I am loving it. I had 2.5 (I think) cigs yesterday, and none today! From a pack and a half a day of Newports.... I must say, I feel fine. I was worried that I would over vape to compensate, but this has not happened. I tend to take it when I need it, which turns out to maybe 2-20 puffs an hour, depending on how active I am.

What is amazing is about twice an hour I have that fiend for a smoke. I get a slight panic knowing that I am done with cigs, then I remember that my Provari did me right the last hour....so I take a puff. Bam. Craving gone! wooohoo!

Soon, that instinct to need a smoke will be gone, and I will preemptively be satisfied knowing I don't need a real smoke.

I may be experiences withdrawals....but I have kicked opiates before, and after those experiences, I tend not to notice things like 'getting sick,' or 'feeling under the weather.' It is also 90 degrees out, so any symptoms are dismissed as being hot.

I used the menthol flavor the first day, as a Newport smoker, but I tried using the Virginia tobacco flavor by NHale, and I like that flavor a lot. It is fairly neutral with a very nice after taste.

So if I do not feel any perceived withdrawals at +2 days, can I expect things to only get better? When did you feel withdrawals to be the worst when switching?

EDIT:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::EDIT

See my post on the second page regarding the following. They are not mean or a bad community. I just went in and broke about every taboo they had without even realizing it. My bad experience was my own fault.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Oh, I made the mistake of registering at a certain quit smoking support forum that was near the top of my google search query..... wow. Some of the nastiest people I have ever encountered. I basically was looking for their opinion on using the e-cig as a means to reduce harm while I lower myself down on the nicotine.

There were two very nice members, but I got about 5 pages of insults that took me back to elementary school.

For some reason, they thought I was a troll, and treated me as such. The rhetoric used against me was fanatical, religious-like, and dogged. What a terrible experience. Ya'll are so nice!!:)

I think about every post had the following emoticons used multiple times, sometimes 8 times in a row: :rolleyes: :laugh::facepalm:

Hey, glad you like your Provari!:D ANOTHER satisfied customer!:laugh:
"When did you feel withdrawals to be the worst when switching?" I didn't feel any withdrawls when I switched from smoking to vaping, but that's just my personal experiece. Everyone is different.

As far as your experience with the Quit Smoking support forum, I think I know which one you visited. I USED to be there also. I don't know if I'm allowed to do this here or not...if not, I'm sure I'll be hearing from classwife:laugh: but I would suggest Quit Smoking Journals....otherwise known as QSJ. I've been a member there for awhile, and they are nice people, and aren't fanatical about the way YOU choose to quit, they are just fanatical about your quitting and helping you do so. Also there is, of course, here at ECF! There's a GREAT group of people here, and there are quite alot that have gotten down to O nico (like myself) or are well on their way. There are also people who have no desire to go nicofree..I don't have any problem with that either.

Happy Vaping!!

I aint' going nic free!! Gratz on your Provari!! Welcome to the forums.

Ermm you may not get ANY withdrawl symptoms, you may get them all. Drink lots of fluids, drop vitamins, and vape away! 72 hours is the PHYSICAL effect withdrawl, like all physical addictions, a full year before the mylan (the grabbers in your brain that suck up the chemicals) all die off.

They psycological /shrug, up to you and your experiences. If your a friend or a sideways friend of Bill W, you already know how to deal with THAT :0).

Good luck and pull up a chair, it's time to billow the VAPE!!!

i just read your post in that other forum, stern. that was a good post and those people are very mean! so much for the term "support group" . thats no support group.

turning to pv's really is quitting smoking. there is no smoke in pv's. ..pv's have the nicotine just like the patch and the gum. the only difference is: pv's work a lot better!

your post in that forum was honest, truthful and sincere and they should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting your right to choose vaping.

...and plus i'm jealous that you have a provari and i dont! waaa! .. lol

I had a headache on days 3 and 4,,,,,,and a very dry mouth from vaping on about days 5 and 6,,,,,,,,,,,

but day 10,,,,,,,,,,,well, let's just say I walked all over Disney, up and down hills, up and down ramps and stairs,,,,,,,,,and clear across the parking lot without even ONCE huffing or puffing. Yep,,,,,,,that's a side effect I am enjoying :)

Congrats on quitting! And stay away from those vicious people,,,,,,,you don't need them. You need SUPPORT, not meanness! :)

As far as your experience with the Quit Smoking support forum, I think I know which one you visited.

Maybe the one where they kick you off forever if you admit to a single slip? I was looking at one like that and I was amazed. NOT a place where people got support unless they fit the perfect mold.

Hey Stern I see you really got beat up in that quit smoking forum... I got the same treatment 2 months ago but since english is not my first language I could not hope to put up a fight; those people are pros !! lol

You will definitely be able to stay away from cigarettes with your PV! I'm doing it with no problem after 40 years of heavy smoking. I'm also pretty sure it will be much easier to quit your PV than real cigs whenever you make that decision.

Welcome and good luck!!

So just an update. I was emotional when I posted about my experience on the other board. The truth is, my initial post was quite heated as I had just read through a post where another e-cig user was bullied.

To be fair to them, anyone coming to a forum that challenges the established culture or philosophy will be treated with hostility. I was not aware of this, but apparently that board was flooded last year by "e-cig trolls." So of course they were hostile towards me, as I was perceived as having hostile intent (not without reason).

That board is a quit smoking board, and as of now, my desire is harm reduction. As such, I was wrong to post there in the first place.

The other thing is that many people there quit the hard way. I can understand how the e-cig can be perceived as a threat. Whether the temptation is real, or whether an 'easy' way out threatens their pride in their accomplishments, it is not a forum for e-cig users. I am sure any of those 'mean' people who have been quite friendly had I treaded with lighter feet, or had met them in a different enviroment.

If people want a safe haven for support from those who quit in a similar manner, then they have their right to such a haven. And it was out of line for me to disrespect that.

So I am asking that people NOT go there unless they want support giving up the e-cig as well. Of course I disagree with their philosophy, but it works for them, and I respect that.
