You know at some point you gotta either do a gizmerizin' video or a step by step photo collage of how a gizmo is born for us.Had a good Monday today. Did a little work over the weekend too. Today I got the caps all machined in their various little bores and stopped bores and sealed up with CA. (with the caps, the CA-ing is interlaced and wufterwoven with the machining as I have to have sealed and finish-built surfaces to establish final thickness before precision bore depths can done be hadden.)
So, tomorrow it's off to the shaping gizmo to start turning these rectangulars into ovoids.
What's a shaping gizmo? - you ask.
I'm a shaping gizmo. - I reply.
I'll take the mods over to me . . . to gizmerize them.

Let me weigh in here. I'm an early adopter of the Li'l Pinch - I've been using it for a little over 24 hours. (Not posting any pics as yet because I'm waiting for the matching drip tip to arrive and I feel the impact will be more intense when that happens.)For now let me just share my early impressions.. I'll need a couple/few weeks with it before I can give it the thorough review it deserves.
1) It's gorgeous. Obv it's as gorgeous as the wood it's made from, so if you pick your own stabilized, you're going to be wildly satisfied with the aesthetics. Pdib's craftsmanship is flawless and it's got a nice petite form factor.
2) Feels great in the hand. As a small-handed person, I'm very happy with the size and shape. I'd even like to see this get smaller and take an 18490, but that's just me and I think the challenge in going smaller might be the bottle size. But this is definitely my preferred size if it's between this and the Dibi-Sumpthin'-OliveR. Unless they are the same size and I'm just remembering funny. (I do that sometimes.)
3) Hits, as the saying goes, like a freight train. But seriously it does - the battery's connected directly to the atty. If you're looking for massive vapor production, this is for you.
More to come. I've got a few pet peeves that I am working out right now - I don't want to post about them until I determine how they can be addressed. Especially since I'm guessing some of it is user error. So as I mentioned, I'll come back with a full review and we'll try and do this mod some justice. In the meantime, I hope Pdib continues to produce these because he's got something special here.![]()
Quick follow-up although I am still waiting for my matching drip tip, so no pics yet. Just wanted to provide a little update. I settled on a bottom-fed Rogue for Li'l Blue (thanks Tom from Catfish); I like the way it looks and you can't over-squonk, which is good for me because my primary use of bottom fed mods is while driving, and I like to make SURE I get my coil saturated. With the Rogue, the air holes are way up high, so you can saturate all you like - the excess just gets sucked back down and there's no leaking.
With the new atty on there, I find I'm actually using my Li'l Pinch all the time - not just on the road. My hands are getting used to her - she's very comfortable now. I'm still a little clumsy when it comes to refilling the bottle, changing out the battery, or replacing a coil. Takes a little getting used to and if you are on the go, you have to be absolutely sure you have a safe place for the pin before you start taking her apart. (Don't do this in the car or you'll be crawling on the floor trying to dig stuff out from between the seats! D'Oh!) But once she's put together, she is fantastic and easy. Easy on the eyes as well - she inspires lots of compliments. More soon.
Time to go SHOPPING at your favorite tool place.my druthers:
22g = 3/32"
24g = 2mm
26g = 1.8mm
28g = 1.6mm (1/16")
this is basically smallest ID w/ sufficient wicking for cotton & my toot-style (LH). Smallest ID = fastest heat-up.
not sure what I'm going to do for the 23g that's arriving tomorrow. There isn't a drill bit in my shop that lands between 2mm (~5/64") & 3/32" (~2.4mm).
