Well the Newports weren't an everyday thing (for some1 who is 20 and in college, I couldn't afford for it to be my everyday smoke lol). I usually smoke Marlboro Menthol. I had thought about upping the dosage of nicotine, but thinking about it, when I would try to go lower again, I would presume I would have these feelings again. I think I am gonna just suck it up for the next couple of weeks. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't weird to go through this when swapping to vaping.

Too many newbies stress about the nicotine level and jeopardize their quitting because of it. Why on earth are you worried about your nic level when even at 24mg you would be taking in far, far less nicotine than you would if you were smoking?

Use the nic level you need to take away the cravings so you can transition to ecigs. Worry about nicotine levels later. In fact, you won't have to worry; most vapers naturally and painlessly cut down nic levels gradually over time if that's their goal.

I have been vaping for 3 years and started with 24mg. Was fortunate not to have any withdrawls. I vaped the 24mg for the first year and have been at 18mg since.
I vape alot more then I ever smoked. It rarely leaves my hand. I have read that your body doesn't absorb as much nicotine as it does when you smoke. So, try increasing your vape time to get you thru the withdrawls. Also, the burning taste could be from the clearomizers. I haven't had much luck with them due to that burning taste. With the Twist you can try dialing down your voltage which should help as well. Good luck and hang in there.

Hello everyone. I am rather new to vaping (got my stuff in the mail Monday) and today I have experienced a familiar, awful feeling; the feeling on withdrawal. I have my juices with 18mg/ml of nicotine, and I vape about as much as I smoked. Now, I was a smoker for almost 2 years, and was up to a pack a day for about a year.
Today has been my first day without a real cig (as I am to cheap to waste 2/3 of a pack of Newports when my stuff came in Monday) and I feel like I am going through withdrawal. Has anyone else experienced this switching from regular cigs? I figured I wouldn't have it, or at least it wouldn't be so bad since I have my vape, but it is still terrible.

Thanks in advance for any input.

First off, Welcome to ECF.

To answer your question, no, I did not and I smoked for more than 10 times longer. I vaped when I could and smoked when I had to. Kept looking for a juice flavor that would "work" for me. When I finally started finding those juices that "worked", I forgot to smoke and did not even realize it until the day afterwards.

On that same note, there is a Juice Swap coming up this month in Indiana. Basically vapers coming with bags-o-juice and looking for something else they might like to try. Trust me, at any meet-up in Indiana, there is plenty of free juice that could be easily obtained. Who knows who you could meet and what they could impart. See if you can make some plans to be there and see the thread...http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/hoosier-vapers/316746-tentative-plans-vapor-lock-juice-swap-vape-meet-aug-25-2012-a.html

After that the Hoosier Vapers club is hosting another event in Sept, so there are other chances for your fellow Hoosiers to give you a hand.

The first week is the toughest, change is never easy especially when it comes to a addiction. The 24 or 36mg juice is a step in the right direction. I also would order some menthol crystals. Then you can add a small piece to make the juice as menthol as you like. I havnt found a menthol juice yet that has enough menthol comparing it to a newport cigarette. Also what type of equipment did you buy? The smaller vaporizers can't deliver the throat hit of the larger ones. Im talking about variable voltage. I like the ones that use a 18650 battery because they an last all day and deliver the throat hit your seeking when first trying to quit. Everyones different but thats what got me off of menthol cigs.
