Study desinged to find combustible tobacco cigarettes cost less than e-cigarettes finds combustible tobacco cigarettes cost less than e-cigarettes.

Study finds combustible tobacco cigarettes cost less than e-cigarettes

Antz use manufacturer's bogus claims of numbers of puffs/equivalency between ecigs/ejuice and cigs, when it suits their dishonest agenda, and ignore it when advantageous to do so.

This article has an air of confusion and chaos that is the byproduct of their tangled web of deception.

My vaping is way, way, way less expensive than smoking was. These sneaky controllers can't make up their minds about how to best put their dishonesy to work.

I guess it all depends on the approach a person takes. It comes as no surprise that the cost of disposables is close to traditional cigarettes.

OTOH, my DIY e-liquid costs me around $0.25 a day (and that's using an expensive, premium nic!) compared to around $12 a day I was spending on smokes. The cost per day of other consumables such as wire, wick, and 18650 batteries is negligible.

So, if you follow their reasoning, e-cigs don't need to be taxed "to discourage use." That works.

Of course, no one should tell them that they should be comparing annual costs, or even cost over multiple years.

It is possible to have e-cig use be more expensive, if you purchase everything from a c-store, or possibly even from a B&M vape shop. A lot would depend on the cost of liquid. In Europe, with the TPD restrictions and maximum bottle size of 10ml, it could definitely be more expensive.

Some jurisdictions around the world, notably the United Kingdom, with a pack of cigarettes averaging the equivalent of nearly US $14, have achieved price equality between cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

Really !? $ 14 a day for vaping ? Everyone in the UK buys expensive mods and attys, and vapes 10 to 15 ml of "premium" liquid a day !?

I've spent just over 6K on mods, atties, 100 mg/ml nic, vendor juices (over 10k ml's of unflavored and vendor juices in storage) and coil building/wicking supplies over the past 36 months. That was a quick estimate I made just now. 36 months worth of cigarettes would have cost me just under 7K. That's looking backward. Looking forward I will only be buying batteries, wire, wick, vg and flavorings which will amount to very little per year. So that initial stocking up may not have saved me much looking backwards but looking forward vaping will most definitely be cheaper and I have some nice mods and atties!

I vape 15 ml or so a day but all DIY. I buy PG/VG in gallons about $22/gal for the last I bought.
I mix flavorings at 5-7% nic at 3%.
I like winning free stuff. Just won over $160 worth of stuff from Madvapes and another $50+ mod from Movkin.
Won a T18 kit and a TFV4 Mini.
I will actually not have to buy anything at all for more than a year, but will likely buy a couple of tanks on sale or clearance.
Been vaping over 1 year and spent less than 1/3 of what I was spending on cigs and set on everything for over a year and nic for 10 years.
Cigs were $34/carton when I quit.
Fairly cheap here in KY.

My consumables cost me less than 30 cents per day, vs. the $10 or so per day it would cost me to smoke cigarettes. I'm not sure what the folks who ran the study are smoking.
The cost of vaping is all over the map. What ever you want to spend. In the long run the almighty market will equalize things. I like to brag about how cheap vaping is. (My DIY is 8 cents a day.) It's an important reason to switch, especially for low income smokers with kids. The tobacco tax addicts are on a roller coaster of confusion trying to figure out how to preserve their money. I'm starting to think the bare cost of making vapable eliquid on a commercial scale is comparable to the retail price of bottled water. And it's easier to make than lemonade. Just because e liquid is cheap to make doesn't mean it's easy to tax. To preserve their money with NY City cigarette taxes a $50 liter of nic would have to be worth $60,000. Here in Michigan it's $30,000. How do you actually do that? Any realistic tax on vaping is going to recover a trivial fraction of what a smoker is paying in cigarette taxes. Then it will discourage switching and that will be hard to defend. And then it won't collect much money after all. It's a mess for them.

Very impressive. You are quite possibly the 2nd most frugal vapist on ecf.

Bought 7 mech mods 3 were about $5, the rest were under $10 each.
My most expensive purchases have been $30 for a VTC Mini on black friday sale.
And about $120 total for subtank mini's $20 each on sale.
I did buy 2 Istick basic kits for $23 each.
And 2 Kbox Mini's for $23 each.
2 Sigeli Zmax V3 for 9.99 each.
Got lots of batteries and wire and 10 years worth of cotton for under $4.
