Hello all,
i'm currently regulated mod user and have some simple question.
will I be able to use mechmod (18650) about the same time period (before charging) as I use iStick 30 ?

I'm neither cloud chaser, neither subomer.
I use 1.5-1.8 om coils at about 12w
I'm even comfortable vaping at 9w and lower - it just takes bit longer till coils starts working.

The battery (18650) and iStick have (or should have) about the same mAh
and even keeping in mind mech mods wattage drop over the usage time
(comparison with kick also interesting) I'm interested in usage time.

p.s.
by using 18350 I should get x3 less shorter usage time?

My guess is that the mech will always use the battery faster. assuming all else is equal...... BUT in real life the Regulated might need to be recharged more, because we will be tempted to increase the power to above that of NATURAL draw of a coil. 18650 in a mech with a 1.8ohm coil and 2500mah batt will last say 70 minutes @7-9watts, If you run the regulated at say 12watts now you only get 50minutes.

With a 1.5 coil your ranges would basicly be like 11w with a pretty full charge averaging 9-10w down to 8 before you'd need to charge.. so pretty much within the range you'd say you'd enjoy. Biggest thing that always turns me away is I seem to raise my wattage a little as the day goes for whatever reason, seems like I would get annoyed with my power dropping as I vape throughout the day.

I guess putting Kick in a basket along with mech mod would be nice safety measure and it won't break the bank account.

IDK about safety, although it will do that. I use a kick in my mod because I want basically the same vape from charge to charge. Also because I vape at levels withing the spec of the kick. The PREFER a 2ohm coil running at about 8-10watts. Without the kick That coil would start at around 7 watts and go down from there. Sure You could do a sub 20watt box mod for almost the same money as a mech, kick charger and batts, But the mech is just cooler.

Yes, with the arrival of more compact and reliable sub-ohm VV/VW mods, mechs are dead as a functional purpose due to its irritating voltage drop and battery drain which makes you vape like a broken record, always shortchanging you with power loss, regardless of whether copper tube, more batteries in boxes etc.
.
My two mechs has been totally cast aside since arrival of my Kanger KBox.

But aesthetic wise, mech tubes are still simplest to use, cool looking and must be kept safe at all costs.

In the event of EMP nuclear strike in an underground bunker, only mechs can save you.

in theory the same mAh rating should give you about the same runtime.

Don't understand peoples comparisons. They are different Mod designs.

A regulated mod running 7w is NOT going to produce any better than a Mechanical firing a 1.4 ohm coil
Both will require more power to run lower coils and both will drain the battery faster.

With the Mechanical it is simply a matter of selecting the coil resistance that delivers a satisfying vape.

*Efest Purple 18650 delivers about 1/2 the vape time of an 18650 1500mah battery. 1/3rd that of a 2500mah battery.

A regulated mod running 7w is NOT going to produce any better than a Mechanical firing a 1.4 ohm coil

A mech mod with a full battery charge would be firing a 1.4ohm coil at 12.6W. You wouldn't hit 7W until you've dropped below a 3.2V battery charge.

Both will require more power to run lower coils and both will drain the battery faster.

But not the same way. Let's say you have a 1.5ohm coil on both a mech mod and a regulated mod. The mech mod will start at 11.8W (rounding up) so let's say you set the regulated mod to 11.8W as well to achieve the exact same vape.

As you use the mech mod the voltage drops, which reduces the wattage. With the regulated mod the wattage does not drop and the mod drains the battery faster to maintain the same power delivery level. The regulate mod will drain the battery faster than the mech mod. However, you'll probably recharge the mech mod battery sooner because the drop in voltage leaves you with an unsatisfying vape half way through the battery charge.

With the Mechanical it is simply a matter of selecting the coil resistance that delivers a satisfying vape.

That depends entirely how much metal is in the coil.

I've built MANY twisted wire coils that are simply unusable on a mech. The amount of time required to heat up the metal is astronomical in vaping terms on a mech mod. Literally 5-10 seconds of firing before the coil is hot enough to produce vapor, despite it being a 1-1.2ohm build.

Weight isn't an issue with me.
I want a full vape all day long.
I want durability.
I want no limitations.
I want it to work if I drop it.

Dimitri dual 18650 mechanical.
Ivogo clone.
No wires, no chip, solid aluminum, copper contacts, 4000+ mah, $30.

I got one to, enjoy using my boxes that I built more just cause, well...I built em ahaha. But if I were not using my own boxes and DNA40s, I would use my Dimitri 80% of the time.
