Back to the kayfun issue.

It doesn't look right at all the way you built yours, please take a moment to look at GrimmGreen's video:

You'll be much better off running the coil perpendicular to the deck and putting the cotton through the coil...

Are you threading the cotton through the hole in the coil? It appears to me that the coil is facing the screws with the cotton pushed between the coils. Here's an old build that needs new cotton but shows how I set mine up.

So that's the build from the kayfun. Im goimg to try your way this time. It looks like u tucked cotton down? Videos I watched put the cotton through coil and point it out and up to screw the first convering over , then snip cotton at top and screw spiral top and continue to assemble. Hows that sound?

One last question since kayfun doesn't have eye screw to thread , do you wrap coil aroumd post...or just anything as long as its secure? (This was the worst part) Find a tank rebuildable with nice eye screws like the Stillare. .

Calling it a night but thsts the Stillare. I took cotton out of both and through the nautilus on for the night. Love it never fails. Now if I could get my rebuildable skills down it be a wrap.

From your pic, I don't see any wick going through the coil, just on the outside?? (Might be the angle of the pic.)

I generally lay my coil about right angled to the screws, about 2 mm up from the air intake on the top of the base. And it does look like you at least need longer wicks - the pic shows almost none on the right side.

I agree. I think you will have better luck turning your coil 90 degrees (openings of coil facing away from screws)

Re-wick with material of your choice, prime with juice, trim so they are just long enough to lay on the deck (but not so long as to block the juice channels), reassemble and Vape happy.

It also looks like your wick is running perpendicular to the coil as opposed to "thru the tunnel". It may just be the picture though.

The Stillare I think is gonna be tougher to get hang of proper cotton . That's only consistency that I can think of that is same. So figure it out once and should be ok with any rebuildable (I think/hope)

I don't know if you've tried Rayon (cellucotton) yet as a wick. I never could get my cotton wick right but I hit rayon right the first try.

Basically, as I understand it, I was probably using to much cotton but that's not the case with rayon (cotton expands when wet rayon shrinks).

If you haven't tried it, you might check with a local B&M and see if they would give you some. It completely cured my dry and/or burnt vapes.

From the looks of it it does look like you were burning the wick... It shouldn't be black like that! Unless maybe it's a really old build. Whats funny is that I had the same exact issues you are having when I first got my Kayfun and come to find out that I was putting to much cotton and it was blocking the wells. I made a little diagram here and this should get you going hopefully!

P.S. The second you get that first dry hit STOP puffing on it and get more juice in the well by putting your finger over the vent hole on the side of the kayfun and take a quick hit (without firing).. this will introduce juice back into the well... then give it a a few for the juice to re saturate it self.

Yes, cotton, rayon or whatever, wick through the inside of the coil.

I use the "bunny ears" style as well, putting the bottom part of the chimney on, snip the wick ends (I use rayon, and snip about 1/8 to 1/4 above the top.) Then gently tuck it down around both sides of the deck. Then finish up. Put some juice on first, if you want. I usually don't since I'm not always sure what's going into it next Just have to let it sit awhile when first filling then, before vaping.

Cotton swells, rayon shrinks. So cotton needs to just drag the inside of the coil. Rayon, use more, and almost to the point of deforming the coil. Practice is all it takes, and different size coils take different amounts.

With your wick NOT going through the coil, there's nothing there to help in the heat transfer. Any juice will burn instead of vaporize, May have been the cause of your flamed wick, too.

I usually put the chimney on before cutting my cotton ( the bunny ear technique ) but either way is fine. As been said, cotton swells, you can see how much my cotton had swelled over 3 days of use. Have fun with your Kayfun!!

I also was putting chimney on theb cutting cotton . Not sure I understand what mean by bunny ear tech ....noob sorry.
On way home now tho give a try at building both. I have some 28 n 32 im gonna use the 32 on the kayfun and stay with the 28 on the Stillare dripper.

I'm not sure if I really understand your question but I have mounted my kayfun coils in the following ways...

Both ways will work but require a little bit different wicking method.

The way in the Kayfun instruction manual is to have the coil going diagonally (this is the most efficient in terms of wire usage), but for the majority of people the best way is to have the coil across the deck:

After watching the video that you linked up he says diagonally. Thats what I was getting confused on. But guess dont matter much as long as above air hole.

This is just a style of wicking. You leave the wick at it's full length. Insert it through the chimney base and install it. You will be left with the 2 pieces of wick coming out of the top of the chimney base (bunny ears). Trim the "ears" and then place the wick down in the chimney on the base.
