This is business.
An advertising schema to bring light to a device, company and their features. It's done in many ways on a daily basis.
Are those who won these devices getting them for free? Not at all. Some of us posters put a good bit of time into this project, to win. Which renders the argument of free , null.

Am I grateful? Not in the slightest. Am I thankful I happen to go against the ranks of pure mathematics? Yes, that is why I paid the price I did in the auction. Yes, my time was not wasted.
I paid for this device. With my time, and by giving my personal information to a number of organisations, to use as advertisement against me. It's business. I get it. It's rather simple.

Glitches, sure I get that as well. Have had my share. One of the first things I learned, is facts. Get it straight, keep it straight. It is what it is. Deal with it and roll on.

I'm also looking forward to testing this device. With it's features, it's one if not the latest advances in vaping. Should be fun.

Just to offer into the thread my personal apologies.

This problems we've had in this contest are, frankly, my fault - yes, Smok have had trouble sorting out the prizes, but I should have anticipated this and put in place a system for pre-empting this: it's not as if delays in the manufacturing supply chain are unknown.

ECF is going to be running a LOT more competitions going forward, and it's a learning experience for us. I'm putting in place methods for ensuring that prizes are delivered promptly and communications are improved. I also want to go a step further and ensure that any prizes we offer are guaranteed to be high quality and are checked for defects etc before sending out, but this might take a little longer.

In the meantime, please continue to support our competitions - I really want to reward our members with fun and engaging contests, and we've got some awesome plans I can't yet tell you about. Stay tuned :)

Also, if you're reading: many thanks to Madvapes for helping out the fulfilment here. I'm really grateful.

Thanks,

Oliver

@SmokeyJoe Thanks for the acknowledgement. However placing a specific fault is in my opinion not necessary. As with any venture, there is always a learning curve.

I'm certain everything will work out just fine, and more to come.

Thanks, SmokeyJoe! There's no need for placing blame, learning curves are what they are... We all had fun on this competition, we're having a blast with the Cloupor, and you're promising us even better!?! I can't wait. Thanks again!

I don't think theres any need to "assign blame", you and ECF have done wonderful to help keep this thing moving along, hiccups and all. I see from the other replies that many feel the same as I do-thankful for you, ECF and the opportunities you've given us! And I do not mean just the contests, I mean the interactions, help and fun that we have found together here. I know I for one will continue to support ECF, the competitions and the community as a whole. The contests and rewards are great but the thanks go to YOU and ECF

The quote doesn't really reflect the holding of any one person accountable but rather the characteristics of a good leader whether he is to blame or not.

I've been quite happy just knowing I've won this thing and trust completely that I'm going to be the proud owner of this device, one day... lol.

Dawww... GREAT quote. EXCELLENT attitude. Thanks for sharing it. And I'd like to point out that a good follower will recognize both situations, and then has a pretty good shot at leading someday, themselves.

Anticipation vs. Expectation. Very closely related, but only one of them has a deadline, relies on others, and can result in disappointment and anger.

I was using this as a way to judge how Madvapes is and I have to say it's not looking good

I'll be honest with you.. if it take more than next week for me to get this.. I will simply never do business with Mapvapes... ALL they have to do is ship out.. that's it. Everything is in hand and they have had shipping information on us all 4 days now, all they have to do is purchase shipping and wait for whoever they ship through to pick it up from them..

I was the eCommerce manager for a business ... I could have done ALL the winners in exactly one day myself, without help - one person, one day to get all the shipping information into a computer and all the shipping labels printed out and the packages out the door - you give them some for trying to do it around other paying customers... but no... not a month..

if they take a month, they will never get my paying business because I will be damned if I do business with a company who cannot handle business...manufacturing is different in my eyes because there are too many things that can go wrong.. but retail.. no.. the only thing that can go wrong there is no employees and bad management/bad management decisions. (which the same can be said for manufacturing I guess, but I do give more allowance to manufacturers, having dealt with them before.. you have to because so few are timely!)

but retailer who has both the product and the shipping information? no no no...

Please note the bolded part. We do not know if they were asked ahead of time or if it was thrown at them last minute. We do know that communication from Smok has been very limited. Could it possibly be that communication between smok with MV was in the same limited fashion?

If so, how does one prepare for something that one didn't know was coming down the line??

No sir I respectfully disagree with you. It is not your fault all my years in retail and all the promos we handled getting the product to us or out to the "winners" was the responsibility of the supplier whether they be the manufacturer or supplier. You did your part and we did ours. Sorry if anything I have said has made you think I hold you or ECF in anyway responsible. you have every right to an expectation of competence on the part of your suppliers. I'm sure in the long run it will be well worth it and all this nonsense forgotten. Thank you and all your staff for arranging the contest and more so for putting up with my complaining.
