New vaper as I mentioned with a squonk mod, kangertech dripbox 160 to be exact. What should I do when switching to a new juice, I imagine I would: wash out the plastic tank with soap and water, Put new cotton into the RDA/ wipe down the RDA with a wet cloth or something. Would I need to clean the rod that goes into the tank (what the juice travels through) somehow, or would quick wipe down suffice?

For me, as long as the juices won't clash flavor-wise, I just swap out the bottles and keep vaping. I don't mind a little carryover of flavor. For cleaning, rinsing out the rda and wiping down the feed tube is good for me, and changing the cotton. Some people rinse out the tube also.
hot water rinse is usually good enough for the bottles and the metal tube(just don't douse the whole mod), like less, if the juice is similar i might just add it... i will replace the cotton, put in new coils only when i need too(mine last months, but i build em with a different RDA).
