I bought one of gary's mods from Liberty Flights along with a few 14500 protected batts. When it arrived today i tried to use it but the battery wouldn't fit at all it a good few mm too long. The batteries are the blue trustfires that i bought from LF along with the mod.

I emailed them this afternoon but havnt heard back yet and i was wanting to take this mod with me when i went away for a week but i cant even get the damn battery in so its useless.

Does anyone know how i can sort this.

eeh that sucks I know the feeling.
I made 1 mod batts fit fine.
bought 2 2xaa boxes without switch and batts are very very very tight fit. seems as if some of the boxes are not giving enough room for the batteries due to where the spring is located.

yet it fits my old 2xaa box identical from years back for something else.
all bought from ratshack.
but the 2xaa with switch i got from madvapes & it fits perfect also.

a standard aa batt is not fitting into the 2 new boxes i bought from ratshack either. there too tight. and I will end up taking them back.

If its same issue with you. it may take some force sadly to make them fit.
compare a standard AA upto your battery & some of the new protection circuits are making the batteries a bit longer. (Depends which circuit there using)

I truly wish you luck on this & hope you can get it resolved promptly
I looked into modding the cases I just bought but dont feel like using that much epoxy just to move a terminal

If it was for a mod i made myself i wouldn't be half as angry as i am now

It wasn't the only thing wrong with the order they only sent me 2 batts when i ordered 4 yet when i emailed to complain about that first it was resolved within 5 minutes of me emailing.

Yet a monumental screw up on their part with the batteries being too big and im still waiting 7 hours on for any kind of recognition of a problem from them.

I mean surely they would need to test the mods out when made yet they didn't think to use the batteries they sell for the test.

Ive tried to force the battery in using both thumbs but its not happening if i apply anymore force im going to break the box.

Well hopefully they get back to ya or else its looking like you will need to do what I mentioned in chat.
for the removing the switch bartab then bending it back a little. then putting the tab back on after it all fits. & either heating the tab or a drop of glue..

hopefully they resolve this in 1 way or another to keep ya happy.

The AA 510 Box mod..

It's because LF is now retailing Garrys mod's, but they have got new batterys with PCB's inside which added length to the 14500's.

Hmm, I have some protected bats that don't have the nipple sticking up on the positive end. Now if I could remember where I got them.

I got a reply from Garry today and he said that the place in china that makes the batteries has changed the batteries spec but not informed them and the batteries that he used to test are older and not as tall hence the mix up. Once he receives the new batteries from Lf hell make a new mod and post it me.

Oh, so that's why. If you remember could you please let me know when he posts you.

Thank you!

be careful with some of the nipple free batteries as 98% of them i have come across are not protected.
as there used for other devices & spot soldered to link batteries or to make packs for stuff such as rc cars & battery packs. And those units currently have a protection built into the unit & charger.

Thanks for the heads up on that!:D

I messaged gary again today and he has only just recieved the batts from LF.
While gary has been in contact LF hasnt even replied once during the whole week neither have they updated the shop to inform new buyers of this error.
There is acknowledgement of it in the forums however.

Apparently LF are getting some new smaller 14500's in but when that will be i dont know.
