"The Salted Saga": Chapter 4 . . .
Kayso, I have a hypothesis (have had, have been harboring).
[pro'ly now Aal is gonna tell me that the Greeks invented Hypothesis

]*
And I now have the tools to begin testing.
The Hypothesis:
One thing I've noticed is that there's wildly divergent anecdotals about gunking and burny coils with the Salts.
And I'd been wondering about the possible factors that would be consistent to any one vaper and/but yield such (seemingly random) black or white results in the aggregate.
Because of my Nickel thing (intolerance), there's only certain wire compositions that I'm willing to use on a regular basis. Really, just SS430 and Kanthal.
Kanthal was really the only viable wire for the resistance I wanted in the Divo. There just isn't enough room in there for the mass of wire I'd need to run SS430 (at suitable resistance).
Kanthal wire, as we all know, is designed to form a layer of Aluminum Oxide on its surface when heated.
Other wire compositions are not (to the best of my knowledge).
Do y'all see where I'm going with this?
So, the "hypothesis" is that the aluminum oxide layer that Kanthal is designed to produce somehow interacts with the nic salts (protonated nic . . . . electrical/ionic/pH thing) to form the coil-killer layer.
The Tools and the Testing:
So, the other wee-tiny atomizers I got finally arrived. Basically the same size as the Divo, but configured such that I can get a substantially larger coil in there.
So, now I've got enough room to run a 10.5 wrap of SS430 on a 3/32" I.D.
Also, hey! look at this! I've got these brick-____-house dual batt. mods with variable voltage!
So, I can further mitigate the super-low resistance of the SS430.
So, I've got this largish SS430 coil in a weensy wittow atty, sitting atop this rather large (and very square) mod, and powering it at a whopping 3.7V (netting around 13W).
And I'm vapin' it. (and liking it)
And now I'm gonna vape it until: (a) the coil goes to crap, just like all the others, or (b) magic happens and nic salts don't kill the coil quite so fast.

funny, because, well, yeah, sort of did
