Did you plug in ml then press connect? I haven't seen the sw but I know that is how the other worked then pick the file and install

Yes, I pressed connect and it said device not found. One thing I wondered about is when I install the driver on the computer it said I need to provide administrator permissions to copy this folder. I have adim permissions so I clicked to continue and it appears it installed but I don't find any new folders in system32.

Hey folks, having some issues here using ni200 coils with the SX Mini ML. Hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. Problem is that I get almost zero vapor and the mini is flashing the dry coil warning.

I'm using a uwell crown with a factory ni200 coil. It is primed and plenty wet so I don't think that's an issue. I switched the mini to joules mode, set joules to 40, set temp to 410F, and then set resistance. It seems to have read the resistance correctly at 0.15 ohms. When I press the fire button the temp reading shoots up to 500F+ very quickly. It jumps around so much it's hard to tell what it's actually reading. But it's certainly not a slow climb.

This is my first foray into temp control anything. I've been a happy kanthal guy for a long time, but finally got curious enough to give this thing a try. I may try putting an RBA on here with a ni200 coil to see if this works any better, but at the end of the day I'm trying to make the tank I use regularly work. Any suggestions are appreciated.

NOTE: I tried switching to power mode and using it like a normal coil, and that worked fine. It put out a decent amount of vapor as expected. So the problem I'm having seems to be that the temp control thinks it's a lot hotter than it really is and is cutting the power too early.

Installed the Sxi-Q software without issue on a Win-10 machine. Settled in to read the Help section to get info about using the software. Nope, not there so I searched Yihi's ML web page and no help there nor is there an updated users manual. No tutorial either. Anybody have any links to an updated manual, tutorial, and/or working knowledge on how the software works and what all the functions are (both within the software and independent of the software). Really can't justify a 200 dollar purchase till more is known. Maybe soon, I hope.

Any help, info, or links to tutorials or an updated user manual would be appreciated.

Prebuilt temp control coils are a crap shoot, nobody, and I mean nobody, is making reliable ones right now, since most are retrofits of standard coils, and as such the legs are too long and connections are too spotty for TC. Sadly, the sheer amount of crappy TC experiences people have had with prebuilt Ni200 coils have done a lot of damage to the temp control concept.

Anyway, until they come out with purpose-built temp control clearomizers, you really need a good rebuildable atomizer to make TC shine. And use Ti01 or SS for best results.

Finally, it's not a good idea to run Ni200 in Power mode, potential health risks of overheated Ni200 being the main reason to avoid doing it.

Prebuilt temp control nickel coils are all that I use (and prebuilt kanthal coils in non-temp mode). The ones I use are solid as a rock and I've been using them for over 6 months. True that some brands of atty tanks/prebuilt coils are problematic but not all. Same with rebuildable attys/coils no matter which wire you use.

Thanks for the feedback Croak. I think I just figured out the issue I was having. When I set the compensate temp to 60F it started working. It is now slowly ramping up the temp reading as I would expect and putting out a good amount of vapor once it gets up to temp. When it hits the limit it seems to stick there. Seems to work as advertised.

The ramp up time is quite slow though - this is the opposite of how I normally use my mini. I tend to use powerful mode to heat the coils up quickly, so I'm used to it heating up real fast and then backing down a bit on longer drags. With this setup for the first 2 seconds there's not much going on and then the heat and vapor come on strong.

What you're saying about rolling your own TC coils makes sense. If I'm going to keep messing around in this space I may give this a whirl. Thanks again for your comments. Much appreciated.

EDIT: Ok I am a dolt. Ramping up the joules will get it up to temp faster.
Amazing concept.

Great news is this is actually working pretty well now that I pulled my head out of my .....

What tank/coils are you using with the mini?

Well, I spent a few hours trying update my software and I now know what the problem is but don't know how to fix it. When I try to install the driver on my computer it says windows/system32 needs admin permission to copy the folder. I tried right clicking on the SX-Q program then click run as a admin then click on install driver nothing happens. I tried using SX-Q from a admin account and nothing happens when I click on install driver. At this point I'm baffled as to what could be wrong.

I followed all the instructions in the thread below but it didn't help.
SX mini software update out today. • /r/electronic_cigarette

I'm not sure there are any updates for the ML yet... I think it's just the SXi-Q that was released so far... glad you figured it out scratch... it took me a little while to figure out my ML in tc mode as well... it's all about setting the Joules correctly and the temp ramp up. I'm almost exclusively rocking the Smok tsv4 now... I just got some SS TC claptons and the dual normal claptons for it and dang this is sweet! I really like the normal quad coils too... I love the .15 resistance in them... true sub ohm in a prebuilt coil! I'll be experimenting with the software over the weekend this weekend. I'm assuming we can draw out our own ramp up graph with the software and then upload the profile into the Q settings available in addition to ECO, soft, standard, powerful and powerful +... there are 5 SXi-Q settings which can each independently be used with each of the configure modes you can store in general as well. This is the most configurable mod I've ever seen before... I said this before but I gotta reinforce this... The yihi SX mini ML has some of the nicest build quality and fit an finish I've ever seen period. Provape doesn't even have their dang Radius shipping yet and this thing has totally shown them up as far as I'm concerned. I always liked provape but lost faith after sub ohm came along...

I had to manually install the driver on Windows 10 Pro x64
How?
Using your file explorer, open the directory the SXi-Q software is installed in. For Win 10 x64 it is:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\YiHiEcigar\SXi-Q
Now choose the SXI-package directory then finally the x64 directory
Using a text editor (like notepad) open the COPY_MSVCR110D.BAT (Don't run the bat file, edit it)
It has two lines in it, we are only interested in the second.
Open another copy of your file explorer (press the Shift key and click the file explorer icon in the taskbar)
In the second file explorer window, go to
Code:
C:\Windows\System32
You may have to give permission for this.
Back in the x64 directory, right-click the msvcr110d.dll file, choose Copy.
Click in the System32 window, right-click and choose paste. Close this window.
Click in the x64 window. In the menu bar choose File, hover over Open command prompt and you will get the option to open as administrator.
Now we have a command prompt window open in the x64 directory and we have admin permissions.
Time for the second line of the bat file copy the entire line and paste it into the command window, then press enter.
Code:
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msvcr110d.dll /s
Now back to the file explorer window one last time.
Right-click SXi_USB_Installer.exe and choose Run as administrator.

The driver will actually be installed.
Now the SXi-Q software will run fine and the first thing it asks for is to upgrade the firmware. That went well.
This was the only thing I had to do manually.

So there is an update for the firmware on the ML already??? Or you just got the driver setup and working???
I'm going to setup the software this weekend to experiment with the SXi-Q settings... If there really was a firmware update for the ML already can you tell us what changed or got updated?
