Honestly depends on the mech. I would use magnets in my Nemesis or Launcher but not much else

I know I like using a spring better than magnets in my Origin. No real reason.. The spring just feels better to me.

I'm sure it make a difference in some mods. Considering a set of magnets is less than $5 and a spring less than $1, buy both decide for yourself.

Not having any experience with mechs but starting to get in to them I wonder what you veterans prefer?

Spring or magnetic switches?

Mainly just looking for the difference in feel, longevity and safety.

Thanks

Eric

I but the magnets in my nemesis;
but they've shattered once already;
I have a 10pack of magnets.
Eventually I'll be back to spring, because I don't want to be replacing magnets.

but- different types of magnets fit different mods; with the nemesis it's a magnet that looks like a washer; on my poldiac, and may my stingray? I believe they are disc (like a coin) shaped and those won't shatter I think

Just easier. I like that i can stack magnets and get a hard throw, or use small ones to get a soft throw. I use enough aas to not have to lock my switch when I set the mod down.

And the magnets seem to eliminate the crunchy sound when pressing the button.
Hey towelie, quick question. I'm not really good with the vaping terminology. So what do you mean when you say hard and soft throws?

Magnet or spring, it still comes down more to the design of the whole button imo

Yup. Sometimes the physical design of a switch just won't behave with it's return device (be it spring or magnet), and some gain can be made by switching to the other. I've had better luck with springs than magnets, but I do think magnetic switches are improving.

Springs only in my Nemi's.
I believe design & quality are more important than magnet or spring.
My HCigar Nemesis clone had a horrible, crunchy switch that improved with magnets, yet my smoothest switch is on a gp paps with a spring.

Some switches are good. Some are not. That goes for both springs and magnets. Magnets maaay to some extent stabilize a poor switch, making it less scratchy. But why pay extra to put lipstick on a pig...

As mentioned, you'd be hard pressed to find a switch smoother than a Paps. It's spring loaded.

On the other hand, clever use of magnets may allow for very very small switch mechanism, like that of a MMV Nanos.

Often easier to find (or make) replacement springs than magnets. No fun chasing tiny little magnets that don't go "clink" when you drop them. Means they've not hit the floor, but attached themselves to something on the way down :p
