Hello everyone
Been lurking a bit so i thought I might as well join and say hi.
Like a lot of people here I had been a smoker for a long time some 30 years. [sounds shocking writing it down!]
Unfiltered roll ups were my weapon of choice, getting through around quarter oz [12.5g] per day.
Since the beginning of Jan not had a single one!
Still cant quite believe it, was properly hooked on my rollies, never did like taylor mades though.
This is thanks to being introduced to vaping by a couple of friends.[thanks guys!]

Started by getting a generic ce4 kit from a corner shop [using a e liquid called mb by shisha go] just to give it try, I already had a positive view in light of my friends experience but was mighty impressed when I got it home and vaped for the first time.
It was remarkable how quickly I began to feel better even after only a week of no cigs.:)

When I began noticing the taste of my ce4 was going down hill I sought out spares and discovered the world of vaping. [and this forum]
I still liked my neat ce4 set up but also liked the look of all that chunky stainless i was seeing everywhere..
So a cool fire 1 became my next piece of vaping heaven.
Lovely , looked great nice feel but boy did that 30b leak and gurgle, frustrating to say the least! top flavour when it worked.
I babied it along for a week then thought to hell with it and looked for a better atty.
Rave reviews lead to getting an Aspire Nautilus.
What a beauty, the air control ring reminded of an aperture ring on a camera lens. [some of you will remember those!]
But alas, gurgles and a bit of leaking. this time a bit of care and listening to its wants helped it to settle down to a top vape, great flavour brilliant air control lovely to look at and handle.
It was still a bit problematic though , I tried several spare coils heads but still takes a while to settle down after a fill.
A week of living with it and reading this forum [grrr, hehe] and i just though to hell with it and got myself a Kayfun lite plus..

BLISS:D

I also got myself another innokin but the SVD to see what variable power would bring to the party.[great also]
But the thing I almost love the most is the little Igo-L that i got for tasting juices.
Top flavour and almost like a cig in its instant close up delivery [1.2Ohm] it works great on all the batteries i have though it
mostly lives on one of the sticks that came with a CE4 kit.

There seems to be plenty of very nice drippers out there...must not look, must not look..

Juice gathering is also compulsive...must not look, must not look..

Anyhow, just pleased to be off cigs thanks for reading.

Hi Glen
Thanks, it is nice to be free of cigs!
The kfl and igo were my first coils and i found them straight forward to do.
But I am used to doing small fiddly stuff though my eyes need a bit of assistance these days.
The Igo is pretty spacious and well worth the effort, cheap too, big bang for your buck.
I use cotton wool for the wicks so it is super quick to do flavour changes.

Welcome from a fellow UK vaper :)

I too was a rollie king, you could roll one to how you felt I found, if you wanted a stronger smoke, a thicker rollie was seconds away and cos they always went out, meant they lasted longer too :)

Good call on a Kayfun, I really think it is a damned good allrounder and stay alive a lot longer than others too as I am still on my first navy nest wicking and I have had mine for over a month and still going strong. Never tried a dripper, got one sitting there gathering dust, I suppose I like the instant with the tanks but maybe one day I will try it ;)

Welcome to the forum marc42...

Great to hear that vaping has got you off the roll-ups.

The first rebuildable I ever got was an IGO-W which I paid £15 for. First couple of builds I tried (dual coils) I was dissapointed with the low vapour production. But I persisted, tried different coil configurations and then I hit gold. 1 twisted .2mm Kanthal wire micro-coil (6 wraps comes out about 2R) with cotton wick! Boy oh boy, the vapour production and the taste was fantastic. The screw posts are not the best but once you get it right it's well worth the effort.

Hope you don't mind a small piece of advice... when or if you use a cotton wick less is more. First builds I did I made the dry cotton a snug fit in the coil and they would never wick quite right. I realised that the cotton expands a hell of a lot when soaked in juice and ends up with the coil strangling the wick. So I make the wick so when it's dry it fills about 3/4 of the coil area and don't make the ends too long. What a difference, loads of vapour and no dry hits.

If you not doing this already try it and let me know how you get on :)

Regards
lex

I was in fact addicted to old holborn not cigarettes!
I guess being rollie kings doing our coils come naturally, gone right off the tailor made variety!
looked up navy nest, interesting,my kfl coil is a simple affair with cotton wool, easy to pluck out and replace leaving the coil intact for cleaning.
same with the igo , funny i think the igo is more instant than the others, well if you chop and change flavours.
