This is my first post but I've been lurking for a month or so.
I started vaping 2+ months ago. My plan was to start and once I felt I could use vaping to help quit, I would do that. I quit smoking after 1 day of vaping.
I was a smoker for the last 10 years. Prior to that I smoked for 20 years, quit for 7 years and started again. I first quit by taking Zyban. It worked but the side effects were very uncomfortable.
When I quit 2 months ago, I did a couple of things to help get through the initial period. Firstly I tossed my cigarettes in the garbage. Secondly, I started vaping with a tobacco flavour but quickly switched to other flavours. My rationale was why use the same flavor of the cigarettes if you want to quit the cigarettes. The other thing I did which I think was important was not drinking alcohol for the first month.
I did have some cravings at the beginning but they were relatively small. I occasionally get one now, but even smaller. This has definitely been the easiest I've ever quit smoking.
I feel pretty confident that I have smoking licked but will still work hard to not have even 1 cigarette. I know as an addict, 1 cigarette could eventually lead to a pack a day.
I wish you great success when you do decide to quit smoking. I hope it will be as easy for you as it was for me.
