Hey everyone, I am looking for a good quality mech mod with a lock on the firing button. I would prefer one with a magnetic button, but I believe that most spring mechs have magnet replacements. What would you guys recommend?
Id recommend doing more general research so you can ask a more specific question.
Asking "which is the best mech with a lock ring" is like asking "which car with a 5 speed tranny is best",
There are far Too many models with too many options to begin to answer that question.
Clone or legit?
Copper, brass, stainless?
Recessed button?
Telescopic, sectional or solid tubes?
Is 18500, or 18350 battery sizes important to you or is 18650 all you want to use?
Inner threading 20:1 important for hybrid attys? Or no?
See what I mean? Not being a jerk, I'm just trying to help you get the correct answer to your question.
There so many choices out there. But I'll give you my opinion based on what I've experienced.
Of all the mech mods I own, the Emit Vapor Shotgun mod has the most confident locking ring. It's reverse threaded and feels solid when locked. It also has a recessed magnetic button with a long throw, so you know you'll have to really press it to fire. When traveling with a mech, I feel very safe with this mod.
I recently purchased a Stingray X clone. The locking ring kinda sucks. It's not reverse threaded and when I engage it, sometimes I back the button out as I'm locking it. I end up twisting the locking ring, then tightening the button again to meet the ring. When engaged, I'm pretty confident that the mech will stay locked.
I've played with a copper Pegasus, but I feel that the locking ring will eventually disengage itself if I pocket it and stay on the move. If I pick one of these up, it would probably be my stay at home mod.
Those are the mechs I have experience with. Hope that helps!
My first mech was a knurled king clone. Definitely not a fan of it's stubborn reverse threaded locking ring or loose on/off button. I'm sure it's smoother on the original -propably got what I paid for. Not a big fan of tubes in general but the Steel Punk Slug and Kato Box look interesting. Something that can't rest on it's firing button.

I've never had any of those issues with either of my king clones.
I never use the lock ring as it has a recessed button.
Loose button? Tighten the screw?
Mine are flawless. I have two.
