17 days without a stinky... now my tobacco ejuice starts tasting like a dirty ashtray?

I had cleaned the tank multiple times, but continued with the two-week old coil. I just switched to a new coil and NO MORE BURNT TASTE! WOOT! Thank you! I'm not 100% on understanding these coils as I haven't rebuilt one yet but I'm thinking the wick was fouled.

Probably; I didn't run into this until I'd used the same one for almost 3 wks, THEN learned, hey, these things don't last forever! :D Along with the rinsing in very hot water that was suggested (a very good idea!), there's also another stage before you get to "totally shot, must be rebuilt" -- dry burning the coil. This absolutely terrified me; I have zero knowledge or experience with the innards of electrical stuff, but it actually turns out to be pretty danged easy, not terrifying at all. I watched a really good how-to video 5 or 6 times before I got brave enough to try it, and it works great! Check out this video, this is the one that basically taught me how to do it --

The only thing he doesn't cover is actually *replacing* the flavor wick -- he shows doing a torch-burn of the existing silica wick, but most of us DON'T have torches handily in our homes; I've found that replacing the silica wick with 100% cotton is actually better; it gives MUCH better taste, and no need to worry about burning your house down. :D

What was suggested to me was a cotton yarn available at Walmart for a couple bucks, called "Peaches and Cream" -- you use a whole strand, no need to worry about unraveling the yarn, and after you get it into place right on top of the coil and reassemble the chimney and rubber grommet to the coil, just cut to size so that it's filling the little slots, not much sticking out, just enough to catch some juice. Also, it's not necessary for sanitation to boil the piece of yarn beforehand, but will remove any impurities that might adversely affect the taste.

Good luck! Vape on! :vapor:

Everyone here has pretty much nailed it I think. First, try changing out your coils. That could be it.

But it also could be just like everyone else said; your tastes have changed. When I first started I had my mind made up that it had to taste like cigs. Which did work, but I soon found I didn't like the flavor anymore. Especially after I started trying other juices, more fruity flavored and such. My wife absolutely couldn't stand the tobacco juice smell and hated me vaping it. I still have the juice, just haven't thrown it away yet. I did find some good cigar flavored juice, but don't vape it much either. It's good for a while, then easy to put down.

Long story short, I don't much like the tobacco flavored juices anymore, especially after tasting so many other flavors that have nothing to do with tobacco.

I wish someone could point me to any sweet flavors other than redhot -- got that already -- or menthol -- got peppermint, which is the closest to menthol I can stand -- that have THROAT HIT! I just can't be satisfied with this as a replacement for cigarettes without *some* throat hit. I just ordered some of Halo's Belgian Cocoa tonight, because of their sale, and all the high recommendations I got for it when I asked about chocolate flavors, but my plan is to add some of the peppermint to it; I tried Halo's shamrock and thought the choc was good, but the mint was weak, so I figured I'd mix it to my own specs. But I'd really love to vape some of these flavors, but I'm afraid to spend much in pursuit of good flavors, knowing I want throat hit and that most of the sweets I've tried so far just don't have it.

I am definitely leaving the tobacco flavor (at least as my main vape) but for now it's all I have and I'm poor.

BradJ ... if you send me your real name and address in a private message, I have a 15 ml bottle of choclate mint I will PIF to you.

it tastes JUST like one of those Andes Mints chocolate candies - but much to my own surprise, it turns out that i don't much care for vaping that flavor.... it's a very low nic level, only 3, but you can add a a little of it to your tank to mix with your tobacco flavor, and it should make it taste a LOT better.

(And another thing about this particular juice is also, it is VERY inexpensive - $4.50 for 15 ml and $8.00 for 30 ml. So if you wind up liking it, going forward it is a perfect vendor for budget vapers like you and me. i love this guy's juice ... in addition to the very low price it also happens to be DELICIOUS and flavorful.)

so send me that PM and i will put it into the mail!!!

I've gone through the same thing. I had a tobacco flavored juice that got me through the first two weeks or so...then I threw it out. Two of the flavors I bought also taste the same and will probably get pif'd when I can find someone that wants 100% VG 36mg French Vanilla and Black Clove from MBV. :)

Funny thing is that I did taste a cigarette a week ago or so and it had that flavor that got me hooked. But I said "I have better flavors now" and knew that the taste about it that I liked wouldn't last. I also don't want to stink like I used to anymore.

Thank you so much, MissBlue! PM sent, and I promise to further PIF as possible!

I went thru the same thing. Bought a bunch of tobacco flavors when I first started. I can't stand the flavor of any of them now. I hear it's a pretty common occurrence. I think, for me at least, since there are so many better flavors out there why would I bother with something that tastes like an analog.

Just for the record, I'm four months in, and still prefer a good tobacco to any of the fruits and candies I've tried. I like a good cinnamon roll or butterscotch, but my regular vape is tobacco.

Most tobacco's require a pretty long steep (unless they're pre-steeped), so had to learn not to judge them right out of the mailbox.

Thanks Mike.

I'm of the opinion that I have enough now that I can dilute some here and there with AG to 40/60 18mg or 60/80 24mg, enjoy some full 80/20 at full 36mg here and there, (is my math right?)... mix and match here and there with various flavors, and still have plenty to just give it away wholesale to friends who I'm trying to help who are still on the stinkies.

Seems like win/win.

Thanks again
Brad

Taowulf, I really, really don't want to be greedy, especially after MissBlue was already so kind to offer to send me some mint-chocolate. That was for ME.

My wife, Jennifer, nor I have never really ever tried anything other than tobacco flavored juice.

But when we got our tax return, and I asked her, all she asked for was a vanilla flavor (and what is better vanilla than French?). :)

Friday, my wife, 7 year old daughter Katie and I, drove five hours to my parent's house for Easter ham. I had asked my stepfather to do a traditional ham with pineapple and cloves. My wife RAVED on the cloves today. I know it sounds contrived but I promise it's not. I'll leave it to you, I'm not asking for anything.

My wife, though... wow. It's like too easy and I feel like a jerk for asking even for her because it sounds like I'm just making it up.

I don't know how to prove I'm not making it up, or if she'd even agree to it. But I do know she'd love it.

Just PM me and I can PM you back. Maybe I can convince her to do so as well.

Wow. Thanks
