Probably; I didn't run into this until I'd used the same one for almost 3 wks, THEN learned, hey, these things don't last forever!
The only thing he doesn't cover is actually *replacing* the flavor wick -- he shows doing a torch-burn of the existing silica wick, but most of us DON'T have torches handily in our homes; I've found that replacing the silica wick with 100% cotton is actually better; it gives MUCH better taste, and no need to worry about burning your house down.
What was suggested to me was a cotton yarn available at Walmart for a couple bucks, called "Peaches and Cream" -- you use a whole strand, no need to worry about unraveling the yarn, and after you get it into place right on top of the coil and reassemble the chimney and rubber grommet to the coil, just cut to size so that it's filling the little slots, not much sticking out, just enough to catch some juice. Also, it's not necessary for sanitation to boil the piece of yarn beforehand, but will remove any impurities that might adversely affect the taste.
