Hi all, was just wondering if anyone has a solution to my problem, ive just got an alien 220w and cant update the firmware its running ver b1.0.1 at the moment, but no matter what i try it will not connect to the isp programming software (ver 1.4) that smok provides in there download section.

I'm running win 10 and have followed the instructions to the letter, windows installs device fine but when i click connect it says "no such usb device" have tried reinstalling drivers, different leads, different pc but still the same.

As a last resort i went on the site that makes the isp software and downloaded the latest version (2.0) and when i run this the device connects straight away! But the interface is different so the guide smok provides doesnt work and am worried about bricking the vape mod, have emailed smoktech but had no reply.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

You can also download the upgrade version here. Version is 1.2.2
Alien and Osub Plus Firmware Upgrade Guide--SMOK® Being with you for all great vaping time!

You may have the wrong one uploaded. This is the one I used and it works for me. Some users suggest before upgrading to highlight the erase button on the bottom part of the uploaded screen first to erase all programming on the mod and then when that is finished to highlight the aprom and the config buttons and again hit the submit button. I don't know that it makes a difference but that is what I did.
Just make sure you have the downloaded version of the aprom file(hex) by finding it in your download folder. And that you click on it so that it appears in the upgrade screen. The path is shown also in the box to the right of it.

Teah tried both without batteries holding button and going to update in menu holding button, both ways same result when hit connect "no such usb device" the pc makes the beeb to indicate device is detected, i dont think its a problem with windows, because version 2.0 of the isp programming software connects to the mod, its like the 1.4 that smok provide is out of date for device, my device says ver b1.0.1 nobody mentions a version b on any forums so maybe i got newer model with different hardware is what im starting to think.

I cant delete anything as the vape will not connect in first place and yes that is one i downloaded multiple times.

Sorry...had to ask. Is it one of the newer ones just released? The colors are nice but since I put protection on them anyway its never really seen. Rather have the mod protected personally. Well, lots of members are having trouble with the tc in the newest version of the upgrade anyway, so maybe you are better off waiting. Most would like to return to the original version their mods came with, so if you are using tc then its a blessing in disguise.

I have several myself and use wattage mode. I did upgrade a couple of them to the newer version but have not had any issues with either version. And none of my fire buttons have ever wobbled. For me I was looking for longer run times between charges and this fits the bill. Love these mods.
