130 days and struggling!

Well, it's 130 days since I quit smoking. I'm experiencing quite a few problems with my breathing and a productive cough. My Dr has said I have COPD and I'm having a spirometery test tomorrow. I smoked heavily for 55 years and never was as bad as this. Strangely my sats are 98-99% and chest x-ray shows no problems so I'm not unduly worried. The really oily skin that appeared early has gone away.
I know some will say it's because everything is clearing out of my lungs and other such ideas but I'm sure it's down to vaping. I've not yet fully converted to vaping in that I vape as I used to smoke. I've searched the forums extensively and now realise I must vape differently, not sucking into my lungs but just holding the vapour in my mouth and then blowing it out and am gradually getting there. I drink plenty of water and am not dehydrated, I don't have 'cotton mouth' any more.
I tried VG only e-liquids and that made the cough worse so will go back to mainly PG. I vape about 3ml a day of 18mg so am not among the heaviest users, considering my previous tobacco usage. I really enjoy vaping and fully intend to continue but realise I must continue to adapt to vaping in order to do it properly and for it to have the least bad effects on my health.
I've saved £1300 on tobacco and spent £400 on e-cig equipment (set up for several weeks ahead) but sadly the bank balance has not improved as 'her indoors' tries very hard to keep the balance as near zero as possible!

I would definitely try different juice types. Vapor hits the throat and you might be sensitive to certain ingredient. Also, try vaping warmer. If you have VV, crank the voltage up. If you are using clearo, try using top coil tanks. Lastly, you can try doing primer puff.
Right temperature makes a world of difference in both taste and smoothness.

Don't give up and stay strong.
