well, if you're descending on the resistance scale (deeper subs) in search of an elusive satisfaction, then it's just possible that salts would scratch that itch.
(could be the WTA route would be worth looking at too; but I know nothing there)
Salts, at high nic levels, are definitely a different experience. I absolutely feel that they scratch the itch faster, harder, and way more smoothly.
If you're not getting what you want/"need" from freebase (and you're intensifying to find it), I think more frequent coil changes are worth it.

My experience is that, going "tootlepuff" on the salts, my coils are very small and simple, and wrapping/swapping them is quick and painless . . .
and absolutely worth it.

that said, as a general caveat, I would say that one shouldn't try high nic salts on a whim. This because the first time you try it, you will probably get a buzz like you haven't had in years (since day one, maybe). And that opens up a whole 'nuther can of worms (or might). What will happen is that the body will get used to the new paradigm real quick, and the buzz won't happen more than a few times; and/but your body will seek it (I'm speaking as if to people who had a hard time quitting cigs). It actually took me a few days to realize that I was going through a "dosing transition" and to settle into the new pattern.
Stopped seeking the buzz pretty quickly, and settled into "the new normal"; but that new normal is with higher nic salts, MTL, and more frequent coil changes.
For me, personally, good transition. But I feel it was very particular to me and my timeline.

I've leveled off on chasing the dragon by increaaing concentration of freebase. I've settled at 6mg/ml but coming from a triple battery RDA to a single battery mech, I was thinking the concentration might make it easier to balance the other factors I was used to like battery life. I think you're right that it's good to proceed with caution here.

My interest in nicotine salts was sparked when I used a juul, the vapor had a quality that I've been unable to replicate with freebase. And it does this with minimal power, but the costs are very high. After reading a bit more, the long term stability of the salts also appeals to me. But I'll definitely be reading more before I make the change myself. I'll likely try a vendors product before I go mixing salts with a 0mg juice.

she's doing pretty well

lungs will never repair COPD, but they are better. Weather means she had allergies that cause some phlegminess. OTC decongestants and some chicken broth to aid with that

I was happily puffing away at it, and my wife told me, "Wow, that smells so good!". So I handed her the little eGo style "pen" and said, "Try it!". Well, she got an instant buzz (that she considered unpleasant) from just one puff of 18mg
