One of my 14430 batteries for my infinity fell out of my pocket somehow and ended up submerged in water. I did not initially find it so it was under water for some time.

It's been drying out in some rice for around 24 hours now. I checked it with a voltmeter and I have 3.9v so it is still functioning. I am just paranoid that the protection module has gone out.

Any tips on how to check out the protection module without taking the battery apart or blowing off your hand?

Id say its okay. Water isnt really conductive actually, its the salt in it that is the problem. I think the protection circuit is fine. If anything, it would prevent it from working at all, not just fail and keep the battery working. It should have a mechanism that if it dies, the battery goes with it. Thats the whole point of "protection" amirite?
I think youre good to go.
