I have messed with 100% vg in the past and was put off by the almost gross sweetness to it. My question is this, does all vg have that excessive sweet flavor to it? I got it from MFS about a year or so ago and haven't had it since in 100%. I am getting pretty tired of the PG drying out feeling. I used to buy 30pg/70vg premade and was alright with that and now that I am really starting to get into DIY more and more I want to play around more with available options. I usually buy either 60mg or 100mg 100% pg nic and was considering my next nic purchase being 100% vg. I think I have my all day nailed down flavor wise and I know I will have to possibly up the % on flavor if I go all vg etc

Not having tried many vendor's VG, I can only tell you about the two I have tried so far. I started with all liquids (PG/VG/Nic) from RTS, and was very, very happy. Tried to save some dough by buying my next batch from Essential Depot (PG/VG only). They have really good prices but I immediately noticed an overwhelming odd sweetness to it that I found very unfavorable, almost gag-worthy. I will try just their PG in my next mix, hoping that it just the VG that I disliked. But most likely, will head back to RTS since it was great stuff. I'm curious if Wizard Labs PG/VG has the same qualities as RTS. I've heard great things about their Nic so, if others report back that the other components are solid I might try that.

Well I could just slap myself silly. I just realised I have a huge bottle of vg from wizard labs in my kitchen. I might as well just drop some of that on an atty and see for myself with no flavor in it to see. Sometimes at 4 am I have half wit ideas in my head. I suppose others feedback about other places would be good input though....

I bought the glycerin from Wal-mart, the stuff by Humco, I haven't noticed any sweet flavor to it...
I wonder if my taste buds are working yet from quitting smoking?
I heard that one makes some people cough and I too don't get that sweet taste like from others! It is usp & 99.5% Glycerin and after calling the company they do confirm its food grade vg though not sure what the 0.5% is? I've got some and vaped it with no issues so...

I've noticed an underlying taste - I suppose you could call it "sweet" - in every juice I've tried, all in either 80/20 or 50/50, from 4 different vendors and in my DIY PG/VG from High Desert. I suspected I was tasting the underlying flavor of the VG so I vaped a bit of it unflavored 100% and yes, it is the flavor I'm detecting in the juice. It's a taste I find objectionable so I'm on a quest to figure out how to cancel it out. This is going to be an interesting problem to solve because I want to wind up 100% VG, but the underlying taste is noticeable at 20%, objectionable at 50%, and unvapable at 100% (for me).

I'd love to hear ideas about ways to cancel the flavor of VG. I imagine bitter will work to cancel sweet. I have some on order and will experiment with it to see if it works and, if so, at what %. Once I figure that out, I can add it to the VG before I mix with other flavors and should be good to go. In theory anyway. :)

This is what FA has to say about their Bitter Wizard

"Balance your juice ! With the Bitter Wizard we are glad to announce another new development, designed to reduce or eliminate the sweet basic taste given by PG or VG. Adding the BW at 1%, vapers can get a pleasant bitter aftertaste, which can be enhanced further increasing the dosage. BW blends well with dark and tobacco flavors. Give it a try. The bitter taste you were looking for."

Yes I agree that "sweet" or whatever that is, is vile to me and makes me want to gag. I would be doing 100% vg if I could get rid of that taste. The stuff from wizard labs taste identical to all the other vg I have tried so it seems on par. I really enjoy the amount of vapor vg produces but my god that taste just kills it for me.

So far I see we have 2 options vinegar or bitter wizard. I wonder if anyone who does use 100% vg can confirm or deny this?

Thank you! I ordered BW because I read that it works well in tobacco flavors and I have quite a few of those. At the time I hadn't yet identified the underlying offender. I plan to try vinegar as well as a low cost solution.

This forum is great.

I think later when I get around to do some messing around I am going to take plain vg in a bottle and put vinegar in it a drip at a time until the sweet goes away. I will report back (I have to see if I have some cider vinegar around I know I have white)

In the "vinegar thread" I believe the recommended dose was 1 drop per 5ml of vinegar, but the stated goal was not expressly VG cancellation. Please let the know the results of your experimentation. I need to get my behind to work so don't have time to tinker this morning.

Some people use the tart n sour by Lorann's (malic acid) to narrow down the sweetness particularly for fruits or tobaccos but can be used in any flavoring really to add more pizazz. I never got brave enough to use the vinegar. I use it clean windows and other things around my house and thats probably why :)

Pure vg tastes sweet if you taste it from the bottle but does not vape sweet, at least to my taste buds. Granted they have seen much action over the years but that's my take on it. I vape only 100% vg DIY juice now.

Yeah exactly my experiences also. Definitely tastes sweet if you're putting it straight on your tongue :) not so if I vape it straight.

Could just be my tastebuds. Pretty sure my VG's source is Dow chemical...or that might be my PG..hrm.

You should try it.

I does take the Sweetness Edge of e-Liquids. And One Gallon cost what 5ml of Malic Acid Cost.

Also works great for soaking Attys/CE2's

I vape unflavored nic quite a bit between flavors, so vape taste is important to me . I found when vaping base from RTS the VG sweetness is almost unnoticeable and quite pleasant. I want to find another vendor with similar qualities, just as a back up and possibly a money saver. My first experiment with a new vendor didn't go some well, vaping and straight taste testing revealed a much sweeter VG taste. I guess I could add some t&s to save this batch, but I like to keep it simple. If I don't have to another item to my vape I'd rather not.
