Funny...with my 306 I just squonk long enough to get a gurgle. I wil also see a bit of juice thru the drip tip (exposed bridge on the CISCO 306). I just let the juice settle back down from the atty to the well...and dont notice any kind of flooding. Now on my Smoketech 510's...I notice flooding big time.

So I think maybe the 510s are MUCH more susceptable to flooding then the 306's with exposed bridge.

I might start another thread on this, but is there any chance cisco 1.5ohm 306's are just too low a resistance for AW IMR 14500's? I got a pair, first time trying something other than a 510, and I couldn't get a good puff, just a charred throat and/or a flooded attie. I hear the 306's are smoother, so I'm thinking i might have just been waiting for that throat hit that will never happen with a 306. I got curious about 306's because I heard a few reonauts saying they are much forgiving when it comes to squonking.

Good idea :)

I'm sure others will chime in as well...
I have found that for me, it depends on the juice. Some juices handle the 1.5Ω better than others. Most of my sweet juices tend to burn with that one. I have had one 1.5Ω atty that just burned no matter what I did...and I chalk it up to it just being no good. I spent a few hours trying to make it work and it didn't, so I gave up and moved on before I started getting overly cranky about it.

So besides the sweetness of juice, the other two things to look at are technique and worst case, trying another higher Ω atty. When you primed your atty, did you flood it and let it soak in for a little bit before vaping?

They aren't too low of a resistance for 14500 batts at all. In addition the switch doesn't have an amp limit. So, you'll be fine but, they do run hot as your finding out right now.

How many drops do you use to prime it and how long do you let it sit before vaping? Generally, it's best to drop 6 drops in there and let it sit for 10 minutes. This allows the mesh and wick to be properly saturated. Although, I personally de-wick any 306 I've ever used. As most 306 enthusiasts do before they even prime it.

The reason is once, it gets "burnt" then it's basically impossible to get rid of that flavor. If you want to, then here's some quick directions of de-wicking your atty:

1. Get a small paper clip.
2. Look under the bridge and you will see the wick.
3. Carefully and lightly push a majority of it out. With most 306's and especially Cisco's. There's a little loop that's made with the wicking material. I push it from the opposite end.
4. Then take a pair of tweezers to pull it completely out of there. Might have to see if there is a few leftover strands left as well. This is important, if you don't pull those out then the flavor is still going to be there. Just letting you know.

306's actually hit the hardest out of all the threaded atomizers. In addition, it has the least amount of flavor. If your looking for a smooth vape then you might wanna consider a 901 or a 801. Those also give you the best flavor and has the smoothest TH.

Lastly, 306's are one of the least forgiving when it comes to squonking. They perform their best when you feed the right amount of juice to them. Which is usually the minimum (3 drops). Some people do go borderline flooded since that's what works for them. In general, they are known to flood. Not as bad as a 901 though.

Also want to mention about the quote that you put up there. Everyone has a different experience when using atomizers. Personally, I haven't noticed much flooding issues with IKV or Cisco 510's. Experience has a part to play in this situation. Since if your new to REO's. Then it takes a bit of time to learn how to squonk correctly. Some learn faster then others. Ultimately, once you get over the learning curve. Then everything will be a breeze by then.

Wow, I love it when stuff makes sense. Sounds like I was treating 306's like you'd expect an ill-informed 510 user. I never primed them with anything more than 3 drops. And, lo and behold, I was trying them out with VERY sweet/thin juices (Ms. T's pistachio and TV's Tastyfinger). Before popping back on and checking this thread out I brought out the 306's again started dripping straight vg on them and they were making massive clouds and giving about 6 puffs before getting harsh. So it seems I just wasn't getting them properly primed.

Big thanks on the quick de-wicking info, I'm going to give that a go.

You guys rock, thanks again for the clarification!

LOL 306's are a completely different beast compared to 510's. The difference is that 510's can hold a little more juice in them compared to 306's. Which are best kept saturated or you will get a dry hit like no one else's business:laugh: (Also, it helps extend the life of the atomizer as well). Other differences is that 510's give less of a TH compared to a 306 but, they give you more flavor. Honestly more of a TH type of a person. So, that works perfectly for me. Although, I do switch up between 510's and 306's. Don't use anything else.

Anyways, yeah those juices that you mentioned aren't mean to be used with 1.5 ohm 306's at all IMO. They just never seem to taste right. You should just get one 1.8 ohm atty to try it out and see how you like it. Priming is definitely important when it comes to getting a good vape. It isn't the only variable worth considering as well. Mentioned that in my previous post as to why they won't work with the atties you have now.

No problem and I think you will notice a big difference. Definitely won't get a burnt flavor again until it needs to be cleaned.

Other things I want to mention when it comes to atomizers. 1 squonk is good for 5 + hits as you've noticed.

It's best to clean your atty after one bottles worth. This helps reduce the gunk build up. Especially when your using dark, sweet, high VG or a combination of all (side note: carto killer). If it gets too gunked up then you will have to resort to dry burning. Which is great initially but, the downside is that it can reduce the life of your atty as well.

The juice that your using in your REO with the 1.5 atty is gonna have an effect. They usually do better with tobacco type flavors compared to fruit and dessert types. Which WILL taste burnt due to the heat that is created from the atty. For those, it's best to use 1.8 ohms or even 2 ohms atties or cartos.

I'll do some searching on ECF, but would you be willing to share some specific juices that you've found to behave well with 1.5ohm 306's? I've got quite a stockpile--alienvision, vsvapor, primevaping, bwb, kbv. Also, is it more an issue of viscosity? Or a matter of flavors morphing into yuck? Fortunately I've always been a tobacco vaper, but I'd like to know if there are some dessert vapes that can stand up to these buggers.

I can say that AVE ROOTBEER started good in my 306 1.5ohm...but after a bottle of it, the juice started tasting burnt. I switched to BWB Blueberry and even after running 1/2 a bottle thru the atty it was still slightly burnt, and the juice in the atty was a dark brown still (that I could see after a squonk). Need to give that atty a nice vodka bath!

I would think VG would burn quicker due to it being an organic substance with higher viscosity.

BWB Blueberry and Halo Malibu have both had 2 bottles run through another atty and that atty still vapes fine.

So I de-wicked one of these 306's, gave it 6 drops of VS4, left it alone for 5 minutes, gave it a puff, and now I'm having a hard time seeing through the 2 feet from my face to the monitor ;) . Yeah, these kind of rock. Definitely a trade off from flavor to throat hit, but I see why these atties are dubbed "vapor cannons."

It could be too soon to tell, but I think VS4 is a juice to put on the well-behaved list. No burny yet.

I'd like to reinforce this idea with a big +1. I'm really fond of 1.8 ohm for a good balance between vapor production and battery life with my Mini.

Need mention that removing the wick it also makes the atomizer flood faster and sometimes leak more

You might mean removing the bridge can cause that. Wicks are pretty unnecessary for attys used on feeders or dripped.
