dosen't support individual gravities for different flavors, and just has a section to assign single gravities to all flavors, pg, vg, water and nic... If you check that calc out, then get Puffaway's "linux/libreoffice-friendly" ammended v14 from one of the last posts of the stickied thread...

There are many programs/excel sheets around (and while I use android a a different program/app for that) one of the best things that sold me on JuiceCalc (and yes I tossed a small donation out because I thought the designer deserved it for a program that I'm enjoying to use (although I use to have a patch over one eye and a parrot clinging to my shoulder as I walked around on my peg leg))... is the ability to keep track of my ingredient inventory, a simple click for the program to remove used amounts when I create a recipe and it (the program) allowing me to maintain a shopping list. I keep looking for things that could be done to enhance it, minor items that really won't make it better, but could be nice, like a button next to the "last made on" date that said "Today" and would place today's date in the box for you or possibly a way to track vendors and the pricing of items they have for price comparisons. Of course I would love to see a way for the program recipes and ingredients to be ported to android or one of the current android apps around (I use eLiquid Recipe Manager Pro hint hint) but as it is, I have no problem using this program on my desktop for general use and manually coping the ingredients for a recipe to the android app so I can take it to my mixing area.

I have a change that will be included in the next version. For the recipe "last made date" and the ingredient "purchase date" you can enter "T" for today, "Y" for yesterday, "LW" for last week and "LM" for last month followed by a - or + and a number for number of days to add or subtract. For example you could enter "T-3" to indicate 3 days ago.

Version 6.0.0.6 is available for download. Changes include:

1. When ingredients in a recipe were changed using the ingredient dropdown list, the order that the ingredients were displayed would also change. Fixed so that the ingredients would remain in the same order.

2. When creating a flavor base ingredient the PG/VG levels in the new ingredient were being calculated wrong. Fixed.

3. Added another way to enter date values for the recipes "Last made date" and the ingredients "Purchase date". You can enter the date in the normal way or you can enter the ingredients as described in my earlier post.

Thanks for the update, Rod!

I had a thought the other day. I know people have been asking about adding in bottles into the inventory. I don't know if this is possible or not, but what about being able to add them in to the inventory. Sort of like you do for flavors and such. Make it it's own category. So you would have nicotine, pg, vg, flavor, alcohol/other, and bottles. Could just leave the weight at 0 and instead of ml in inventory just put in how many of that size of bottle. Then in the recipe you create, add it in as an ingredient but not have it calculate into the recipe percentages, just adds into the cost and then when reduced from inventory it will remove one bottle from inventory.
Like I said, I'm not sure if something like that would work or even be possible. It was just an idea.

I have a "how to" question related to being able to print multiple recipe labels in one print pass.

I know that V5.0.0.8 added the capability for the "Print Label Advanced" function window to remain open to load a new recipe. Suppose I have the print function window set to print RecipeA label in row 1, column 2, how exactly do I add RecipeB to print a label in row 2?

I've tried but have not been successful. Thanks.

I think I found another issue. I had a recipe up and went to Tools- modify existing recipe. If I change the vg/pg percentage it adjusts the target amount ml. For example I went and changed it from 50/50 to 75% vg. It adjusted the ml from 30 to 405.
I added an ingredient, adjusted that ingredient to 2% and then adjusted it to 75% vg and it changed it from 30ml to 810,000ml.

The numbers are possible but I would need to see the actual recipe and ingredients to validate.
If your ingredients are pg based and your nicotine is low mg and is pg based and your flavor percentage is high it is very possible. As you add VG to dilute the higher of percentage of pg you need to add nicotine to maintain the nicotine level. You also need to add more flavor to maintain the flavor percentages. As you add more pg based flavor and pg based nicotine you need to add more VG to meet the new VG percentage. Send me your recipe along with your ingredients and I will validate and provide more details.

You select the "Label name" which defines the format of the label to print, select the "Recipe name" that you want to print along with the row/column on the sheet that you want to print the label and then click the "Add to print list" button. Select the next "Label name", the next "Recipe name" along with row/column and click "Add to print list". Click the "Print" button and it should print the labels in their proper row/column positions using the format that you selected for each label.

One thing I should have asked in my post above; when you modified your 30ml recipe to 75% VG, how much PG did it say to add to the modified recipe when it jumped to 405ml? It should have said to add 0 additional PG. It would take 405ml to dilute the PG that is already in the recipe to 25% while maintaining the nicotine level and flavor percentage levels.

I'd have never figured that out on my own! Works most excellently.

Thanks for the guidance, capability and the calculator.

Version 6.0.0.7 is available for download.
One small change included in this version. You will notice a checkbox on the main recipe window labeled "Available inventory". When checked, the recipes in the dropdown list will be filtered and will only list the recipes that you have enough inventory to make.
Note that while I was testing this change it wasn't showing any recipes when I checked the box. I quickly discovered that I had never setup my inventory amounts for the PG and VG ingredients.

I was curious if there was a way to update the calculator within the program. I have looked but haven't been able to find it, Or do we have to find a link within the posts here to update it?
There is a link in the "Help->Check for updates"

Found a bit of a bug. Starting with 6006, if I change my nic source, it will show 0ml and warning will be "not enough nicotine" ect. Using the xml file I created a while ago with all my inventory in it. Tried 6007, same thing. Reverted back to 6005, and it behaves properly again.
Yes, you found a bug and have my apologies.

Version 6.0.0.8 is available for download and it fixes the bug you found above.
