I just made my first device yesterday and had my last cigarette at exactly 1:30am last night! It is now 3:30am the next evening and I haven't craved a smoke at all. I do find myself missing the idea of having a cigarette sitting there, but every time I go to reach for it, I just grab my device. This is great!
Having smoked up to 2 or 3 packs a day for almost 15 years, the idea of going one WHOLE day without even reasonable cravings is unreal to me. Staggering really. After trying patches, gum and Snus with zero success (I smoked just as much WHILE using these methods!), I was skeptical of this being little more than an excuse to be able to "smoke" in otherwise forbidden places (namely, my wife's new car and inside the house).

Thank you everyone for the advice and suggestions you give out every day. I had passively looked into this a few years ago, but only recently discovered this community surrounding it. Had it not been for your knowledge, guidance, and the forums at ECF and Nu-Vapor, I know that I would be someone who smoked for the rest of my life.

Keep it up man, Im hoping the switch has the same affect on me..... I smoke 8mg analogs maybe 20 - 25 a day for the last maybe 17 years.

I invested a fair bit of coin and havent even recieved my ecig in the post yet! Bought a 510T Starter kit for out and about and a Silver Bullet from altsmoke.com for home with atties and bits and bobs.

Your words are encouraging!

Big Congrats Grey!!! I found after 25 years of 1-2 packs a day that once I picked up the E-Cig I have never wanted an analog again. This in spite of the fact that I didn't really want to put any effort towards quitting because, although I wanted to be a non-smoker, I liked smoking! Now, 6 months later, I love, love, love Vaping! ECF is a wonderful resource and the members are so helpful and friendly. Welcome to ECF and welcome to Vaping!

Amfamora - sounds like you picked some good start up equipment! Good luck to you, hope your kits arrive soon and Happy Vaping!

That's awesome that you took so well to it, it was my Ego-T that made me ditch smokes for good, but since it was only my second unit that I had tried, I thought that was pretty good. After 15 years and being up to almost 2 packs a day at the time I purchased it, it took me 3-4 days to go analog free. Once in a while I still crave the real thing, but then I just switch over to my menthol juices and that does it for me. I have even gotten quite a few friends and family members to switch to vaping instead of smoking, one being my friend who vowed to be put to rest with a cig hanging out of his lips, and now he's been analog free since mid-June!

Hope you keep loving it, and if you find yourself getting discouraged by either the unit you have or juices, just remember there are hundreds of sites out there and thousands of different products, one of them will suit you just fine.

Congratulations! Being cigarette free is so amazing. After a few weeks you wont even be thinking about cigarettes! Even when you are around them all you think of is how gross they smell (because they do, I never noticed until I quit).
This is sort of the problem with going outside now (to not offend and adhere to "no smoking policies"). I was at an event where I figured i would go outside since I had never tried to stealth vape or vape around others, I think I had been vaping for a couple months at the time and had been analog free for about that long. I went outside and could not stay out there with the 50 or so smokers that also were on break there I was overwhelmed by the stink of it. As a smoker I would have been ok with it I never seemed to mind. Congrats to those here that have or are quitting analogs though I know my kids are so happy to have me off of them and I can work out without wanting to die now!

I hear you. Well done dude. I'm 9 days in, and already feeling confident enough to step down my nicotine strength to 11mg. So long as I get the throat hit, some great flavour and the proverbial clouds of vapor, it's all golden.

Like you, I was looking forward to a long, drawn out demise, analogue firmly in death grip. The world's changing around us, smokers get treated like second class citizens these days - "quit or die!" they tell us as they wrinkle their noses and put a mile wide exclusion zone around us.

Here's to feeling empowered again!

Congrats! Vaping really does open up a whole new world and seriously surprised the hell out of me when I first tried it. I didn't really hold any expectations when I picked up my first PV either, I'd just done a ton of research, and it sounded like it could work, but it's such a personal thing that you just never know. Well, I found out, and I was floored at how good it was. For the first time, I didn't even want a cigarette, and it wasn't because I had a cold so bad I was physically unable to inhale the smoke. I simple didn't need one. Vaping completely took over, and I can't remember being quite so happy about anything.

Keep it up, I think you'll find it's really easy.

Congrats to you! Like others stated, I really like vaping. I cannot remember having fun with cigarettes since I learned to blow smoke rings at about age 11. LOL I know I'll settle down a bit with vaping being so fun, but trying a few mods and a lot of flavors has been a blast for me. My start of day 57 analog free begins at 2 pm Central time, and I do not miss analogs after 40 yrs, 36 of them daily and often at 2 packs a day! Wow, right!??

Even with my brother currently staying with me and us both going outside some for him to smoke and me to vape, I don't miss it- and even find it slightly nauseating to smell. I admit the first drag he takes, sometimes smells good, but he and the ashtray on the porch both stink so bad, that I cannot ever see me going back. I also let him use my old 510 South Beach units and refilled a few with some flavors for him, but he's complaining it makes him hyper and smokes instead 75% of the time. I know he's still heavily ADHD, yes- even at 41 yrs old, but I cannot fathom why a broke person who claims to be so sick, keeps smoking analogs when he can vape for free.

Nice to not even be tempted by the cigs, even taking two drags over the last 56 days did nothing but make me act like a cat with peanut butter on it's tongue- the blech factor. LOL

I am happy for you, for all of us. Congrats again!

Great to hear, Grey Radean. What was your equipment and juice of choice to start with?

I wanted to have direct control over my method of quitting, so I ordered the parts necessary to create my first 3.7v device with a 14500 battery. Had it built within 30 minutes.
I thought about buying a nice pre-made mod like a Silver Bullet or GLV2 to start, but as I mentioned in a different post, there was almost something poetic about using the same hands that were killing me for 15 years to build the first device that would save me... or at least give me a fighting chance.
I also ordered a 30ml bottle of 24mg Irish Mintz, and a 30ml bottle of 24mg Dekang RY4. The 'Mintz is OK, and I am still adjusting to the RY4 (it's definately NOT what I was hoping for, or expecting). The TH on them was a bit too much at first, but I've grown to really like it. I also got a 5 pack or Boge 2.0ohm cartomizers... 2 of which I've already burned :(

I just received a switching regulator from TI and will be making a VV mod soon. I hear some great things about vaping at higher voltages and can't wait to see what all the buzz is about.

40 hours and counting now.

Sorry to hear about the carto toasting, it happens, particularly when you're new, and aren't familiar with knowing when to top off. You might want to make your next carto order a slightly higher resistance, 2.8ish, they won't heat up as much and won't guzzle juice quite as quickly so you've got a bit of leeway to figure when to top off.

I know what you mean about the desire to craft your own PV, if the USPS was a little quicker I'd be vaping on my new DIY mod right now, but noooooo my goodies have to sit in B-more over the weekend. Just wait, since you've already be bitten by the modding bug you'll start making everything into a PV.

I've been vaping for a month now and I know how everyone feels. Its the same story I hear when I go to my local shop. Everyone there was a prior smoker and has moved on to vaping. For all those that are just starting out, do yourself a favor and just get rid of the analogs! I know its hard, my first day I craved one so badly but I stuck it out. The next day, the craving was about 75% less, and every day after that it went down dramatically. For the past two weeks I've not had a craving at all. And my job has me going into the homes of people who smoke. Now the smell of cigarette smoke is nauseating.

Keep up the good work and kick that habit to the curb. E-cigs should be marketed a stop smoking aid, I know it helped me. I'm now smoke free!
