good afternoon all, i have a slight problem and question for the board members.

so i am trying to stop smoking after 30 years, i am 44 btw. i never smoked that much, even at my worst, i did maybe 1/2 a pack a day. the last few years i smoke maybe 1-3 cigarettes a day and sometimes go 1 or more days with out smoking. i started vaping in hopes i would be able to break my habit completely.

now i have tried using 50/50 blend pg/vg juice. i started at 18mg nic and found that way to harsh. i finally tried 6mg nic and found that works for me. now the issue, i am having very bad shortness of breath. i thought maybe it was the pg juice doing it but i recently tried 100% vg juice and it still seems i get shortness of breath. could it be i am allergic to vg juice?

VG is far more viscous, and I assume that's why it feels so much heavier in the lungs. I had this issue when I first started vaping too. For me, I was able to get past it and now it doesn't happen, but I can't say that it would be the same for you, so you might want to consult a doctor.

I don't know about "allergic," but in my case if I vape something over about 40% vg my lungs feel kind of heavy.

ok yes, i feel like i cant get enough air in my lungs. i thought it was the pg. did a search and found nothing about vg being an issue. so i tried 100% vg and it seems the same or maybe worse. only took a with vapes and i started feeling heavy

yeah i have read that shortness of breath usually accompanies the stopping of smoking. i have been to the dr and nothing is wrong with me. stress test for heart, ekg X3, x-rays, ct scans. nothing. it comes in waves, not a constant thing. i can even go to the gym, run a mile and be ok. then, seems like when i vape, i get the heaviness. might be coincidence?

I have the problem with tightness of lungs and shortness of breath. Been only vaping for 2 years now. Still trying to pinpoint it down. Think I might have a PG allergy but tough to say. I feel better when I use all VG though it is not as satisfying an experience (no throat hit, flavors are muted, and pain to mix even diluted with PGA). Still trying to figure out if maybe it was just some flavors or nicotine itself. Going to try just plain old non nicotine juice, see how that does me.

Post the results once you get the 100% in, I wanna hear the outcome.

Well day 3, no vaping and very little shortness of breath. But there are so many variables that I can't really determine what is the cause. The weather is warmer, I've been having sinus issues since December because of the cold weather. That might be playing a big roll. Also I had to revert to analogs because of my craving for nicotine. I have only smoked 2 analogs but I still think that makes a difference. I wish I could just quit everything at once and not look back. I'm kind of discouraged at the moment.

Cut your vg down to no more than 20%. Its not that you're sensitive to vg as in a pg sensitivity but your lungs are sensitive and, as I understand it, vg coats the lungs a bit which doesn't bother some people but you don't sound like one. 100% pg might be too harsh for what you're used to smoking no more than what you did and zero vg won't give you much vapor.. so, as said, try 20% vg.

Oh, and try not to inhale too deeply if at all. You weren't much of a smoker so you shouldn't really need to. Nic is absorbed in the mouth and nose and its not necessary. Hey, then you'll be able to say "but I didn't inhale.";)
