Post pictures of your wood so we can decide whether it's worthy. ;)

Careful, some have lost their jobs over that :ohmy:

Had a good Monday today. Did a little work over the weekend too. Today I got the caps all machined in their various little bores and stopped bores and sealed up with CA. (with the caps, the CA-ing is interlaced and wufterwoven with the machining as I have to have sealed and finish-built surfaces to establish final thickness before precision bore depths can done be hadden.)

So, tomorrow it's off to the shaping gizmo to start turning these rectangulars into ovoids.

What's a shaping gizmo? - you ask.
I'm a shaping gizmo. - I reply.
I'll take the mods over to me . . . to gizmerize them.

You know at some point you gotta either do a gizmerizin' video or a step by step photo collage of how a gizmo is born for us.

Quick follow-up although I am still waiting for my matching drip tip, so no pics yet. Just wanted to provide a little update. I settled on a bottom-fed Rogue for Li'l Blue (thanks Tom from Catfish); I like the way it looks and you can't over-squonk, which is good for me because my primary use of bottom fed mods is while driving, and I like to make SURE I get my coil saturated. With the Rogue, the air holes are way up high, so you can saturate all you like - the excess just gets sucked back down and there's no leaking.

With the new atty on there, I find I'm actually using my Li'l Pinch all the time - not just on the road. My hands are getting used to her - she's very comfortable now. I'm still a little clumsy when it comes to refilling the bottle, changing out the battery, or replacing a coil. Takes a little getting used to and if you are on the go, you have to be absolutely sure you have a safe place for the pin before you start taking her apart. (Don't do this in the car or you'll be crawling on the floor trying to dig stuff out from between the seats! D'Oh!) But once she's put together, she is fantastic and easy. Easy on the eyes as well - she inspires lots of compliments. More soon.

Let me weigh in here. I'm an early adopter of the Li'l Pinch - I've been using it for a little over 24 hours. (Not posting any pics as yet because I'm waiting for the matching drip tip to arrive and I feel the impact will be more intense when that happens.) :D For now let me just share my early impressions.. I'll need a couple/few weeks with it before I can give it the thorough review it deserves.

1) It's gorgeous. Obv it's as gorgeous as the wood it's made from, so if you pick your own stabilized, you're going to be wildly satisfied with the aesthetics. Pdib's craftsmanship is flawless and it's got a nice petite form factor.
2) Feels great in the hand. As a small-handed person, I'm very happy with the size and shape. I'd even like to see this get smaller and take an 18490, but that's just me and I think the challenge in going smaller might be the bottle size. But this is definitely my preferred size if it's between this and the Dibi-Sumpthin'-OliveR. Unless they are the same size and I'm just remembering funny. (I do that sometimes.)
3) Hits, as the saying goes, like a freight train. But seriously it does - the battery's connected directly to the atty. If you're looking for massive vapor production, this is for you.

More to come. I've got a few pet peeves that I am working out right now - I don't want to post about them until I determine how they can be addressed. Especially since I'm guessing some of it is user error. So as I mentioned, I'll come back with a full review and we'll try and do this mod some justice. In the meantime, I hope Pdib continues to produce these because he's got something special here. :toast:

Taking a tip from Rossum, I put a 1cm X 1cm square piece of electrical tape on the pin. It's not enough resistance to restrict easy movement but enough to keep it from dropping out while changing batteries.

On that note, for anyone who is considering a Pinch, the floating contact is certainly not a design flaw. This little mod is expertly thought out in all aspects. It allows for expansion/contraction of the wood as well as takes into consideration the differing lengths of 18650s. It really is genius.

The more I use mine, the more I appreciate it aesthetically, ergonomically and engineering wise.

That being said, if Peter tells you the wood is probably not suitable please listen to him. The spalted maple is certainly beautiful as is Peters craftsmanship but was probably not the best mod to carry in my pocket. Needless to say she's on her way back for a little spa treatment from the master. It was a small crack along one of the fault lines in the wood and didn't effect the performance at all, just figured I would have him take care of it before it became a bigger issue. All that to say, P knows what he is talking about. My next Pinch, and there will definitely be a next, will be from a much stronger wood.

I'm still getting used to how efficient the li'l pinch is. The pinch has punch! :w00t:

I'm running a BF Marquis at .3ohm milking the middle Trunker style and consistently pulling a 2/3rds to 3/4ths empty bottle and the batteries are measuring anywhere from 3.2 to 3.5V when I put them on the charger. The performance really is quite good. (Amazing! Who am I kidding.)

I've been using a tiny piece of paper in the positive pin to keep it from escaping but lately haven't really needed it. I've gotten used to holding the top cap and battery together while swapping out the juice bottle. It's really quick-n-easy. Even faster process than with the Sumpin'.

My li'l black pinch got quite a bit of attention when I went to my local Vape shop over the weekend. It's a pretty good shop and one of the guys is a squonker but leaves them at home. Everyone there was very impressed with the the aesthetics and performance. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them didn't turn up here eventually. Nobody got pics and nobody asked because I told them no pics right up front.

Thanks again Peter. It's a real pleasure driving my lucky #7 black maple burl li'l pinch. Lucky, yea I feel really lucky!

Beautiful!

Have to say as well that since I received the Li'l Pinch from Pete the rest of my mods have gathered dust.
As for the floating pin which you may think wasn't thought out too well, I have to say that couldn't be further from the truth. What Peter did is take the point of contact from the battery thus eliminating the possibility of blackening build up or pitting. Virtually all mech mods have the fire button, when pressed, contact the battery directly. Here the button contacts the floating pin and not the battery pole directly. Ingenious

my druthers:

22g = 3/32"
24g = 2mm
26g = 1.8mm
28g = 1.6mm (1/16")

this is basically smallest ID w/ sufficient wicking for cotton & my toot-style (LH). Smallest ID = fastest heat-up.

not sure what I'm going to do for the 23g that's arriving tomorrow. There isn't a drill bit in my shop that lands between 2mm (~5/64") & 3/32" (~2.4mm).
