From the cabin last week:

We did a lot of work around the place. I won't bore you with pics of that. But here are a couple of trail-cam pics from this spring.

Apparently these two are having some kind of disagreement?

Just beautiful! The one thing I miss about Washington is being able to go up in the mountains.

hey kids,
sorry I haven't been around much.
so . .. . long story; but I had wanted to incorporate some sort of ink drawing or watercolor painting in the lamps . . . on paper shades or I don't know.
So, I finally bit the bullet and picked up a paint brush.
so . . . here's my first painting

. . . . mounted on upcycled cabinet steel. (hand-split cedar makes up a "cradle" to stand it off the wall by ~1" )
Watercolor and inks (incl red/yellow/blue inks to mix colors with)

whatever you do when you travel to Hawaii, do not forget something to dipense your juice with. God forbid finding anything sharp either so you can trim your nose hairs either
all those people, and seemingly none of them thunk "the beach is too crowded today, i might go do something else instead"

My wife and I have been to Hawaii four or five times in the distant past, starting with our honeymoon on Maui in 1986. On other trips, we spent time on Kuai and the Big Island as well, but never more than overnight on Oahu, because it's too damn crowded there. The last time we were there was in 2007, when we actually thought about buying a vacation/retirement place.

I'm glad we didn't, and ended up in Florida instead:

It has a number of advantages, not the least of which is we can drive there and take anything we want with us, without being harassed by the Thousands Standing Around in various airports. Oh, and there are no problems find sharp things either.
