I've shared my story before in various places, but the short version is this:
I smoked for 45 years. When my nicotine intake is too low, I experience severe problems with attention and memory, so I was never going to be free of smoking on the "safe and effective" products promoted by the NAL ("nicotine abolitionist league", made up of the ALA, ACS, AHA, and all the anti-smoking groups you can think of, aided and abetted by the U.S. Government.)
E-cigarettes worked for me because I could control the amount of nicotine. The pre-filled cartridges they call "high" didn't keep the brain fog warded off and I noticed my mood slipping. I had to go to 24 mg. liquid and refill my own to get back to being me.
Health effects include: wheezing disappeared, no more "productive cough", I can laugh out loud without being interrupted by a coughing fit, lower LDL and higher HDL, and BP is 117/79.
