Now that I have this XC 116 NEX skinny TEL on both of my active REOs, I haven't felt the desire to rebuild either one yet. Ones been on for 6 days and the other for 3. Both vape exactly the same as they did after the 3 or 4 break-in hits.

Looking like my new drug of choice.

I'm running this EXACT setup on my Genny. You are NOT kidding when you say it was a pain to setup!! I'm using .8 ribbon, 7x7 3/32 rope, XC116 from Big Tex. I havent had a dry hit in ages. That wire rope REALLY wicks by itself, so adding the ceramic mesh puts it over the top!

Its not that hard, use some good cable cutters not just wire cutters and file the cut end a bit, but only pull the file across of you push it will fray the cable and get caught as you slide it on the Nextel. Wire cutters will flatten the cable and make it fray a good clean cut is the key.

Just to be clear I cover the whole wick with Nextel xc116 (the red thing in the end is heat shrink tubing to help threading through the wick hole) not just the top coil area. 20130606_003029.jpg20130606_003119.jpg

I'm thinking that the ss rope will not hold its shape if bent and so it may not be of use inside my longer wicks which curl around on top the floor of a RM2, but would work well inside a coil without a long tail. Glad you guys found "vape heaven" on your particular devices :)

It wont take a sharp bend very well but I think it could work. I do think it would work well on a Vivi Nova type setup. The ss rope will bend ok but is difficult at tight angles, trying to get it through a tight wick hole can damage the Nextel if there's a lot of pressure.

Dry burning the Nextel has become a daily chore so decided to soak in hot water, then later in vodka and see if this helps. In the meantime I built a coil using 1/16" Nextel, wrapping .7mm ribbon wire 6x around the Nextel with paper clip leg inserted inside the core. Measured at 1.3ohms. Since the 1/16 is considerably thicker than the 1/32 Nextel there could be no chance of it going around outside the posts and so I just made it span from one edge of the rim to the other. No long leg going around the perimeter of the RM2's floor so there was no need for a piece of wire inserted inside the wick too.

Still noticed that only after some use the flavor and vapor production reached maximum potential. By all accounts its just as good as my earlier experiments with the 1/32 Nextel. Vapes per squonk was the only thing deficient but managed 15 pretty good hits. Although the wick being much less in length it made up for some of that by being thicker. Wicking properties about the same as the smaller Nextel so had to do a big squonk and hold with the coil side of the atty tilted towards myself. The hold keeps extra juice in the atty so the wick can reach maximum absorption.

I raved about the 1/32 and the 1/16 is just as good. Makes it tough to decide what to order when the time comes. For me the 1/16 is such an easier build and getting 15 hits is not at all troubling to do a sqounk in between runs so it sounds to be a better option, not to mention the cost savings by using a shorter wick (1/16 and 1/32 are priced the same). If I had used a little longer wick even coiling a bit inside the atty cover I may make up for the lost vapes too :)

Now, to see how long it lasts.
