10 year old box mod?

A friend of mine who is still a new vaper, recently claimed the vape shop he frequents is owned by a lady that still has her first box mod from 10 years ago. I called bull..... Were there boxes in 2005/2006?

No boxes that I know of....I believe vaping didnt go live until 2007. I have been vaping since 2008 but that was cigalikes

Nah, that seems a bit early. I started in 2011 and they seemed to be just getting off the ground a short while before that. 6 years at the most.

The idea of an electronic smoking device was first presented in the 60's I believe, but the first device was developed until 2003. It was then introduced to China in late 2003, Europe in 2005-2006,and the United States in 2006-2007.
I'm going to say probably not, and not a mass produced one.

Like Rabgertrix said, there might have been some being made to order or made by vapers in a small productions, but not mass produced.

Im sure there is a thread, or used to be a thread on early vapor gear, from way back in the day and I think there were a few early mech boxes.

Im sure some long time vapor guru will chime in soon.

...and she only vaped it on Sundays...if it's THAT old, it's a one of...a mech most likely...

This is what I said. I know when I started, 30w mods were still a big thing and kinda where 75tc and 200w is now. He recently was given an RDA by them, and some kind of internal battery mech box mod thing. No clue what it is. They're also making his coils for him.

What brought that claim up, was an iStick gave him recently bumped the curb. I told him they aren't going to last forever. He referrenced her claim to a 10 year old box she still uses. That jarred me a bit.

VERY curious, and very interesting, if it's so. I don't think it would be terribly difficult for him (would it?) to go and grab a shot of it?

Oh, and the only reason e-cigs didn't catch on in the 60's. Not until 1978 and the advent of designer jeans did the Chinese realize the importance of introducing affordable reproductions to the market place. If we had clones in the 60's it be a done deal by now. Big tobacco would have been out of business.

I still have my 901, 808, 410, 801's around some where around here

Personally I loved my 901's of the day just hated all that leakage every where.


I started vaping in 2008, at the time it was 98% pen likes. And a couple other "mods" made from flash lights, random tubes and such. Of course hotly followed by the awesomeness reo-grands haha

Update to the mod and rda they gave him, Tesla and Aethertech. Looked up the first, did not find a single setting 5 click on and off box mod, and Aethertech is a clone company. I actually still am unsure of his RDA. It's as if I told you, "It's a Tobeco". He seems to enjoy the combo better than his subtank, still this mystery hunting is making me question existence lol. It's different looking at a piece online or in a b&m, than someone telling you about something they're told and unsure and you're trying to decipher lol.
