I'm trying mine with peanut butter in it.

I've returned to the good place; micro. Knocked a couple off my 13 wrap, ~10 (28g -0.8Ω?). I'm finding I need to leave some of the skinny hanging out. When I take a nice big tuck, I need that much juice. That said, tho, I'm in vaping heaven.

Made a dual coil - on a single wick effort, using really fat 3mm silica, that Clyde put me up to. 4 wraps @ 1.25 and it's ripping along. I have 5 mods that use RM2's and 2 as spares (one for her stuff and one for mine!).

Thanks to Commie for the tips on making them and thank God for magnifying headsets! That was not too bad to thread thru the posts really. And i needed a break from the 'indestructible' nextel.

If i had to do a cost v vape v time to replace, then i reckon it'd be a tough choice between the nextel and the silica. I left out the porous cos it's for science and all and that is the most costly of the lot! But even if it's dreadful in the vv, i can always use it in a genesis.

i cleaned my nextel wick yesterday and dry burned it a bit and prodded it. The coil is in worse shape than the wick. The wick is only singed a little where the coil rests - the remainder is after a quick rinse as good as when i fitted it.

I'm not sure the wick you use has to be any longer than the two posts of the RM2 - i do not think the tail on mine adds anything to the wicking.

It always reminds me of everlasting lightbulbs and so on - if there was never any need to make new coils - repaint - or change the lights, my mrs would have nothing to whine about!

Alls I'm sayin' is that; with an 8 second pull on a 0.8Ω micro-coil, I need about ↓that↓ much wick/juice @ the coil. That's how much juice turns into steam. It can't be "ready for wicking", must be "in the wick & at the coil"

←←←oops.

Couldn't do that with the drippers, cause the juice in the well caramelized. Here, in the Goosebox, the rest of the juice is safely tucked away in the next room.

I'm on day 3 with a very short Nextel wick (barely wider than the coil) in a micro coil on my grand and it is highly awesome. :)

I'm abusing the hell out of my nextel -- changing juices, dark juices, natural tobaccos and everything. The poor thing is holding up very well!

i don't think Super's cotton balls will withstand the abuse we can throw at them is all, hence looking for different materials. They work fine for HRH, but she vapes maybe 10 times in an hour and they will last her for a week at times (Remember to squonk before you vape dear).

On the other hand is a caveman such as me, and i rarely have a reo out of my hand and wherever i go - i leave contrails. My black grand has seen more abuse than a Romanian orphanage but still works. I saw a coil once made of 2 wires together on the same wick and i asked Commie about it. Turns out it works really well, last one i made was 0.7 with 3 wraps of 32g. "is that safe?" (HRH) - well i'd be unlucky to get electrocuted by a 4 volt battery wouldn't i?

Whether it lasts worth a crap - we'll see. But the nextel or 116 - yeah, i reckon that stuff is really good. Big Tex Vapor sold mine and at $14 for 2' i was a bit doubtful.

^^^ pdib, that's about double the amount of wick I have in mine. Mine is about 1/16" past the coil on each side. As good as this stuff is, that seems sufficient. I'm really diggin it now that I realize that the "wetter" feeling vape is due to humidity in the air. Thanks for introducing me to it.

I have decided to run a bit with this dual coil thing - i can finally make some sub-Ohm coils. Started with 2 last night and they came in at 1.5 (4 wraps on really fat 3mm silica) and the other, same wick and 3 wraps - 0.7 Ohms.

So of course today i made one on the nextel. I stuffed a paper clip thru it and wrapped 4 x 32g kanthal on it and cut the excess off the wick rather than have a tail this time. This comes in at 0.68 Ohms and it's a boomer!

in short: fat silica - 1.5 on a grand, nextel - 0.68 on a grand. I'll give these a thrash for a week and see how it goes. As an aside, the nextel wick is one i am reusing from a rather abortive attempt i had when i made my long term atomiser.
This is rather fun!

Wow!!! 8 sec pull, I cannot possibly do that, my old lungs gives out at about 5 on a RM2. BTW, excellent pic of your setup pdib :).

No rinsing on my 3rd build yet, flavor is still exceptional. I have twice ran a q-tip across the coil to wipe off some smuck, not bad for 6 days of very heavy vaping :).

Thought to mention this as it may be of help to someone. Not long after wiping off smuck on coil with q-tip the second time, I began getting harsh hits and reduced vapor production. Some of the leftover smuck might have settled between the coil wires affecting the vape. I did a dry burn until there was no evidence of vapor/smoke and coil returned to producing excellent vapor once again.

I slid some Nextel over some stainless cable/rope the whole way top to bottom in my RSST. The combo works fantastic. Its 1/32 XC-116 Ceramic Wick Kiln Treated from big tex over 3/32" Diameter 316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope 7 X 7 Strand Core, from McMaster-Carr. Kind of tricky 2 get the xc-116 over the SS cable but well worth the effort.

Thank you for your input, great idea to use the ss rope to expand the Nextel core and aid with the wicking of your juice :)

I'm running this EXACT setup on my Genny. You are NOT kidding when you say it was a pain to setup!! I'm using .8 ribbon, 7x7 3/32 rope, XC116 from Big Tex. I havent had a dry hit in ages. That wire rope REALLY wicks by itself, so adding the ceramic mesh puts it over the top!
