Haha i know i wouldn't spam them anyway, am too busy procrastinating! I emailed them at 1 pm yesterday (im in uk) I thought i may have heard something by now, tbh i know they'll probably just send me a link to the update on the site, i tried to explain clearly but the language barrier may be a problem as ive found with other chinese companies before!

Did you look at the link I provided? I only looked at it because of the adaptability never thinking I would need to do an update yet but as soon as I powered it on I saw the later firmware. I am waiting on the eleaf Aster RT22 which has a factory reset button so if an update fails you can restore it to the way it came. But that is on one of them slow boats from you know where!

Yeah think i downloaded that one yesterday, is the same files as the other link on there site i think, and yeah a reset button would be good, thats the worst thing about risking flashing with the newer software, i cant back up first, if it was an adroid device id have a nice nandroid backup on my pc and would be on my 20th rom in this amount of time lol

Hello guy's,

I hav exactly the same problem. I have software version vb 1.0.2 i recieved this mod in exchange after i had a whole line of dead pixel on the screen just right after unboxing. The first mod i had was v 1.2.1 anf the display colours looked different. I get the same error trying to connect. V2.0 of the smok update tool connects but it will not let me update.. i contacted support but no reply so far.

V2.0 of the smok update tool connects but it will not let me update.. i contacted support but no reply so far.

So im not the only one at least! Let me know if smok get back to you, I haven't heard anything so far, but this may be because of the holidays, at least if there are two of us with the same problem they may take notice.

i got mine on boxing day... sorry you two, but it was v1.2.1 and updated fine... the common issue does seem to be the version VB... honestly? i would take it back to the vendor and let them deal with the headache of trying to update one with the what appears to be test software or something and them giving you one that can be confirmed as V1.2.1 so you can update it. they are selling a defective product and are more likely to be able to recoup their losses if it cannot be updated.

I went to the vapeshop where i bought it today, they tried to update with no luck, gave me a new one. I'm satisfied.. still no response from smok tho. ....test support ever. If i hear from them, i'll let you know.. chances are if they reply they will reply with a bull.... answer like please keep the firebutton press during the update or go to the vendor.. if its still within warranty i wouldnt wait for their response..

With my mod the menus were more glitchy and the screen seemed like less crisp than the mod i had at first.. thought an update would resolve it.. tough luck. Updating was impossible.. apart from having to go back to the vapeshop twice to have it exchanged. I'm very satisfied with the device. Its very portable and with the tfv8baby tank its still produces decent clouds and great flavor.

The mod i recieved in replacement also has problems, brand new vtc6 batterys die after 300 puffs on 55w and dry/burnt hits all the time. I went back to the vapeshop and got a new tank in warranty. But the problem remains. I tried the tank on my rx200s and it works fine.. mounted it back on my alien.. burnt taste after 5 pulls. The guys in the shop probably think im abusing the mods.. 3rd mod and 2nd tank in less than 2 weeks.. wtf right ?

Have you tried a different tank on the alien? Sounds like its a problem with reading the resistance wrong for the coil, is the voltage staying the same for each draw? And are the batteries definitely genuine?
I tried running my tfv8big cloud beast on the alien.. and the flavor started to go bad so i stopped ( dont want to burn my coil ) voltage and current remain stable each pull, coil resistanxe changes everytime i screw in the atty. I tried q2 t6 and t8 engines and its the same story with all of them..
