are they all the same? can a person go from 2500mAh to 3000mAh ?
what do you use?

It depends on your wattage on a regulated variable wattage device is the determining factor of how many amps you will need from a battery, on a mech/unregulated device then it is your resistance (Ohms) that decide how many amps you will need from a battery.

Regulated mod formula is as so (Set Watts/Lowest Voltage of the battery or batteries)/90% Mod Chipset Efficiency=Max Amps needed
Example
120watts on a dual battery mod, being most dual battery mods are series, the voltage is doubled, and generally on average most mods shut down or kick a check battery error at about 3.2v, 3.2X2=6.4v, triple battery this figure would be 9.6v
120/6.4=18.75amps/0.9=20.8333max amps needed from the batteries
20amp CDR battery 60watts and below per battery is fine
25amp CDR battery 75watts and below per battery is fine
30amp CDR battery 90watts and below per battery is fine

Now on a mech/unregulated the formula is (fresh charge voltage of battery/ohms=amps)
Fresh Charge on a battery is about 4.2v
Examples
4.2v/1.0ohms=4.2amps
4.2v/0.5ohms=8.4amps
4.2v/0.25ohms=16.8amps <---- any 20amp CDR or higher battery will work
4.2v/0.14ohms=30amps <---LG HB2, 4, or 6 1500mah 30amp CDR batteries only
4.2v/0.1ohms=42amps <--- Pipe Bomb and dangerous

A little bit to much information, but there to research none the less.

Depending on your max amps needed, if you are on a single battery mod 60watts and under regularly then the Samsung 30Q 3000mah would be ideal for you, same instance on a dual battery mod if you are 120watts and lower, then a 3000mah battery will suit you better, triple battery mod 180watts and below then again a 3000mah battery would be fine for your application.

In general, the trade off is mAh capacity vs. amp loading. If you need a high amp battery, you will have to put up with lower capacity. I personally would not put a battery rated less than 20A continuous discharge in a vape device, meaning 2500-3000 mAh is all you're going to get. All that said, more mAh is better as it allows you to go longer between charges. But going longer between charges is not worth a trip to the hospital because your battery vented while it was in your mouth. HG2s, 30Qs and VTC6s are all good choices, as has been said. And buy them from a reputable dealer, not on eBay. There are counterfeits running around.
