I'm at a loss for why there is this 15 post minimum before you can post a thread anywhere but here. I've been vaping since March 09, I can quote to any post and have my post displayed. But if I want to start a new thread, NO way!!. How come I guess is my question? Are my contributions unworthy until I post 15 newbie post. To me this doesn't make since. Would someone clarify the reasoning behind the 15 newbie post before you can post with the rest of your comrades.

I personally just think it's an inconvenience. I could literally type a new thread with the word one in it then two in it then 3 in it...ect up to 15 in about 5 minutes. Then I'm not considered a deadly spamer and could just post away.

The only reason I bring this up was I wanted to give a well deserved praise to vendor for outstanding service, but no, I have to go to newbie land and post 15 messages. While all the time I can add comments to any other post except the one I wanted to post. The 15 post thing won't stop someone from spamming if that's their intent.

I am just trying to make a point.

I will be a good member and come up with my 15 post. I know it's not my web site and I know there are rules and you can say if you don't like it leave and all that stuff, but I do find this to be a very good web site, very informative and all that. I just don't get the 15 post minimum thing is all.

Actually, you can't start a thread with only one word in it either. Unless it's a 10 character word. :D

Now That's funny

I don't think 15 posts are that many and besides praising with only 1 post is perfect in the NEW members forum anywhere else would either be ignored as spam or already have been said by a more seasoned member

and besides EVERYONE sees the New Members forum even the 10yr 10,000 post vets :D

I think the 15 post requirement also serves to build a good sense of community on this forum also.

It encourages newbies (like me) contribute, ask questions, seek answers for myself, offer what I can offer, etc. before starting a thread in another forum that might potentially be dangerous (modder's forum) or might clutter up another forum. If newbie questions weren't confined to the newbie forum, we'd have hundreds of members sign up, post "which e-cig should I get?" and then never visit the site again.

like the OP, I didn't know about the 15 post minimum when I first signed up and thought it was inconvenient.

just my 2cents

Take it from someone that was a "supermod" on a forum with over 70,000 members, preventative methods like this might seem like too much but they are extremely successful at driving away spammers.

Just look at it like this; It might be a pain now but when you're over that 15 post limit and are participating on the site as anyone else would you'll be thankful that it exists. Why? You'll notice that there aren't a ton of random pr0n posts and fake "sale" threads just trying to get your money or, better yet, trick you into installing malicious software.

When you run a forum like this every preventative method you can take to protect yourself and your members are pure gold and you will utilize every single new trick you come across.

I'm new and haven't hit 15 yet but it seems reasonable to me. Probably weeds out a lot of people who, instead of spending some time reading and researching, would post a new thread to ask something they could find for themselves with a little effort. BUT I don't think the ability to edit your own post should require a minimum # of posts!!!!! (I'm frustrated about not being able to edit one of min earlier.)
